Why Does The Bank Decline A Purchase I Made Online

Why was my Chase Debit Card declined?

I took out a $200 withdrawal from the drive thru atm thingy at Chase Bank. And it was saying like you will be over the limit or something. Choose a lesser amount. And I had to make it 200. I think it still said that but then it allowed me to take it out. And then I spent $10 after that. And then I was about to spend like $5.30 at 7-eleven and then it was declined! I tried like 3 or 4 times. There's like MORE than enough in the account. i don't see how it would decline because of the withdrawal that I did earlier. How could there even be a limit on what I was withdrawing. I mean I only tried 400 at the most. And then 300. And then 200. Anyway, yeah it declined it. Why would that happen and what do i need to do now? Because there's a lot of money in the account so I don't see how. Thanks

Why does my debit card get declined?

You really ought to call your bank and ask why it was declined. It could have been declined for any number of reasons a side from not having the money in the account. The car company might have keyed some of the information in wrong (the card number, expiration date, or the security code). I see you mentioned you got a new card - have you activated the new card? There might be a problem if you haven't activated the new card, the system may be looking for your old expiration date. If this isn't something you normaly pay on your card, then the bank might have thought it was possibly fraudulent and declined the charge as possibly fraud. If that is the case, the bank should be able to make some sort of notation that it is a valid charge. Regardless of the reason for the charge being declined, the bank should be able to tell you why, and how to resolve the situation.

My debit card was declined but i have money in the bank...?

This has always been a tricky scenario.. While it is true that banks have a limit, this limit applies to cash which can be drawn out from an ATM and not a purchase.. Trust me when I tell you the banking industry would receive so much flack if they capped a debit card amount every day.. They were the ones who wanted people to get away from writing checks and utilize the cards because the costs were lower for them..

Depending on the merchant company a restaurant uses, the merchant may create a soft authorization for an amount higher than your hard authorization (the true purchase).. This is done because people will commonly include tips or add items to the bill.. In the past, a waiter/waitress would go back open up the ticket and amend it.. This would cause the charge to be forced through (with the bank being required to pay even though funds may not be available)....

Two other possibilities for you..

1 - The merchant company in question who processes the card transactions for the restaurant has a glitch with their system which could be causing the card transaction to reject prematurely.. This happens a lot at certain gas stations... In this case, if you know you have the money, it would be advisable to process as a credit.. When they do this, a different algorithm processes the transaction and 99.99% of the time it is approved..

2 - Some banks insist on a customer having a set amount of a reserve (or %) in your account, even though it is your money... This is common for some banks because of charge-off problems on accounts in the past.. When this happens, they must adjust policy to protect themselves (FDIC requirement)...

Hope that helps..

The reasons could be many, from your question I understand that the transaction request has reached the Bank and the Bank has declined the transaction. This could be because of wrong PIN.Bank would have suspected that the transaction is happening too frequently and their fraud management systems would have given an alert. You would have done a transaction that is not supported by the Bank or for that type of card. (For eg., if you do an UPI transaction for a value more 200000 in a single transaction some bank may reject it as they would have set limits for a single transaction.)Could be because the system at the bank side is down and is not able to process the transaction. These are some of the common reasons, for anything specific it is better that you give a call to their call center and find the exact reason for the decline.

Debit card declined online and in person?

Here again is yet another genius who does not ave the intelligence to cal the bank that issued the card to find out why.

A person with some common sense would have done that IMMEDIATELY when it first happened, but not this Mensa member, he feels it is best to come here and ask STRANGERS about something that only his bank has the answer to

WHY does my DEBIT CARD keep being DECLINED?!?

For Credit and finance solutions I visit this site where you can find all the solutions. http://LOANSANDFINANCES.INFO/index.html?...

RE :WHY does my DEBIT CARD keep being DECLINED?!?
OK, here are the details, and if you use your debit card a lot or have experience with this situation, please advise!

I use my debit card (bank card with a VISA logo on it) to make most purchases. YEsterday I tried to purchase some items online at Forever 21's website...I have made at LEAST 20-30 purchases from them and nothing ever happened before, but yesterday the card came up declined! I had just gotten paid also so I don't get it!

I called my bank and checked that my AVAILABLE funds were sufficient...they were. So I gave it the rest of the day, and this morning I tried again on the site but it is still happening! And I know the card is OK b/c I even took money out of the ATM this morning...

Is it me? My card? My bank? or Forever's website?! And I haven't made a billion purchases to signal to the bank that my card might be stolen...this was the first I had tried to use the card in about 2 days (aside from using the ATM 2 times) WHAT GIVES? Any suggestions?
And please no silly answers like stop shopping or something.. I AM NOT an airhead shopaholic...I just have a decent well paying job and I like to buy clothes! lol...thanks to all who answer!

Banks track your transactions across different POS. when the algorithms detect unusual or suspicious activity, they disable transactions from that POS as a precautionary measure. You may have noticed the same thing happening in facebook when you sign in from a completely different location.

This is general thing to decline the payment because some bank does not allow international payment. The main reason behind this due to security reasons only bank does not allow international payment without your permission.Same thing happen when you pay to google or Facebook for advertising campaigns.Solutions:The best solution is go to nearest branch ask him to allow your internet payment, because without allowing then you are not allow to make international payment. Also check for:Gofferkart - Today Coupon, Promo Code and Cashback Offer 2017

Some banks are not allowing PAYTM to withdraw amount from bank. Earlier 2 - 3 times I have tried to recharge my DataCard through PayTM using Syndicate Bank Rupay Card and also SBI NetBanking system, both have given similar errors. I don’t know the exact reasons ,but I somewhere I have read that PayTM is having some security related issue, that is why some banks are not allowing the transactions.

Most likely your purchase was declined due to insufficient funds in the bank account associated with your card number. If you had sufficient funds available, then it's possible there was a communications issue somewhere along the pathway between the merchant and the issuing bank. These are typically rare and intermittent. ThIs could happen with ANY brand of card. Often trying again results in success (again, presuming you have sufficient funds to cover your purchase)I hope that helps!
