Why does my yahoo mail inbox say that I have (1) unopened message but there is no unopened message?
Open the inbox, click View All Messages, then unread messages, if you have any late arrivals or in folders, they will show. If not then it's because Yahoo says this is a glitch and will clear on it's own. Yahoo was contacted and they said their engineers are working on getting it fixed. This has been happening to us in the classic mail since Yahoo has been upgrading the classic. It did clear for us without doing anything to change or fix it. It will clear for you soon. Be patient.

We get that sort of thing sometimes too. I'm guessing that it's to do with the dates on the emails. You may not have had this, but we sometimes get spam with dates in the future. If you also got spam with dates in the relatively distant past and have a lot of emails in your list, they might drop off the bottom. Yahoo is OK at clearing up spam, but for some reason really obvious stuff seems to slip through sometimes. I'm just guessing really, but it does happen to this account as well. Since i seem to be the only person in the world who doesn't care about spam, this doesn't bother me either.
Please let customer care know, or please message me you user id. This usually is a rare case, it is possible that one of our maintenance programs might have failed, or because an IMAP transaction failed at some point. Either way, it is fixable.

Why does the Yahoo! homepage tell me I have more new email messages than I really do?
This happens to me all the time. If u go to OPTIONS and check the setting u have for BULK mail it might be at ZERO. This will be under SPAM PROTECTION. If it is messages that would be going to bulk mail they will be automatically deleted. If you want to see them set you bulk mail setting at something other than zero. Then you shud see the number of messages indicated. If u have eight messages, five might be in the inbox and the other three will be in bulk.....hope this helps...
This happened to me last week. As others have mentioned, there are the “Deleted Voicemails”; but I also had “Blocked Voicemails”—which was a lot!
Why does my mailbox say "you have 65535 unread messages in your inbox?" I have read them all...what's up?
This is obviously a computer glitch. The significance of the number is that 65536 is 2 to the 16th power. Computers use binary numbers and, to a computer, this is a nice round number. Likely what has happened is that your e-mail system thought you had one less message than you really had. When you deleted all of them, the mail system was left with -1 messages. The system simply rolled over backwards, the number before zero is 65535. Perhaps, if you sent yourself an e-mail from another system, the one with the problem will straighten itself out.

This has been an on going glitch with yahoo for months. If you have checked all your folders and there are no unread emails then it is the glitch. There is nothing you can do yahoo is aware of the problem and maybe they will get it fixed soon. Good luck!!!

How many messages are in your inbox? If you have several pages worth, you may have received 2 spam emails that have an old date stamped into the email they sent. For example, the date of the email might be March 31, 2005 even though today is June 29, 2007. I had one spam email that was dated in the year 2012 or something like that. Therefore, the mystery "2" you see might indicate 2 new emails embedded further back in your inbox. If you look at the old emails, you'll probably find them. Be sure to mark them as "Spam" so they don't bother you again. Hope this was the cause/solution!!
