Why Does My Eye Hurt Especially Around Lower Eyelid

Why does my eyelid hurt?

Your symptoms could be a couple of things. In order of likilhood:

1. You have Grand Papillary Conjunctivitis (GPC for short), a fancy way of saying you have a very common type of eye infection. Take your bottom lid and gently look at the inside to see if it is very red and "cobblestone" in texture. It is very easy to transfer this infection from one eye to the other with your fingers so that's why the other one may have started hurting.

2. You are experiencing as strain in the muscles that surround the eyelids from not wearing your glasses. This usually shows up as a headache though, but pain in the eye is a slightly less common symptom.

3. You have possibly actually bruised your eyelid by rubbing it too hard. The eyelid is very delicate tissue and you can rupture blood vessels in it (a bruise) without having it be visible on the outside surface.

If this has been going on for more than a week, simply go to an Optometrist to have him check your eye out. It wil take less than 30 minutes and there is no pain involved. At a chain store like Pearlevision or Lenscrafters, an optometrist will probably charge you less than $45 dollars for a complete examination including prescribing medication, if required.

Lower corner of eyelid hurts...?

A stye in the eye can occur without warning. It can be a small bump that looks like a pimple or it can look like a swollen lump on the eyelids. This article discusses easy methods to treat a stye in the eye.

Step 1
A stye can appear inside or outside the upper or lower eyelids. Styes are the result of clogged pores around the eye. The pores can be the oil glands or the follicle of an eyelash. Bacterial infection adds to the problem. It will start out as something that looks like a tiny wart. If it doesn't go away on its own, the area around the stye will swell with redness. (Chalazion is really the right term when it becomes this way but people will always interchange the terms). The lump can become painful and your vision will be impaired by the swollen eyelids.

Step 2
If you already have a stye that has swollen, you should go to an eye doctor or ophthalmologist, not an optometrist who prescribes eyeglasses or contacts. If you don't see an eye doctor when you have a big stye problem, you will eventually have to see one. They will lance (pierce) the stye to drain the pus and open up the pores again.

Step 3
If you have a stye before it becomes a chalazion, wash your hands. Get a warm compress and put pressure on the stye about 5 minutes. You can use a wet a clean face towel with hot water instead. (If you use warm water, it will cool fast). Repeat about 4 times a day. If you are at work, and don't have a compress or face towel, use paper towels.

Step 4
Be patient. Keep your hands and compress (or face towel) clean. Applying warm compress will force the pus to erupt from the clogged pores and heal. The stye will go away in a few days. If it doesn't, see an eye doctor.

Step 5
To reduce the chances of getting a stye, shampoo or soap your eyes whenever you take a shower or bath.

Why does my lower eyelid hurt?

My best guess is that it could be a sty. A miss grown hair or a infected eye lash. At some point there should be some swelling, almost like a pimple. I could understand the pain when bent over...kind of like when you smash your finger in a door or with a hammer and then spin around in circles (push blood to the finger) cause some pain by the pressure. The discharge in the eye is a healing process. Depending on where you live it could just be allergies. Also, you might want to evaluate your computer use, stress, or sleeping habits, causing any stress on the eyes to affect the surrounding skin(eye lids). Carrots are great for the eyes, but since you are having more of a skin problem try applying Aloe-Vera or a product with Vitamin E in it. If it starts affecting your vision then I would consult a physician for a better diagnosis. Hope your eye gets better......

The inside of my lower eyelids hurt when I blink, how can I stop this?

if that is what you experience, you can try by using sterile soothing eyedrops if they are available from a pharmacy in your area, you can gently pull the skin of the undereyllid and look in the mirror at the skin of the eyelid to see if the outside or inside is swolen or just a little more red from bloodflow then the inside of your underlip ( rather easy to compare ) and if there are crusts between the eyelashes, clean them gently wiping along the direction of the eylashes from skin outward to free the collected material with a clean cloth with the most natural soap you can easily obtain in your area. Than use boiled water within the ceanest pan or kettle you have available (cooled down with a clean cover over it to about a few degrees above your skintemperature ) and clean al skin of the eyearea and the complete face. When washing your hair use the most natural soap avialable and thoroughly rinse the face with the cleanest available water and you can apply a thin layer of pure honey with a clean tissue on the rim of the eyelid between the eyelashes to catch minute insects that are most likely pestering you. clean the area around the eyes twice a day at least for the next fourteen days and all may be enough to free you of this bothersome problem.
