Why is he calling me 'kiddo'?
I don't understand. This is a guy I'm really attracted to. We talk a lot and hang out at work after I clock out...he gives me backrubs, wishes me sweet dreams before bed, and sends me good morning texts. He's invited me out quite a lot, but I'm too bust lately... I'm afraid I'm getting his signals mixed up, because he doesn't have a ton of friends in the area, since he's from Ohio. He's older than me by 9 years, but we have a really strong connection, and I feel like while we're not on the same intellectual level (he is very, very smart--much more than myself), we're very near--if not on--the same maturity level. So before he had to leave work, he texted "Okay, kiddo..." and then told me he had to do something, and that he'd text me when he got home. I was a little disappointed by this....should I tell him it bothered me? I'm pretty sure he knows I'm attracted to him, and from his behavior I'd say he feels the same, but this confused me to no end. Any help would be appreciated.

It's usually an affectionate term, for someone you care about and think is cute (what kind of cute depends, though). The nickname itself doesn't automatically mean "friends" or "more than friends" - that depends on the people involved and their relationships. What I think it means is "I think you're cute and you give me warm fuzzies".

Complicated! So, this friend of mine who is about 10 years older than me recently became my boss. Since then, I have been trying to figure out what his deal is... he either REALLY likes me or he's gay... and I can't figure out which!! I know, it sounds ridiculous, but I've talked to others who know us about it, and they agree the whole thing is a mystery. We get along great and have a ton of things in common, and with all the time we spend together at work, I apparently have developed a monstrous crush on him. He's a very private person, so he really doesn't discuss his personal life with anyone... the question looms and we can't figure him out. Lately, I've been trying to be friendlier to give him a subtle idea of my interest... and he seems to be responding, but today he called me "kiddo." I can't figure if that means he knows and is wary of the boss/age factor and is trying to point that out/remind me of it... or if it is a term of endearment???

Honestly? They probably sense that you are a kind person and are probably also attractive. Small children, even tiny babies are more attracted to pretty people, people who smile, laugh, have higher voices and act happy. The parents probably think it's cute, and just choose not to pick at the kids for liking you. If the kids bother you, just be real nice and ask them what they want and then say that it was nice meeting them and that you have to go bye-bye now. (Then, walk real fast to another aisle)
