Why Does My Wrist Hurt For No Reason

Why does my wrist hurt for no reason?

See your health care provider as soon as possible. The wrist is the most frequently injured joint in the arm. Strains and sprains are common, and the small bones in the wrist may be fractured. Fractures of these small bones may be difficult to see on an X-ray. The most frequent fracture of the wrist involves the ends of the long bones of the forearm and is easily recognized because it causes an unnatural bend near the wrist. Physicians refer to this as the "silver fork deformity."

Fever and / or rapid swelling accompanying the onset of pain suggests the possibility of an infection. This requires prompt medical attention.
The wrist is very frequently involved in rheumatoid arthritis, and the side of the wrist by the thumb is very commonly involved in osteoarthritis.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause pain at the wrist. In addition, this syndrome can cause pains to shoot down into the fingers or up into the forearm. Usually there is a numb feeling in the fingers as if they were asleep. In this syndrome, the median nerve is trapped and squeezed as it passes through the fibrous carpal tunnel in the front of the wrist.

An examination and sometimes X-rays will be performed. A cast or sling can be applied. Pain medication is sometimes given, but acetaminophen or other nonprescription medication is usually adequate..
The key to management of wrist pain is splinting. The strategy is to rest the joint in the position of best function. Wrist splints made of plastic or aluminum are available at hospital supply stores and many drug stores. I hope this helps you. And good luck.

My wrist aches for no reason?

My right wrist has been hurting for the past few days...which is a problem because I am right-handed. It especially hurts when I apply pressure, when I twist my wrist, and when I rotate it to the right. It also cracks a lot. I don't think I did anything to injure it...I doubt it's fractured and I haven't been typing more than usual...I have been driving and drawing a lot this week but I don't feel like it's enough to cause this much pain. What else can it be? Thanks for your help :]

My ankles and wrists hurts for no reason?

You shouldn't regard this in any way as a firm diagnosis. You'd really have to get it checked out by a doctor to know for sure what was going on. But what comes first to my mind, that it could possibly be: gout.

Commonly gout causes an issue in a big toe, and since you don't mention that, you might think, Naaah! But gout can strike ankles and wrists and doesn't have to affect a big toe. The facts that you feel a binding tightness in addition to pain, your symptoms come and go, aren't felt in all four of those joints simultaneously, and are felt mainly at night are factors that are all suggestive of gout. It likely is some kind of inflammatory issue similar to gout or an autoimmunity disorder if it's not gout.

You can read more about gout here--several short pages of info about symptoms, tests, treatment, etc. to click through:

Good luck. I hope you get it diagnosed and treated soon.

My wrist is really sore for no reason?

My right wrist is really sore, but I didn't do anything to it.. It started hurting a little bit on friday, and then the pain got really bad, but then it went away for a few days and the pain came back worse yesterday? It's really sore whenever I move it, I cant grip onto anything because it's so sore.

What could it be? I think i'm going to the doctor about it today, but I don't want my parents to waste money at the doctor if it's not bad..

What should I do if my wrists hurt when I type?

If it's just your wrists, it's probably because you are or have been typing with your wrists in a position that isn't neutral. You want your wrists to be neutral along both axes - side to side and up/down. To get the side to side axis neutral, you should get a keyboard that lets your wrists stay completely straight (as if your hands were hanging relaxed at your side, and then you moved them to the keyboard without moving your wrists at all - just your arms). I use the Kinesis Freestyle keyboard (http://www.kinesis-ergo.com/free... ) to get my hands far enough apart that there isn't any strain on my wrists. Typing on a laptop keyboard can be especially bad for your wrists.Second, for the up/down axis, you should get a keyboard tray so that your whole forearms and wrists can be on a line parallel to the ground, so that there's no bend at your wrists. Without keyboard trays, most people end up with their keyboard too high, which makes them bend their wrists. Depending on your dimensions, a keyboard tray might not be able to come down low enough for this position without banging into your knees. If this happens, the Humanscale 2G keyboard tray (http://dev.humanscale.com/produc... ) is one to try that has an especially small mechanism to minimize the space between the bottom of the keyboard tray and the keyboard. If you have general problems and not just your wrists, see What should I do to minimize my RSI or pain from typing or computer use?.

What are some reasons my wrist hurts when I put pressure on it?

It can easily be a local trauma. Sometimes even minor things like putting your wrist in the wrong position can aid that little bit of trauma that ends up in painful sensation. I personally would of chosen to put some ointment onto it. If you just did something to your wrist, try local application cryotherapy to relief the pain and inflammation. That would be the best solution if possible.

Last night for no reason, my left wrist started hurting. It hurts bad when I try to pick anything up?

I did not injure my wrist in any way. It just started aching a little last night. This morning it is very sore and I cannot grip anything. I am typing with it now and it hurts a little, but when I move my hand to the left it is very painful.
