Why Does The American Media Race Bait So Much And Is There Any Way For It To Stop

In what way does "white" America contribute to escalating racial violence?

The white media is the ultimate race-baiter.  Wehn I read an article, for example, about the police brutality of African Americans there will be a small subject line stating "Total African Americans killed by police since Jan. 2015."  It implies, because it is below the present story, that the cop is guilty even though we don't even know the facts.   Also, for instance, when you read headlines concerning the latest incident in Baltimore, MD, it's just a given the  are police are guilty...SO, what happens?  The city becomes a battle ground.  Please explain to me why, even if the police are guilty of this horrible incident, a huge amount of the African American community start a riot, burn their own neighborhoods down, looting, etc.  THEN we read in the white media, "Riots, looting, and chaos due to African male dying while in Police custody.  Shouldn't we wait for a grand jury, or at the very least, some solid information before we burn the city down.  All I am trying to say is:  Aren't we just a tiny bit putting the "Cart before the horse?"   For me, until further notice, I will always support and give the benefit of the doubt to our nation's police forces....Why? Because they deserve it and put their lives on the line each and every day.  The good guys/police wayyyyyyyyyyyy out way the bad ones.  Just my two cents worth....hmm, maybe it was ten cents worth.

Are Race Relations Really that Bad in America?

I keep seeing stories all over the news about how bad race relations are. I live in California, where race relations are actually pretty great here. I haven't been able to travel very much so I just wanted to ask, what are race relations like in the area you live in and what part of the country do you come from?

Do you believe the American news media often behaves unethically? If so, how?

The media is currently stirring the pot of racial tension by constantly race-baiting. It is also fostering a divide between men and women in a similar way by constantly pushing divisive issues such as the alleged wage gap or alleged sexual misconduct without proof. Also as another answer below mentioned, the media unapologetically spreads assumption and rumor, getting people exited over things that are not even factual. The media in its current form is a plague.

Do people who use terms like "race-bait" or "race card" believe that racism doesn't exist in the U.S and that minorities are just making excuses?

I believe that some people do feel this way. A while back I was reading an article on Slashdot about the experiences of an African-American woman who worked in IT and had felt like an outsider throughout nearly her entire career. She described going to great lengths to fit in better with her colleagues, even taking up hobbies she had no interest in and suppressing her personality to act more like everyone else. Many times she was the recipient of racist and sexist comments, but she always tried to laugh them off to avoid any conflict. Despite her best efforts, she never felt like "one of the guys" and was constantly wracked with anxiety."She's just whining," was the general concensus among the commenters. "I live in Texas and I've never experienced any racism," one African-American man added scornfully.People tend to rely on their personal experiences. If they have never been the target of racism and they have never witnessed someone being abused in such a way, many will doubt that it actually happens. Even among those who realize how limited their personal experiences have been, many like to imagine that if they were being targeted in such a way they would respond to it better and it wouldn't be a problem. It's important to remember: don't believe everything you think!

Does Racism still exist in 2019?

I think it is due to a mentality. the only “anti-racist” mentality out there is essentially “instead of discriminating against minorities we will now put them on a pedestal”.Which doesn’t solve the problem since it goes back to putting people in a box. There is a white box, a black box, an Asian box…. forget nuance, you are either one or another, no middle ground allowed. Singer Drake for instance, counts as black. So people aren’t individuals they are representatives of their ethnic group. The same way they are according to the Klan. You aren’t one person but a “sample” of a larger ethnic group. This is not progress. The only way out of racism is to stop categorizing people according to their race. And no one in the anglo-saxon world is really doing that, instead they seem to prefer affirmative action and such things, which categorize people perhaps even more! Racism is still a thing because no-one really wants to get out of it.

Do you think this is outright racism by an American satirical website on India and in particular Assam?  Should Government of India sue this site? There was no disclaimer to show this was fake news and whats worse people on the Internet thought this happens for real. US website takes satire too far, makes up ‘Assam Rape Festival' Assam fumes at American website's 'rape festival' spoof - Hindustan Times

The Great American Mass Shooting Festival Begins Next Week (Response from India) - National ReportThis is a nice retort but in my opinion,we  Indians really need display  sangfroid towards such issues and articles. People have been doing much  more offensive stuff for a long time now, ever since internet  exponentially boosted an individual's ability to  go public with his opinions and you can't stop that. People who tend to  get annoyed only exacerbate the situation by making an immature display  of their vexation. I have seen articles that are far worse and much  more offensive and yet the targeted accept/ignore them with grace. It  only shows how much you believe in yourself rather than what a  particular inconsequential group thinks. I am a proud Indian and  it  bothers me when someone tries to vilify my nation but one needs to take  the High road in such circumstances.See, this was inevitable.India Ends Diplomatic Relations With The U.S. Over Satirical Article - National Report
