Why Does My Elgato Capture Card Use Space While Not Recording

What is the best game capture software?

I tried OBS, but it takes too much cpu. I don’t have a powerful enough computer so I can only play csgo on medium settings, but if I use OBS, FPS is abysmal even on the lowest settings. So I tried XSplit over Steam, but it made my computer crash a lot - I wasn’t the only one if you look at the reviews.I thought of Action, but it’s too expensive for me.Then I settled with D3DGear:Recently launched on Steam, it isn’t too expensive. OBS dropped my fps from 120 to 30 in csgo, but D3DGear dropped it only fom 120 to 90 - completely playable. It does have it’s kinks - I have to conform the fps in the recorded video file using Handbrake and it’s not good for streaming because it doesn’t have any “scenes” options like in OBS.But games are captured with little FPS loss and the video is recorded with great quality. It also gives you the option to record your microphone in a 2nd audio track so you don’t have to another recorder just for your voice. Please follow me for gaming and niche gamer information. It gives me the thrill to answer more often!

Can the elgato game capture over heat?

The elegato may get a litle warm, I agree with that, but I have had no issues with recording with it, I normally have it on like 5 hours sessions.

I dont know much about it, but in case, I would not recommen having it on for too long, but I guess you will not make a 5 hour long video :P

You can always make a short video of maybe 1 hour, and then wait a litle, and then play 1 hour again, or 2 hour if you want to play more :)

But of what I see It should be fine :)

Good luck!

PS : I just found out that the elgato may freeze by overheating, so this is a good thing!
So the elgato will stop and freeze when it overheats, so it protects its hardware so it does not break, atleast the elgato got a defence system :)

PS 2 : You can change the settings, so the capture card does not film in total full HD, because that is a TONN of work for your hardware, so you can change it down to record at medium quality, this is a lot better, and it wont freeze because of too much work :) So here is a tip for holding out with the elgato! :D

How to download recordings from Panasonic Video Camera AG-DVX100A 3CCD?

I'm trying to make a film for my School project and I'm completely new to the camera I'm using. I've tried reading the online manual but for all I know, the question I'm asking could just be impossible anyway.

I'm wondering if anyone might happen to know how you go about downloading recorded footage from the camera onto a laptop so I can edit it? There's a few wires that came with the camera but I can't find any that would fit a laptop so I'm guessing what I'm doing is probably completely wrong xD

If it's any help - this is the online manual I found: http://www.manualowl.com/m/Panasonic/AG-DVX100A/Manual/52348

Thanks for any advice!

To use an elgato do I need to good PC?

I have recently bought an elgato game capture HD 60. It hasn't arrived yet but I have just started wondering whether I am going to need a top of the range PC/laptop to use it.
My current laptop is a mid range laptop. It's not awful but it's nothing special.

Thank you

What all should I buy for a streaming setup for gaming?

For a "broadcast PC", you will need a good multi-core processor to handle the video transcoding... as that workload doesn't touch the graphics card that much. For this, you will want to get a modern Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 3 processor as a baseline... better processors (like the Core i7 or the Ryzen 5 / 7 series) would be helpful, especially if you're going with higher resolution broadcast (like 1080p @ 60 fps... there's currently no interest in going beyond 1080p on Twitch).

The graphics card on your broadcast PC can a low-end budget card like a Nvidia GTX 1050 OR an AMD RX 560 (~$100) just to help offload any graphical processing tasks.

For system RAM, 8 GB is the bare minimum... more RAM is helpful, but I wouldn't go beyond 16 GB's.

As for other equipment...

* Webcam -- Most broadcasters tend to utilize Logitech c920 / c922 webcams of their equivalence as these are considered "professional grade" with 1080p @ 60 fps recording capabilities. If you utilize other features like low-light filter or "Virtual Green Screen" (w/ the c922), the recording framerate drops to 30 fps to compensate for the increase processing load.

I have to place a MAJOR CAUTION with utilizing the "Virtual Greenscreen" software as you will need a modern processor (at least a 6th generation Intel processor) to properly handle it.

* Headphones & Mic / Headset -- Viewers do have an obsession with properly hearing the streamers. Therefore getting a good microphone (or headset) becomes key. Ice Snowballs & Blue Yet mics are pretty common to see on non-commercial, professional streams (commercial, professional streams tend to have multiple mic arrays or professional-grade mics out off camera).

* Green Screen (Optional) -- This is a partial toss-up between viewers & streamers, but the consensus is that people want to see the streamer. HOWEVER, they're not really interested in what's in the background & prefer to have that space filled with the actual game you're playing, when possible. Having an actual physical green screen that you can chroma-key out is massively easier on the processor than using any virtual green screen software.

Hope this helps!

Live Stream Camcorder Footage Help?

I am wanting to record live footage from a Canon Vixia HF R400 camcorder to a Lenovo Y410P laptop, but I am not sure how to do it. I am low on money, so I am not able to order a BlackMagic Thunderbolt capture device, it's just not an option at this point. I tried using my Dazzle capture device with Earphone Headset jack Composite AV 3-RCA Adapter converter, and no luck. Even though I knew it wasn't going to work, I plugged in the USB cable that came with camcorder and to no surprise, it didn't work. It is a newer computer and camcorder, so Firewire is totally out of the picture. I am not sure if the Elgato capture device records camcorder footage, but I only have one and that is where my video game footage is recorded from.

I have a memory card, but it only does about 2 hours of footage, but I want to record more than that, so I can do a long live stream sometime. Any help on the issue would be very appreciated, so if you need any more information, please let me know.
