Why Does My Snail Have A White Bulge On The Right Side Of His Head.

If the earth is rotating at a high speed and we jump up, why doesn't the earth move below us at high speed?

Since other answers have correctly mentioned the atmosphere and such, let's take it out of the equation for the sake of argument and see what happens. In terms of the difference in the helicopter's path vs. the ground, let's look at what happens during one whole day as the Earth rotates.  Assuming the helicopter can perform an ideal, vertical-acceleration-only hover, then the surface of the Earth and the helicopter have the same tangential speed as the Earth turns, due to conservation of momentum.  But, since the helicopter is now a few feet (~1 meter) above the ground, the path the helicopter takes to go around the Earth during one day is now slightly longer as compared to the surface itself. The added circumference of that trip all the way around the Earth for the helicopter turns out be just 2 times Pi times the height above the ground.  It takes the Earth just under 24 hours to rotate once on its axis, so the helicopter would have to move at an additional horizontal speed of maybe 18 feet (~5.5 meters) per 24 hours, or something like 0.00014 miles per hour (~0.00022 km/h) to stay directly over the same spot on the ground.  This is such a negligible difference in horizontal speed that you don't notice it in any practical system.A real helicopter would deviate horizontally by a speed that is orders of magnitude more than that when it takes off anyway.  And, of course, helicopters fly in the atmosphere, which is coupled to the ground.  It's also fair to say that wind speed dominates any effects from conservation of momentum, as it's orders of magnitude larger, even at high altitudes.  So, real aircraft worry about the difference in wind speed and direction vs. the ground, rather than orbital mechanics.

With hypothyroidism, are the finger nail ridges you get from this condition vertical or horizontal?

In my experience and knowledge, they are vertical i.e. they run parrallel to the length of the fingers.Like this:To ME, those nails look indicative of someone with pretty low energy. HypO nails are usually brittle, thicker, thinner, and often the moons disappear. My moons went awol, I have two small ones on my thumbs. NOW moons are appearing on two fingers on my left hand, but they’re growing at the speed of a snail with a sore foot. They’re growing very very slowly. I keep checking them, willing them to grow more. :DMy fingernails eventually had high ridges like in the ones in the pic above. My husband’s fingernails were identical, he had some extremely high ridges. Our toenails didn’t so much have ridges, they were more also ridged but the ridges were not identical to the ones on our fingernails. My husband’s toenails were thicker and were turning a yellowish colour. We both have ingrown toenails. Mine became quite painful. I developed them on ALL my toenails. I also get those hangnails on the corners of my fingernails. I’ve had those for decades, and have had ingrown toenails since my early teens. NOW I know that ingrown toenails are a red flag that shouts: hypothyroidism. :( :( :(NOW our fingernails look more like this:The changes are different for each nail. Weirdly they seem to improve at different rates. LOL! Those high ridges are taking forever to completely smooth down. They’re still visible but they don’t look like mountain ridges anymore. Our nails were also a bit paler when we were ill, and untreated. We now have quite pretty pink nails, they look like they belong on a living human, rather than a corpse. If ever there was such a thing as nail vanity, I have it now. I sometimes sit on the loo and admire my fingernails. :D :D My husband thankfully isn’t that vain. :D :D I stopped using any kind of nail varnish etc. for many years as they too are toxic. I eventually bought a few bottles of chemical-free nail polish but I have to say it takes way too much energy to paint nails. So it’s still something for the future. :D :DPics from Google.

What is the sticky white thing that sticks into my finger nails while I scratch my scalp?

