Why Does My Hair Feel And Look Healthier When I Use Shampoo Less But Dry Ends

Is dry shampoo bad for your hair? Am I better off just washing it with regular shampoo or is dry shampoo OK?

I have very thin, fine hair that gets greasy by day two but I try to only wash my hair 2 times a week with one dry shampoo "wash" in between the two regular washes. But I'm starting to wonder if dry shampoo is actually worse for my scalp/hair than washing with regular shampoo and conditioner would be.

When I use dry shampoo, I don't wet my hair before, so I'm applying it on dry hair, and then I don't wash my hair until the next morning so the dry shampoo is on my scalp for about 24 hours. I'm not conditioning my hair during this dry shampoo wash obviously.

So would it be better for my hair and scalp to just wet, wash with shampoo, rinse, and condition 3 times a week instead of washing & conditioning twice with dry shampoo in between?

Thanks.

How do I make my hair look less....blah?

DON'T use mayo.. It ill just make your hair greasy and make it seem more smooth...A hot oil treatment will fix it dramaticly, you can get VO5 hot oil at wall mart for 1.50, Then if you get this conditioning mask called Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, Its works wonders.. Its about 3 dollars, you can get it at wall mart as well..Try a good shampoo also Redkin Clear Moisture works really really well, it's a little more expensive but its way worth it because it makes your hair look and feel really pretty. If you did all this together your hair will be looking great in no time!

Can you blow dry hair after you use conditioner?

Yep! It feels better for me when I use conditioner then blow dry. It's softer and shinier for me when I use conditioner then dry.

By "crap" maybe you mean oily or slick? If so, use less conditioner, and only on the ends.

Is it better to shampoo your hair once or twice?

You should only shampoo your hair twice in the same shower if your roots are oily.
If all of your hair is dried out then you only need to shampoo once. In that case you should use a shampoo designed to moisturize and reduce frizzes.
But if your roots are oily and the rest of your hair isnt, then just shampoo really good just where its oily and you wont even have to shampoo twice. You can use a clarifying shampoo which removes buildup and makes hair less oily.

Now about conditioner: you should use a really good moisturizing and silkifying conditioner like one from Pantene or another brand and put a lot on the ends of your hair. Dont put any on your roots or top of your head unless that part is dry too or else your hair will look oily.
You should also use a deep treatment conditioner that you can use once or twice a week that will keep hair really soft and moisturized.
To spread the product evenly, put conditioner on different sections of your hair and you can even comb it out. Then leave it in your hair for at least 3 minutes.
Hope that helps!
