Why Does The Upper Part Of My Chest Hurt

Why does my middle part chest hurt?

Your middle chest area is your esophagus. This sounds like acid reflux... which means acid from your stomach is rising into your esophagus. Wait at least 30 minutes before doing any physical activity after you eat or drink.

My mother an sister suffer from Gurd, a gastronomical disease where anything they consume above a certain ph level causes acid reflux, despite how long they wait to exercise. For them, acidic foods include tomatoes, coffee, alcohol, lemons, meat, etc., so they generally avoid them.

You might be developing a minor case of Gurd. But if this is your first time experiencing acid reflux, then it's unlikely. I would test your tolerance to acidic foods (without exercising) to see if you have a similar reaction.

Why does my upper chest hurt?

Please do not rule out your gall bladder as the problem. It can make the are under the right breast hurt. the pain can also radiate around side and up through the middle in the center of our backs. the long muscles) I thought mine was pneumonia or caner...it was my gall bladder. Try drinking 2 cups of apple juice which contains pectin and that can get the gall moving. You don't want an infection (if it really is gall bladder) because an infection means your gall bladder could burst and this can kill you.
Try the juice, wait about 20 minutes and see if some of the pain is relieved.
If not, then you still got your vitamins. :)
Either way, go see a physician. Please, Dear.

Why does my chest hurt?

Negative. It is the left side that is a sign of a heart attack, but you can't rule it out seeing as 1 we don't know your medical history 2 You have not provided adequate symptoms, such as where exactly is the pain located, is there anything other than what you have stated that makes it better/worse? Does it hurt when you poke on it?

Here are four possibilities it may be(although I don't think it is the first one, it isn't in the right area for it, but can't rule out the possibility.)

Costochondritis(inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone) is a common cause of chest pain in children and adolescents. Chest pain associated with costochondritis is usually preceded by exercise, minor trauma, or an upper respiratory infection. The pain usually will be sharp and located on your front chest wall(the pain can be recreated if you press on it). It may radiate to your back or abdomen and is more common on your left side, but it can be on either side.

Pleurisy(Inflammation of the lining of the lung). The symptoms of pleurisy are chest pain and difficulty breathing. People often describe it as a stabbing pain, and it usually gets worse with breathing. The pain may always be present, but it usually gets worse when you breathe in. It is usually is on only one side of the chest, but may extend to a shoulder or the belly. It is usually worse when you cough, sneeze, or suddenly move. May ease when you hold your breath or press on the painful area.

It could just be a chest muscle strain or you may have just bruised your rib(these two seem most plausible), but just to rule out any other possibility you should go see a doctor. Hope this helps

Why does my chest and upper arms hurt after I sneeze?

I'd say the force of a sneeze could cause some of that. I am more likely to get a migraine after a major sneeze, & my one shoulder hurts, but for me, I have C3-7 radiculopathy in the neck & a permanently separated shoulder on the same side…& the radiculopathy often causes a migraine by itself, sneeze or no, & the shoulder & upper arm hurt right along with it.If you're not subject to neck or upper back pain, & have no injury to that arm, it might be worth asking your doctor about ii. It's one of those thing to jot down on your list of things to ask on your next visit.

Why does my chest hurt when I run?

It is simply the muscles in your upper body tightening up during your run. It doesn't matter if you run or exercise regularly, your muscles can still tighten up too much. And not being properly hydrated can also cause your muscles to hurt.

Heartburn can be part of it from the stomach tightening up during the run. Heartburn isn't just a burning sensation or even a burning sensation, so don't dismiss it out of hand.

You being paranoid about the sensation can also cause stress, which in turn would contribute to the pain.

Why does the left part of my chest hurts bad?

Well, I have had chest pain at the top left part of my chest. If I breath it hurts. Feels like a needle going through the pain and it hurts so bad. I sometimes have it hurting under my ribs at the left. Anyone know this reason? I'm thinking its serious because one day I took a shower the right side of my ribs, i had a hole and it was bleeding.. o.o I did nothing.

