Why Does My Stomach Hurt After Drinking A Smoothie

Why does drinking pineapple juice hurt my stomach after a short while?

There are various reasons why this could have happen, one is sugar, two is acid and three is an empty stomach. Drinking pineapple is generally a good substance of anti-oxidant defence and vitamin c. And because of the large amount of vitamin c pineapples have, it could cause some abdominal/stomach pain. It depends on the amount you took and what is inside your stomach. Take less of it, drink more water, and if pain still occurs consult a doctor you might be high on acid or something.

Smoothies always make my stomach hurt so bad?

It sounds like you are allergic. Your stomach is finding it hard to digest which is why its hurting you. You need to isolate each ingredient so that you can work out specifically where the problem is. Then just cut it out of your diet. I know it is horrible to have to give up something you really like.:-(

I cant eat cucumbers if its any consolation.

good luck.

Pain in upper stomach and shoulders after drinking smoothies/juice?

That would be indigestion. You need to drink the smoothie slowly and kind of chew it a bit first, like swill it around your mouth.

If you don't think its that it might just be the apple juice. I know a fair few people that have the same problem so they just make their smoothies with something else. Pineapple makes a good base for a smoothie for example.

Since the burning only lasts about 20 minutes I am tempted to think that you are just drinking it too quickly and your stomach can't cope with all that goodness in one go like that!

Why does my stomach hurt after drinking things with crushed ice?

I find that every time I drink something with crushed ice in it (as if I was ordering a smoothie or lemonade drink with crushed ice), I get a big stomach ache and need to use the bathroom shortly after. I always forget to stay away from it so I tend to drink it when handed to me. I suppose I just don't think it's something that would need to make me use the bathroom, but I can't help but wonder why this happens to me. I don't know of anyone else who goes through this.

Are my green smoothies making me sick?

If you weren't eating a huge amount of fresh fruits and veggies before starting the green drinks, your digestive tract is probably going through an "adjustment" period, which is temporary, although annoying and uncomfortable. Not to be gross, but the pain is caused by gas, and the green stools is caused by the digestive tract moving the greens though too fast (not fully digesting them). Juicing or making smoothies out of greens pack in way more produce than you would normally eat in a single meal (when was the last time you ate several pounds of produce in one setting?). This can upset a digestive tract not used to those levels of fiber and nutrients all at once. Once your digestive tract re-regulates, you will start feeling the benefits (give it about a week or so), and the unpleasant side effects will go away.

I have Crohns disease, and after a particularly nasty flare up, the naturopath wasn't happy that the levels of multiple vitamins on my blood test weren't going up (because of the disease, I have problems absorbing nutrients). He recommended I switch from my regular, pill form multivitamin to a liquid multivitamin and that I start taking powdered greens (similar to what your doing with the green smoothies, but with less fiber). The first few times I took the new mix, I immediately threw it all back up. And for about 2 weeks after I was able to keep it down, it caused the exact same problems your describing. According to my doctor, that was a result of my digestive tract trying to regulate itself to higher levels of fiber and nutrients, and that I should keep taking it, since the symptoms were temporary. Sure enough, the symptoms did go away after about 2 weeks (my digestive tract is more sensitive than most people, so it probably won't take that long in a healthy person). I never went back to pill vitamins, and have continued taking the green drink (for about 3 years now), and have had no further issues beyond that initial reaction.

Why every time I eat or drink my stomach hurts and I have diarrhea?

Hi Osnel, What you are asking for is an internet diagnosis. We can not give you that. We don’t know you, we don’t know your medical history, we don’t know what meds you may or may not be on, we don’t know what food you’re eating, how long this has been going on, and we have no ability to run any tests on you, like blood work to make sure that you’re not becoming dehydrated from the diarrhea. or if your electrolytes are out of whack. Most of us are not doctors. It can be a very dangerous thing to ask for medical questions answers from people you don’t know! Its not safe! What we can do is to tell you that what you’re describing is not normal and you need to see a doctor pretty darn quick. And the longer this has gone on means the quicker you need to see that doctor! I truly don’t understand why people seek medical advice online from people that they don’t know. I guess they’re trying to get a diagnosis and save money by not going to see a real doctor. Understand, dehydration can kill you quite quickly when you have diarrhea for a few days and don’t seek treatment for it. GO TO A DOCTOR! NOT now, but YESTERDAY!

Why does the roof of my mouth hurt after eating acidic fruit like pineapple or kiwi?

Thanks for the answer request. There are substances called protease enzymes found in kiwifruit, pineapple and also papya. Protese enzymes are able to break down protein, which is why your mouth hurts after eating such fruits. It is a very common, but unpleasant reaction. In Kiwifruit the enzyme is named Actinidin, in pineapple the enzyme is called Bromelain and in papya the enzyme is called Papain.More fun facts:Since these enzymes break down protein, it means you can use the juice of such fruits as a marinade to tenderise meat. However on the other hand it means you cannot mix the aforementioned fruit or its juice in gelatine based jelly. Gelatine is a protein and if it breaks down, the jelly won't set no matter what!Further Reading:The Flesh-Eating PineappleFruit enzyme uses

Why I am feeling dizzy/light headed after drinking my green smoothie?

If you feel this way immediately after consuming it I don't know what to think besides maybe stop drinking them. But if your having one or multiple as meal replacements I would say that your not consuming enough calories. It sounds like your smoothie would make a good vitamin/mineral supplement but not an appropriate meal. That recipe is devoid of adequate proteins, fat, and complex carbohydrates. As it stands you are getting a good dose of fructose ( sugar ) and fiber ( no calories ). This smoothie is not an adequate meal, especially if you are an active person.Source: Why I Am Feeling Dizzy Light Headed After Drinking My Green Smoothie?I know (first hand) how frustrating vertigo and dizziness can be but I think most of the advice we’re given about how to deal with it is crap. At best is temporarily masks the problem. The whole thing can be frustrating as hell and reduced me to tears more than once.If you haven’t seen it already Vertigo Professor has a bunch of videos on Vertigo and this speciifcally is worth a look: How to (Properly) Overcome Vertigo and Dizziness (and Why Masking the Problem is Stupid)
