Why Does My Dog Have Random Spurts Of Anxiety

I get random anxiety and don't know what to do?

Your anxiety is being caused by your current situation of a high stress environment within your family. I went through a very similar phase when I was in high school. I'm in college now and away from the dysfunction, but I do have some advice for you.

First off, admit to yourself that your family environment, the stress and the screaming is DIRECTLY related to your anxiety. That way you can address the problem correctly without lying to yourself or avoiding the real root of the issue.

Random bursts of anxiety are really not that random, it just seems like it. You may not even know you're thinking about an argument or something reminds you of going home or you feel guilty about your family's unhappiness, but BOOM, the shaking and the nausea starts. You need to find a solution to this that can help you.

In my experience, you have a few options.
-Meditation is always really helpful. Buddhism has a lot of interesting philosophies on meditation, calming the mind despite how much hate or anger is around you and being calm and peaceful.
-Yoga is a great form of exercise and is even better for relieving stress and dealing with anxiety.
-Anxiety support groups or forums are all over the place, especially the internet, so use Google!
-Talk with a therapist or even your school counselor. They can really help and they keep your information private, as long as there is no mention of abuse or hurting people. Also, great medications for Anxiety and Generalized Anxiety Disorder are out there. I think Klonopin, or Clonazepam (the generic brand), might really be a good option for you if what you're saying is the current situation and you're experiencing this all the time. Talk to a therapist or a doctor to learn more.

Good luck! Find peace, and stay strong!

Why does my fixed dog pee in little spurts all over the place instead of letting it out all at once??!?

When I take my male Pug to potty outside he will pee once for a long time letting his whole bladder empty, when I take my female Pekingese out to potty she pees random little spurts all over the place. She is fixed so I'm confused. I wish she would just let it all out at once because she pees like 10 times every time we take her out! She also has accidents in the house and my Pug does not.

Really hungry at age 22, growth spurt? Random pains...Anxiety.?

I've been really hungry lately, like if I don't eat 3 reeses cups, a banana and 3 pieces of toast for lunch I feel like I'm going to starve to death...I've used to be able to sit around all day and make it through with just a few snacks and feel fine, but lately my hunger feels like it's a raging piece of work. I'm also experiencing random small pains/and tiny migraines.
Could I be having a growth spurt at age 22???
I've also had some anxiety "attacks" lately, but nothing serious enough to where I can't "breathe" and relax through it. I do keep getting running thoughts in the back of my head, like if I had some serious disease- but I went to a MD recently- had standard blood tests/urine tests done and they said I should be completely OK and not to worry about it.

What can I do to ease my dogs anxiety when he goes to the veterinarian?

Relieving pet anxiety is a joint task shared by caretakers and their veterinarians. Here’s a guideline for what you can do to diminish fear in your pet and what you should expect from your vet.Your veterinarian should be sensitive to this issue. Your vet should acknowledge the dog’s fear by comforting him and discussing tactics to make the next visit better. The most common reason that dogs develop a fear of going to the veterinarian is that it feels traumatic to them. Think about a typical visit to the vet's office with your dog.As soon as you walk through the door, your dog is bombarded with strange smells and sounds. Chances are you will run into some other animals while you are there, and whether your dog loves or hates other animals, seeing them is sure to raise his excitement level.Next comes the examination. Your dog is restrained by a veterinary technician while the veterinarian gives him a physical exam. Your dog can become confused and fearful at this unfamiliar type of handling. Most regular visits to the veterinarian also involve needles in the form of vaccinations and having blood taken. This unusual handling happens while surrounded by strangers. For sick visits, all of this occurs while your dog is already not feeling well. Add it all together and you have a pretty traumatic experience for your dog. It's no wonder so many dogs develop a fear of going to the veterinarian.Veterinary experts can guide you how to take care of your dogs or who are first time pet owners. 121with is such a platform that can help you to meet Online Veterinary Experts for solving your pets issues by setting an audio or video call from comfort of your home .

Why does my dog suddenly have random, spontaneous aggression?

