My driver's side window doesn't go down. What do I do if a police officer were to stop me for a traffic violation?
Keep your hands visible while signaling to the officer your window doesn’t work.The officer should catch on pretty quick; s/he’s probably pulled people over countless times with inoperable windows.Now, what not to do: Don’t do anything the officer doesn’t tell you to do. Pull over, let the officer come up, and motion that you can’t open your window. S/he may ask you to get out of the vehicle, may go over to the passenger window, etc., depending on department policy.A story to illustrate this point: I once had a cop pull a gun on me. I didn’t do anything wrong (at least not legally wrong), but as he was walking up to my car, I thought it would be a good idea to pull out my registration and insurance card, kept in my glove box. Little did I know, that there was an incident the night before of a guy pulling a sawed off double barrel out of his glove box and trying to use it on the officer pulling him over.The officer apologized profusely, told me why he did it and I learned not to reach into my glove box until the officer orders me to. I didn’t get a ticket. But, to be honest, I would have preferred a ticket over hearing “GET YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEEM THEM, NOW!” with a 9mm pointed at me.
Power window doesn't work, drivers side, 2001 gmc sierra, tried new motor and switch.?
you need to check and make sure it has power getting to the motor,if there's no power at all to it no motor will work on it,take a test light and see if there's any voltage at all getting to it,and then go from there with it,good luck on it.
My drivers side window motor was just replaced and still doesnt work,would the fuse need to be replaced?
check next to the side of dash by drivers door for fuse panel.....check fuse 8 (courtesy lamps)..and circuit breaker 15 (window)
Driver's side car window doesn't work; will car pass inspection?
Driver's side car window doesn't roll down without falling off the tracking and getting all messed up. My car needs its yearly state inspection. Will this cause it not to pass? Will they even test the window? I want to tell them not to use the window because then it will get stuck in the down position and it costs $300 to fix. I just want to keep it up all the time because I never need to use it so why should I pay $300?

OK, I'm the expert on this one since this is all we do. Specifics are at Power Window Repair Tampa or you are welcome to ask here. In general,If you hear a click as you depress the switch down but no click as you press the switch to go up it might be the actual multi button window switch. Usually if one switch is bad neither switch works.If you hear a click in both directions it might be the window motor. Some can be changed alone, some require you to change the entire assembly (with the regulator). If you want to get the window back up try this. Start the vehicle, open the door, with one finger on the button to put the window up slam the door closed with your other hand. Might get the window working again for a time.If you hear a crunching, grinding sound your regulator (the cables that pull the glass up and down on a metal cross bracket) is usually broken. If you can get the door panel off you can probably push the glass up by hand. If you encounter resistance it is ok to cut the metal cables (never cut an electrical wire) as your get new cables with the new regulator.NEVER try to pull the glass up with a pair of pliers. Glass is pretty strong stuff but much like a diamond can be shattered.To answer your question as to how to repair a specific window would need to know year, make, and model. My driver side power window switch can only make the passenger side window go down, not up. Passenger switch works fine. What could have gone wrong?
The window switch looks like this: Basically, it enables the switch to reverse polarity, depending on which way you press the button. Because the switch completes 2 separate circuits, there are 2 sets of contacts inside. One for up, one for down.Most likely, one of the contacts for the up circuit is dirty or damaged. It is also possible that the "up" wire running from the switch to the motor is damaged somewhere along the path from the drivers door to the passenger door.If you can access the switch, it is easy to "jumper" the wire together, effectively bypassing the switch to figure out if the rest of the circuit is ok. You can probably do that with a paperclip. You know the motor is ok because the other switch works fine.
Power windows on my dodge neon 2000 don't work!?
my dodge neon 2000 has power windows in the front. Driver's side window doesn't work at all. Passenger side window works normally with passenger window switch. With master power window switch which is on driver's side I can open passenger's window but I can not close it. Could anybody tell me what could be wrong?

On the drivers side switch panel there are switches for both driver and passenger windows as well as the power lock switch. The switch will not operate the passenger side window. I do know the motor is good at the passenger side because you can raise/lower the window from the passenger side switch.

I'm fairly certain that the switch is working since you're not getting feedback from the motor from either switch. If it was the actuator, it would be an intermittent problem, so I'd look into the regulator, or the window motor. Good luck!

Fuse or switch? Change the bad fuse or exchange the switch with one from a window that still works. That will reveal a bad controlling part. If that doesn't help, examine for a short on that one window or, since the driver's window gets used the most, suspect the motor is worn out.
