Why Does The Back Of My Neck Itch So Bad

Itchy rash and dry skin on the back of my neck?

I don't know what it could be, but you can try using Head and Shoulders shampoo, or any other shampoo that relieves dry skin near the scalp. Although it's not directly on the scalp, it's close enough, and it should work.

Why does the back of my neck itch so bad?

Use 2 mirrors to check the site or ask someone to look for you. It could be a rash, a bite (spider, mosquito, tick), an allergic reaction, or who knows what else. Try Benedryl for the itching (or a topical anesthetic), try using cold compress, and stop scratching it. I know, easier said than done. But some things can get much worse if you scratch...things like poison ivy or chiggers. If nothing helps, head to a doctor.

Why does your back get itchy when you cough?

The answer is neurological, specifically a special group of nerves called “sensory afferent nerves”. These nerves sense events in the periphery and send the information to the brain. They also mediate local defense responses.Cough is specific to the lungs. If the problem started in the stomach the sensation would be nausea. In skin the sensation is itch. All are symptoms mediated by these nerves but the nature of the response is determined by the organ where the nerves originated. So how can itch result from a cough? It occurs when these nerves that travel in bundles to the spinal cord and then to the brain. Neural activity can jump from one bundle of wires to another. So what’s happening is that nerves from the lungs that are causing cough, are activated telling the brain to cough. This neural pathway runs next to the nerves from skin which mediate itch. If the electrical signals jump from one wire to another wire, then you get both sensations - cough and itch. It’s a simple neural short circuit.

Why does my acne itch so much?

i would like to know if you are on any meds of any kind, for it or anything else, really before i could make an intellegent guess.

some meds irritate it, & also some foods do as well, try doing away w/the dairy, milk products, etc, & see if you see any difference.

if there has been a change in yur enviroment or any extra stress, that could be an inhibitor also.

my advice is that , & please what ever yu do, do not use bar soap, it is a clog filler & do not rub your skin. or use "harsh scrubs ' on it. only a clay based or smooth mask.......or it will do damage..

Why does my skin get so itchy after I take a shower?

I am not a pro on this BUT- because of neck issues, I alwasy take cold showers..all the way cold.

I do recall taking hot showers back when and I alwasy itched.

I don't even use soap for my body- We get clean actually from the friction of a wash cloth.

Try not using body or face "soap" for a while and even though its hard- Turn the shower on as cold as you can- It not bad once your in there- Feels better after too :-)

Every time I wear a "cheap" necklace I get itchy bumps on the back of my neck. How do I make them go away?

You are probably experiencing an allergic reaction to the nickel in the cheap jewelry. This is quite common (I have it as well). You will have to be very careful about the jewelry you allow to have contact with your skin. A high quality gold, sterling silver or surgical stainless steel are your best bets. The other option is to be certain a necklace lies under your collar rather than against your skin..

Why do spider bites itch?

Not all spider bites itch. There is extreme variety in the "recipes" for the venoms of various spiders. How these venoms affect humans is difficult to determine because human reports are usually not made by trained observers who have made their own pain scale. (There is one researcher who characterizes the bites of various kinds of ants by letting an ant of each species bite him, a very painful job.) Furthermore, the lab animals available for LD-50 (the dose that is lethal for 50% of the experimental animals subjected to it) tests react differently to the same venom. How a mouse responds to some venom may not be a good indication of how a human will react. The spider bites that make humans itch may have different components that cause an itching sensation. One component of some spider bites is Histamine, which is known to cause an itching sensation. Many spider venoms are described in one article written in Japan: Page on nifty.comJumping spiders have venom that contains citric acid and histamine according to another article with much info on spider venoms: Page on pnas.orgMy personal experience, including verified jumping spider bites, and one verified wolf spider bite, is that jumping spider bites definitely hurt, and I recall itching on the following day, and that the one wolf spider bite I received was such a brief and minor twinge that I would have ignored it had I not been watching the spider at the time it bit me. (I was really harassing the poor spider, trying to get her to slow down enough that I could catch and photograph her.) I received one bite by something that may have been a web-weaving spider that fell down the back of my neck. Whatever it was hurt for a few seconds and then went away, leaving no itching or other aftermath. My guess is that some bites contain venoms that are not themselves histamines but cause the human body to release histamine at the bite site. It is difficult for researchers to study many spider venoms, I suppose, because many spiders produce such tiny amounts.A more common source of itching, for tarantula keepers who have made pets of S. American species, is their urticating spines, which they scrape off their abdomens. These spines penetrate the skin and feel rather like the irritation caused by handling fiberglass insulation. Some people are more sensitive than others, so there may be toxins in or on the spines that cause varying reactions in humans, but that's just my guess.
