Why is my laptop not turning on?

I found this at Tom's Guide Lenovo G560 won't turn on:-unplug the computer-remove the battery-Hit the power button no less than 30 times. -Leave the battery out another two minutes or so-put the battery back-plug the computer in-power onAllegedly there is a capacitor within the computer that can retain a  static charge, resulting in no power to the motherboard. This can happen  to new or old computers. The above steps will discharge said capacitor.Give that a try and see what happens. Other suggestions have you hold down the power button for 30 sec at least 2 or 3 times in step 3 above, instead of pressing it 30 times.A Lenovo tech suggested this Lenovo Laptop Won't Power On Try This - Your Local Tech:First unplug the AC adapter.Next remove the battery. Then press the power button 11 times, and  hold it for 30 seconds on the 11th timeFinally plug the AC back in.If those fail, you'll need to make sure your power supply to the computer is working properly using a multimeter, and that the power port on the computer isn't compromised.

If your laptop does not power on, why is it advised to take out the battery and then put it back in?

The power button on all modern computers isn't connected directly to the power supply, instead, it's handled by the some electronics on the motherboard of the computer. The electronics actually decides what to do when you press the power button - usually if the computer is off, this circuit powers on the computer; usually if the computer is on, this circuit passes an event to the processor, which causes the OS to either trigger a shutdown, or ask the user what they want to do. This is why pushing the power button doesn't just cut the power, though most computers also have an override mode to hard power-off instead of requesting a shutdown from the OS, this is usually triggered by holding the power button for 4 seconds.Basically, it's possible for this system to be in the wrong state. For example, if the circuit for some reason think that the computer is already on, then pressing the button won't cause the computer to boot up because the circuit would be trying to do the wrong thing. The only way to reset this circuit is to remove power from it entirely. For desktop computers, you can simply pull the main cord. For laptops, you need to remove both the charger and the battery. The reason you're asked to wait 30 seconds after removing the power is to allow any capacitors inside the computer that has any temporary stored up charge to discharge. Asking you to hold the power button is not strictly necessary, the delay by itself is sufficient, but some believe that pressing the power button while there's no power connected will speed up the discharge of capacitors (this is debatable, but it's not really an important point). Once powered down and fully discharged, reapplying the power allows the computer to start up from a completely cleared state. There are a lot of things like this in computers and in electronics in general, where some erroneous state that prevents normal operation of the device has to be cleared by cutting the power entirely. This is what's know as "power-cycling", and it's exactly what IT techs are asking you to do when they tell you to "turn it off and then on again".

Hp nw9440 laptop will not power on unless plugged in, but will run on battery?

it seems the battery's problem, suggest you to replace one.

Why does a laptop work without battery, while on charging and not mobile?

To put it tersely the mobile company does not want it to turn on unless it detects a battery. There are some clear reasons for it. Here I enlist a few which come to my mind:1. Mobile requires a large burst currents while making a call/receiving and for several other functions. Many a time the adaptor is incapable of delivering that much current. So even if you fool your mobile to believe there is a battery inside, it might just power-on, but it will reset everytime you try to call someone or somebody calls you.2. The adaptor voltage is different than battery voltage. Adaptors are generally 5V, while battery is 3.7V. (1)You can fool the mobile by adjusting the adaptor voltage to 3.7V. Again there is a third terminal of battery which lets the mobile sense battery temperature. It is for precautionary measures, if the battery gets overheated mobile will reduce charging current and try to stabilize battery temperature. (2)So you also have to assure the mobile while fooling it that battery temperature is normal. Both of these hacks can easily be done with pretty basic circuit(requiring hardly 2-3 components). So to summarize it, mobile does not power up because it knows that adaptor is not sufficiently capable to satisfy its needs, adpator voltage is not compatible plus it gets confused about the battery temperature in absence of battery.

I have to hit power button of my laptop many times to get it started and sometimes it starts with single push. What can be the problem?

There could be a variety of things going on here. A. Your laptop may not have enough battery power to power it on.  And if it's not plugged into a wall outlet for power, it simply will not power on. The other side of this is if it is plugged into the wall, you could have a bad or faulty connection somewhereB. Your power button could be faulty.  I've seen many HP, Toshiba, and other budget brand laptops have cheap power buttons and after a bit of use, they are simply not as effective as they originally were out of the box.  The only way to really fix this is to disassemble the power button mechanisms (and possibly laptop to gain access), and re-seat or replace faulty mechanisms, likely the electronic button under the physical buttonC. If you remove your battery on a semi-regular basis, the contacts could be faulty.  Or depending on the environment, you could have collected dust within the battery compartment.  This could cause problems. D. You could have dirt or grime under your power button.  Pretty self-explanatory.  To fix, you'll likely have to disassemble the power button and clean it out. There could be other problems, but these are the first things that cross my mind.  I'd be willing to place my bet on your power button is faulty or something along those lines.  It happens quite often, especially with budget laptops.  It's just one of those quality things.  I suggest you take the steps to either fix or apply a reliable work around, before you get to the point of the device completely failing to power on.

My Nikon Coolpix s8200 will not power on or connect to my laptop. How do I fix it?

When I plug it into the charger it flashes green but it's not charging, I don't know what it's doing. When I plug it into my laptop the light is solid green for about 5 seconds before it goes out and then nothing.
I've tried removing the memory card and removing/cleaning the battery. It's still behaving the same way. What do I do?
