Why does my room smell when I turn off the AC?

Sometimes cold conditions dampen smells. What does a dentist's office smell like?

If I had to sum it up it smells like the bone (particles that are flying through the air via the drill), candles and latex.
There are some pretty pungent materials that are used commonly in dental offices such as;
-bonding agents(the light cured adhesive that is painted on the tooth prior to a white filling)
-formo cresol(a very smelly liquid used in root canal therapy)
-dry socket paste(a paste smelling strongly of clove oil for dry sockets following extractions)
-acrylic liquid(you'd be familiar with this smell as it's commonly associated with nail salon's)
-lysol(the rooms are sprayed down with this after EVERY patient)

Hope that does it for ya'! Happy smelling! =)

Why does the dentist office have a weird smell?

It is mostly the aroma from the Dental Products, Disinfectants, tooth dust; when your tooth is drilled for treatments and sometimes even the gloves. Inhaling it doesn’t affect much, so you need not worry much. We do try our best to keep it down. The odor is strong usually around the treatment area which we cannot help.

What are some ways to improve a small business office waiting room?

Source: 5 Things You Can Do to Improve Your Waiting RoomThe purpose of your medical office waiting room is to provide a quiet and peaceful place for your patients to pass the time while they await their appointment. Ideally your office would have no wait time for appointments, but alas, we wait for previously scheduled appointments, and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.Your waiting room is an important part of your practice. In fact, many patients spendMORE time in the waiting room than inside the doctor’s office. Looking back, I can tell you what my childhood dentist’s office looked like. For a good first impression, consider:Automatic Air Fresheners, our sense of smell is one of our strongest memory triggers due to the fact that our olfactory bulb is part of the brain’s limbic system, and area associated with memory and feeling.Games, and maybe even a few iPads. If you run an office that serves children or parents, then you should consider provide some games like Connect 4 or Jenga. Having an iPad will help serve children and adults as a way to pass the time with pleasure.WifiThese days, almost everyone is connected all the time. While most everyone has some sort of data plan, not everyone does, and still, there is no guarantee that everyone will have good cell phone reception in your offices. Providing free wifi is easy and should be free, if you already have Wifi for your office usage.Healthy snacks or fresh fruitLet your patients munch on some snacks. They will be excited to visit you the next time they have an appointment with you. Bonus points for providing food that few people are allergic to.Smile!Make sure that your receptionist is happy to greet new and veteran patients of yours. They need to treat everyone with patience and respect, especially when dealing with problems that may arise due to the fault of patients, like being late, or disagreements over payments. Providing excellent customer support will keep your customers happy in the waiting room, and happy to see their doctor.

Why do hospitals smell so bad?

Have you ever walked into a butcher’s shop and noticed a fairly strong smell? That smell is replicated in the operating theatre if there is considerable bloood loss. Likewise, it is often apparent in the Emergency Department if there is a patient with extensive bleeding.Patients attend hospital suffering from gastro-intestinal disturbances. Faecal matter tends to smell, and the smell tends to linger.Vomit has a distinctive odour, again the smell can linger despite cleaning. Our Emergency Department sees between 5–600 patients daily. They tend to arrive with additional family and friends. During their time in the ED, the patient, their family and their friends may visit one of the few toilets we have available. Inevitably, the toilets will start to smell, the smell will permeate.Hospitals are busy places, with high volumes of foot traffic. Some of the people who come into the hospital will not have high standards of personal hygiene, again the smell will linger. The kitchens cater for vast numbers of people on a daily basis. Cooking on an industrial scale will lead to smells which will filter through the air conditioning systems.Because of the different hazards in a hospital, fairly potent substances are often used for cleaning - these substances can lead to smells of their own.It is extremely difficult to suppress the large number of odours within a hospital setting without recourse to substances which would, potentially, be harmful to health.

What does a veterinarian's office smell of?

It should smell clean.Unfortunately, not all vets offices do.There is always going to temporary bad smells, anal glands, cat urine, feces, etc. There may also the smell of cleaners, disinfectants, or even bleach. The way to control smells is to have great protocols. Feces, and items used to clean them up, should never go in the indoor trash - they should be imedately taken outside.Buildings should have extraction fans, to help replace the air. This gets expensive as far as air conditioning is concerned but it is worth it.The choice of cleaners is important. A wide spectrum cleaner should be able to handle the majority of jobs. Specialty cleaners should be available o handle things such as parvovirus contamination - lots of hospitals use bleach for this, but I’m not a fan.Hospital staff can never be cleaning too much. It should be constant and a matter of routine.Coverup products, such as “air fresheners” should be used very sparingly. The need for them is almost always is due to a lack of cleaning. Plug in products are even worse.Candles are a fire risk and a OSHA violation.

Do dentist's offices have residual anaesthetic fumes?

I know it sometimes smells like they do. Several of the chemicals used in dentistry seem to have a smell which resembles anaesthetic agents. There are rules in most countries about room ventilation wherever inhaled anaesthetics are used. In my country, the entire volume of air in the room is required to be completely changed every twenty seconds. That brings the concentration of inhaled anaesthetics to parts per million extremely rapidly (within a minute or so, which is three complete changes of air). At this level, you couldn’t smell it, even with our most pungent agents. And nitrous oxide is effectively odourless.Despite some hysteria for a while there, exposure to residual traces of anaesthetic agents (such as in recovery nurses, who are constantly exposed to the breath of patients recovering from anaesthesia) has never been demonstrated to be harmful in humans. So your dentist isn’t exposing you to traces of anaesthetic vapours, and even if they did, it would almost certainly be harmless.

Smell of the hospital

Disinfectant because they have to keep it so sanitary to reduce the risk of people getting infections and what not. Basically the same smell as a dentist office