Aggression is rarely random and spontaneous, but sometimes people don't realize that the dog is uncomfortable in various situations. Most dog bites occur when the human doesn't recognize the dog's discomfort, and the dog is unable to escape. Additionally, some people punish low level signals, such as growling- which supresses the growling, but does not address the underlying issue, and results in a dog who "bites out of the blue" because giving warning signs has been punished. Also, according to the bite threshold model, if there are several factors that make the dog uncomfortable, they are additive- although none might be sufficient alone to cause a bite, the combination is too much for the dog. You mention that he growls and mouths, which is good, that hasn't been supressed, but does indicate he has discomfort with those issues, and I would suggest working with a trainer that specializes in behavior issues- this site has trainers that may be able to help you:

One of the contributing factors could well be pain or some other medical issue, and I agree with getting a lyme test done- also check on ears and mouth- bad teeth and infected inner ears have contributed to many bites! You don't mention age, but some dogs who start getting grumpy in middle or older age do better if put on a pain regimen. What I did with my dog was put him on pain meds to see if it helped (it did) and then kept him on them for about a month while I started supplementing with fish oil and a glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM supplement. After that, I stopped the pain meds, except for when we do more training or competitions (he's an agility dog, and loves it, so I don't want to quit completely, though we have slowed down and do less.) If he had started being grumpy again, I would have resumed the pain meds.

Why is my dog getting random shortness-of-breath?

She might have an open pneumothorax or an asthmatic attack (allergy)?. get a vet. or is she fat and overweight? if she is overweight, better start to get her a better diet and try to monitor her weight. otherwise, other problems might start to arise. at 5, it shows only respiratory symptoms, when she is older, diabetes, cardiology and joint problems will start to crop in...mainly cardiology

Can cats sense human anxiety? I've noticed that random cats try to get my attention whenever I feel down.

While I’m not sure about the science behind it, I have definitely observed this behavior in my own cat, Seal. When I was getting up for school every morning I was often on my own for a few hours. I have anxiety about the dark/being alone, and she would often sit on my feet in the morning to guard me.In addition, my other senior cat Shy recently died of feline leukemia. She and Seal had been together since before we got them, and I have reason to believe that Shy raised Seal. I thought Seal was being cuddly because she was lonely and missed her friend, but I realize now she was comforting me. Shy was always the more cuddly of the two and a true lap cat at heart, and her absence was particularly difficult considering we had her for 10 years. Seal understood that I was mourning and was trying make me feel better.

Why do I have such bad anxiety when a dog is trying to lick my face?

Why you do —well I don’t know !It’s probably quite normal just like some humans who are 6 feet tall and weigh 90 kilo’s are scared of spiders that can fit in their hand !Don’t worry about , just worry about how you deal it — as in not getting angry with the dog — that sometimes is not good -for you !Just gently push the dog away with a stern -” NO “ —or better still get the dogs owner to take control of their animal — that’s their job when they decide to have a “pet”

Is it possible for a dog to have anxiety problems? My new dog randomly starts barking...?

It can be anxiety but ... Do you check to see if the furnace or ac is coming on? Is there a noise outside that you don't hear? I think you should pick her up, tell her it is ok and walk around for her to see what you are checking. You might find something together. Maybe the water heater or pipes. Don't blame everything on anxiety.

Why does my dog like some strangers and dislike others?

Dogs are extremely perceptive animals. They read body language and tone and level of voice. They learn and remember. If a dog has been beaten by a male, they will be cautious of males, especially macho ones. This is why I always show a strange dog the back of my hand and let him smell it before trying to pet or play with him. An open hand can bring back bad memories. Even my Golden, who wanted to be friends with everyone and everything, was hesitant around obviously aggressive people.Dogs, like humans and most mammals, are cautious about the new. This is hard wired as a survival mechanism. When one sees and animal that one has never seen before, it is best to be cautious. My Landseer lived her first 9 months without ever seeing a dark skinned person. When she finally did, she went into defensive position and growled lightly. I gave her the stop command and she quickly got over it as she interacted more with non-whites. She was not a racist. Dogs cannot be such. She was cautious until she learned otherwise. They also read their alphas and know what we like and do not like. My Landseer always sensed if I liked or disliked someone even if I was doing a good job of hiding it. She would assume a defensive position between me and the person I did not like. Like the skin color thing, this was embarrassing. “Sorry, but my dog thinks you are a jerk just like I do.”Your dog is not picking people at random to dislike. You need to do a little data collection and observation. Once I understood why my dogs disliked something I was able to develop a plan to counter the dislike…or in some cases, if their dislike was justified (e.g. Macho Men), I let them be.