OK, So I am no expert. Had been through these issues and took sometime to figure out.Scalp issueCleaning: Knowing the proper purpose and effects of your shampoo is very important. Repeated use of your favorite shampoo which gives a silky feel & shine are high on silicone and are not the best cleaning agent. They tend to leave buildup of sebum(natural oil) products and dust pollution over time. Dandruff is just on the way.On the other side, repeated use of cleansing or clarifying shampoo leads to dryness of scalp and damage of hair due to high sulfate or any other natural or fancy chemical which has exactly the same purpose or results. So balance is the key. Using a Tresemme/ Sunsilk type shampoos work fine every 2nd, 3rd or maybe 4th day and clarifying shampoo once a month and limiting not more than twice a month. For me, I usually keep a gap of 2–3 days for washing (not even water wash during this time. I got longer hair for a guy) and Clarifying shampoo like the one from Pantene once a month.Scalp Health. Oiling the scalp few hours or overnight before shampoo keeps it healthy. Again, no medical claims, just experience. Think as applying oil on the cracking or winter itchy skin. Oils are just good moisturizer. Try to keep it simple and avoid the once with many ingredients. Not because I avoid chemicals ( how I used to) but because you just don’t need them. Pure Coconut and olive oil are fine (no, you don’t need virgin/extra virgin). Mineral oils too works fine for me (I know your research might say not to but I am fine).Hair fall issue. What do you get for breakfast? When do you take your Lunch? Do you get proper rest? Not the answer you want, just what matters the most. That’s what stopped my hair fall. Personally, as long as I go for a breakfast of Boiled eggs(hate them), papaya and a glass of sugar less milk, I wont see much hair loss but if I start skipping food(not a big eater) I can see hair fall increasing and it gets worse.Scalp massage: I am a little hesitant on writing about this as the one argument I have in the favor of this is that every male in my extended family went bald by mid twenties except my Father and me(just turned 30) and I don’t want to jinx it :). I relate it to an hour of oil massage I use to give him while standing behind him, watching TV. That’s all. That’s why I do it.Basically, you got dandruff. Try above steps or special shampoos if not working. You’d be just fine.Hope that helps someone.

Giant afriocan land snail has THING on its head?

hey Rob,

Do you have any idea what speices the snails are? The Achatina, including snails like Tiger snail, have really tiny eggs while the other kind Archachatina, have quite large eggs. here is a pic, it's possible it was an egg. http://www.petsnails.co.uk/documents/species/arch_and_a_id.html#start just scroll down to egg size. The eggs come out of the hole between the snails body and it's shell on the right hand side, here is another pic http://www.petsnails.co.uk/care/breeding.html#b_mating scroll down to Gestation & Laying.
Check the snails tank for any eggs, if you find them freeze them. Unless you know for certain you can re-home them.

If it's not an egg, then possibly it was some sort of wound, and it healed it's self, or it's a type of mite. Bathing the snails can get rid of mites. Just put a couple of CMs of water into a bowl and sit the snails in the bowl. Or take the snail on your hand, hold over a sink and pour tepid water over it. Snails love baths, they come right out of their shells.

Why does my goldfish look dirty?

I got a goldfish.. just the regular kind, nothing special with like eyes bulging out of the side of their head or anything. And, he started out all gold, but now he looks dirty. Like he has black spots on him. I've had him for about a week, and I have changed his water already, so it's not like his tank is dirty and gross. Is there any reason he looks dirty? Is it bad? Is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks so much!

White spots on platy?

There are a couple white dots on my platy (it doesn't look like ich) and it's only on one female platy near the top part of her tail where it meets the body and also one near her side. The others are fine, and I think she's still acting normal.
10g, planted anacharis
2 female platies
1 male platy

What is wrong, what causes it?

Should I remove the platy?

Should i get rabies vaccine if a stray dog just touched his teeth on my hand?

Things to do-Wash the bitten / nibbled area with running for 15–30 minutes , use soap .( after that you can also pour some alcohol on it as it acts as an antiseptic)Go and visit a doctorAs rabies is 100% fatal and cannot be cured it is recommended to start the course of rabies vaccine.Inform the concerned authority about the dog so it can be confined so as to prevent other people from getting bitten.Observe the dog for a minimum of 10 days for the signs of rabiesIf the dog does not show signs of rabies the course of rabies vaccine may be discontinued.Course of rabies vaccine -Injection on 0, 3, 7, 14, 21 or 28th dayHowever it is not always possible to keep the dog in observation and considering the fatality of rabies , one should get the full course of rabies vaccine although it might be painful .Few facts about rabiesCaused by a RNA virus which is bullet shapedTransmitted by saliva of a rabid dogAffects the neurological system, the virus from the site of bite moves to CNS along the nerves, the farther the bite from head the longer it takes the virus to reach the CNSNot curable (though 2 cases have been cured but they are rather exceptions ) but can beprevented by vaccination .