I get a sharp pain in the upper part of my chest, what does this mean?

Why does my chest hurt after smoking?

What part is it hurting on. If it’s towards the bottom or a corner of your chest, it’s most likely heart burn(that’s nothing serious).Or you could be going through inner pulmonary issues. You might have a heart attack if you smoke again. Your arteries will shrink up and block the cardiac blood flow(blood to your heart). The bronchioles or alveoli could be shriveling. Most terrifyingly, your heart could be shriveling up and decaying as you read this.I STRONGLY suggest you stop smoking soon. Either of these things could case you to have a heart attack, stoke or seizure.Eat fruit, mainly red apples and oranges. Stay away from a ton of bananas. Eat more vegetables than fruit. Don’t put a lot of seasoning on your food unless it’s black pepper, natural lemon and pepper seasoning or cheyenne pepper; don’t cover your meal with cheyenne though, has barbecue flavor in it. No salt unless it’s see salt. Lessen your dairy intake, especially pasta, thick breads, cheeses of ANY kind……..yes, Cheez-its too(sorry, cheez-it fans). Most importantly, DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT eat P-O-R-K. Pork is the by far WORST option when you’re trying to recover.DO NOT exercise until chest pains are COMPLETELY gone, COMPLETELY.Heart attack could strike right there.Stay away from starch, specifically rice or any kind. for people who lack experience, make sure to rinse the starch out until there’s NO trace; if your parents cook for you, still make sure.Drink 2 gallons of water a day. It will be difficult so start out small. Slowly increase your intake levels by day if you can. Sooner or later, it will become a habit.Good luck. I wish you the best, whoever asked this.

Left side of my chest hurts...why?

ok.... I've always been weird about my heart... Sometimes it skips beats and my chest hurts, and I've went to the hospital about it!! There are several things that it could be. THE MOST common thing is GAS!! Yes, that's right, good ole bean excess!! When I went to the hospital, I showed them that it hurt on my left side right above my boob. Well, it turned out to be pulled rib muscles- I'm an upright bass player, and that plus the gas caused me to think I was having a heart attack at 23!!
Anyway, your heart will do weird things. period. If you have heart problems, it will hurt right in the middle, just below your sternum. (I think that's how you spell it). So, if your heart is beating fast, it is usually only ANXIETY!!!! Yes, I know, sounds silly, but your mind works in mysterious ways!! Your hands probably are not a result of your heart. If you're having a heart attack or heart problems, it is going to be REALLY bad pain in the middle of your chest, and your LEFT arm will hurt really bad too. Lots of people go the doctor EVERY day because they think they're having heart problems when it is only a pulled muscle or gas.
That being said, if you really think something is wrong and you're over 30, go to the hospital!!!!!! Dying is way worse than being embarrased for nothing, so go. And it will relieve your anxiety!!

What causes upper and center chest pain?

In my 20 years experience in the emergency department I have to admit that most of the pain you are describing is essentially caused by acid reflux. This kind of pain is frequently associated with the heart, but when these people come to the emergency department we run all the tests to indicate whether it was heart related or not. To be frank only about 5% are truly having a heart related situations. Most of the rest are having gastric esophageal reflux disease. This is known as GERD. When we give these people some sort of antacid preparation they are frequently relieved dramatically. These people need to be on some sort of anti-acid medication such as ranitidine, or even the stronger omeprazole. These are now both available over the counter. The area where the esophagus enters the stomach is a known area of gastric acid burning. The bottom part of the heart is also located exactly at the same place, so much so that the muscle that closes the esophagus and the stomach is known as the “cardiac” sphincter. Interestingly enough there is also an immediate relief of pain when given a dose of nitroglycerin sublingually, because the flat muscle of the esophagus responds almost like heart muscle to this preparation.
