Why Doesnt The World Series Have An Equivalent To A Half Time Show

Does baseball have half time?

I know! I should know this! I grew up in a family that didn't encourage sports watching and now that I'm 22; trying to get in to it. I'm watching red sox play the angels right now. So: Does baseball have half time?

Why did the Yankees win far so many World Series compared to all the other teams?

A little history lesson here -- the Yankees learned in 1920 how to use their advantage in terms of market size to take in dollars and make their team better. (Yankee Stadium's construction obviously helped here in 1923.) New York was able to keep a pipeline of players coming in, as there was no restriction on signing young players back then. Teams just couldn't compete in some cases.

In 1965, the amateur draft arrived to even out the prospect supply, and the Yankees stopped winning championships for a while (1964-1976). They won a few when free agency arrived in the 1970's -- money was an issue, but that front office was smart -- and they did it again the late 1990's. Lately, New York hasn't been as smart, and the Yankees have been blanked.

Why doesn't college baseball get more television time?

Much as I hate to disagree with the man, I'd say one of the main reasons is the exact opposite of the second point Jason McDonald cites: younger players are just too far removed from the skill level of the majors for the sport to hold much appeal to most viewers.A great college football or basketball team wouldn't be any match for a pro team, but they do have plenty of individual players who are a few months away from the big stage.Even if you had 100% of the pre-pro talent (with no high schoolers going straight to farm teams) the college game would be unrecognizably primitive to anyone used to pro ball. Give or take the occasional Strasburg, the only college players who are anywhere near ready for the bigs are two pitch relievers and the like. The vast majority of the top talent is years of development away from playing on television. And the rest of these huge rosters are filled out with players who will never even see the minors. If all you know if major league baseball, college players frankly stink, and it shows. The proximate cause is of course that college baseball simply doesn't have the following that college football and basketball do. But one of the main root causes of that, I suspect, is that the college game is just too primitive compared to what fans are used to.

How many times has England won the World Cup?

England have only one the World Cup once in the history of the competition, beating West Germany 4–2 in extra time at Wembley .Helmut Haller put the Germans ahead in the 12th minute before Geoff Hurst equalised 6 minutes later, on the 18th minute. Martin Peters then scored a goal on the 79th minute , yet with one minute to go and England’s within blinking distance of winning their first World Cup trophy, the Germans drew level through a strike from centre back, Wolfgang Weber, forcing the match to go into extra time.In extra time however, England were able to put the game past the Germans, with two more goals from now hatrick hero, Geoff Hurst on the 101st,and 120th minute. To this day, No other player has scored a hatrick in the final of a World Cup.
