Why Does So Much Time Go By In

Why does time go by so fast?

Daily, I find myself looking back and not being able to remember what happened, or how an event got so far away. A half a year seemed like two seconds. Even when you think time will never pass...it passes faster than expected even to me who lives the dullest life possible--Time flies and Im not even having fun. I look back and I'm like wow, that was three years ago. Or, oh wow we havn't hung out in four months.
I get depressed about it sometimes, and frustrated that I don't remember things very well. I fee like I'm living a half-life. I rule my life around the clock and its sad. I wish there was no such thing as time.
Like "just yesterday" I was in New Mexico it feels like, but that was almost ten months ago
I moved to Washington, and I hated it. But its been five months now.

For the older folks....40 years- did it go by so fast or slowly for you? That length of time is almost impossible for me to wrap my brain around. It seems so full of stuff and memories-but do u remember?

If world is round why does it take so much time to travel from Australia to America?

Huh? it doesn’t.Google maps can tell you all this. For example, a direct flight from Sydney to LA is 13 hours 40 minutes: Google MapsOn the other hand there are no direct flights from Sydney to Europe. It's just too far, planes can't quite fly that distance yet. There's talks about direct flights from Perth to Europe but they haven't happened yet, and even that really pushes the envelop. So to fly from Sydney to London takes bout 23 hours. Google doesn't show the stopovers, so if you go to Kayak, (KAYAK mobile - free iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps on KAYAK ) you can see that for example it's 14h 40m to Abu Dhabi, then another 8h 05m from there to London, a total of nearly 23 hours.Of course from London to the USA is quite a few more hours. So flying west from Australia to get to the USA is definitely possible, but takes a lot longer than flying east.So the short answer is if you think it's far from the USA to Australia (which it's not, really) that's because the world is big. Australia is not on the opposite side of the world from the USA either. The opposite side of the world from the continental USA is all between Western Australia, and Africa, mostly further south. You can check that on this page: Antipodes Map (AKA Tunnel Map) The opposite side of the world from Australia is basically in the North Atlantic, between the USA and Africa.

How much time does it take to go to Pluto?

There is no current manned spacecraft available that could take humans to Pluto. It has only been reached once by any spacecraft at all, that being the USA's New Horizons unmanned probe on 14 July 2015.New Horizons, which traveled at a speed near the upper limit of what was possible for such a probe on that trajectory, was launched on 19 January 2006. As such, it took nine years, five months, and 26 days to travel from Earth to Pluto. Basically, nine and a half years. This was only accomplished by using a launch window that allowed for a flyby of Jupiter. This yielded a gravitational slingshot and increased the probe's outbound velocity. Otherwise, it would have taken more than 11 years. We do have technology that would allow for reaching Pluto much faster, using an Orion spaceship utilizing nuclear pulse propulsion. Such a ship, which has never been built mainly due to political reasons, could reach Pluto within weeks. Unfortunately, there's no movement afoot to build it, although plans for one were drawn up as early as 1958.

Why does the Doctor spend so much time in modern Britain?

To add to Ara's answer, there are some canonical reasons for The Doctor spending a great deal of time in modern Britain.  At the end of The War Games, the Second Doctor is forced to regenerate and sent into exile in modern-day Britain by the Council of Time Lords.  The majority of the Third Doctor's first several seasons is spent almost solely on Earth because of that exile. While The Doctor had exhibited a curiosity at first, and then later, something of a fondness for humanity and for Earth, he had never been particularly attached to the planet in any great fashion until his exile.  After that exile, The Doctor makes himself something of a de facto guardian of the earth.  His other incarnations obviously go on many adventures through time and space - he even picks up at least one companion who isn't an Earth-human.  But he always has a soft spot in his heart for modern Britain. This especially comes into play after the Time War, when The Doctor has been forced to obliterate his entire planet and people.  I'd presume that, given his already established fondness for Earth and the fact that humans "look Time Lord," The Doctor would experience an even greater fondness for humanity and affinity for Earth.  They're the closest reminder he has outside of the TARDIS of his own people and home.

Why does MY THIRTEEN YEAR OLD SON SPEND SO MUCH TIME IN THE BATHROOM?

I believe you know the answer to this. Troll.

Why does my 13 year old son spend so much time in the shower?

I think your son just discovered masturbation.
Not to be crude, only honest.
If he recently started taking longer showers, his hair isn't long, he doesn't shave in the shower, then it is pretty obvious.
A lot of guys do it in the shower so they won't get caught anywhere else.

Working out in the gym: Why do people spend so much time working out in the gym to get big?

As a gym rat but not a huge muscle guy:1. The intersection of self-esteem and feeling good. You want to feel good about yourself and getting bigger/stronger makes you feel better about yourself. 2. Peers. If you spend time with drinkers, you drink. Spend time with lifters, you lift. Part self-selection, part reinforcement by milieu. 3. Not knowing better. Many guys don't want to learn as much as they want to do the lifts that make them feel what they need. And many are unwilling to work at the less glamorous stuff that makes you strong but not big. This partially reflects the rut effect of habit: they started to get bigger for esteem or sport and stayed on that path. And remember, people generally start with no instruction so they learn a limited set of what's possible. (I work with a trainer, but that costs and it requires commitment.)4.  It's easy to become an "arms guy" because you get visual feedback and you feel "bigger" in the competitive male world. Doing more complete strength work requires sublimating the external to a degree. And you need the mental strength to do routines that don't  look like what most lifters do.

Why does it take so much time to declare election results even though we have shifted to EVMs?

EVMs can record a maximum of 3840 votes. As normally the total number of electors in a polling station will not exceed 1500, the capacity of EVMs is more than sufficient.Number of polling stations in Lok Sabha Elections of 2009 : 830866Hence , the data from each polling station needs to compiled and all procedures have to be followed ( checking seal on the EVM for any tampering, admission of counting agents of political parties , etc).Hence, the process takes close to 6 or 7 hours.Sources :http://eci.nic.in/archive/handbo...http://eci.nic.in/eci_main1/evm....
