Why Has My Minecraft Fps Been Lower Than Normal The Last Week Or So

Why won’t my laptop run Minecraft past 30fps, when I know for a fact it is capable of running at higher frame rates?

There can be several problems.Minecraft is using the incorrect GPU (video graphics card), if you have more than one. 30 FPS sounds like a high-end Intel GPU is being used. Pressing F3 will show which GPU Minecraft is using. If you have a more powerful GPU (ie, NVidia), you may switch Minecraft.exe and Java to run on your more powerful card through the card’s options. You can usually get to those options by right-clicking the desktop. You have a 4k monitor. This one hit me when I first got a 4k laptop. The graphics were so smooth- but at the same time, my FPS was right around the 30 mark when it is capable of over 200. Unfortunately, I have found no way to solve this except to set my monitor’s resolution to 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. This will make MC run at the “normal” resolution. This will make your MC slightly uglier. You don’t have Optifine! Optifine is a special mod for both modded and unmodded Minecraft which can greatly boost your FPS and enhance the graphics. You will have to fiddle with the graphics options to figure out your ideal quality to performance balance. Users report boosts of up to 60 FPS over their original FPS, depending on their GPU and graphics card. It also increases chunk load rates and makes your FPS more stable. There is really no reason not to have this mod.Minecraft doesn’t have enough memory. This is a rare occurrence which usually happens on older computers. First, make sure you have recent 64-bit Java installed. You can just go to the Oracle or Java websites and install it from there if you are unsure. In MC’s launch window, you will find advanced launch options. Allocate more memory through the parameters. You can find guides online. Then, once MC is loaded, open task manager. From there, you can give MC “high priority” by right clicking on the MC process.Other programs on your PC are mucking things up. Make sure nothing else is running. Check for resource-intensive programs through task manager. Try using CCleaner, it’s a free utility available online. It basically clears up trash files from your computer. After using CCleaner, try defragging your hard-drive. You will find those options in the start menu search.

Are These Good Minecraft FPS?

Meh , MC is a fairly unintensive game for a PC , although the high end settings can be seriously damaging for fps compared to what you actually get out of it (I'm looking at you , far render distance )
The problem is you're not exactly talking about what you WANT to get out of it.
If this is simply about whether the FPS is "good " then it's what you see on the screen - some PC gamers hate having things lower than 60 FPS , as they're used to that and anything less doesn't feel " Smooth ". However , many people can't notice the difference - Consoles like the Xbox360 and PS3 are LOCKED to 30 FPS , and many people are fine with it.
Honestly , if you can't feel the difference between 60 fps and 40 fps , then ramp those settings up.
FPS is just how smooth your game is , and if you can't notice the difference , there is no point having 10 more frames a second for a worse looking game.....
Please give me more information on what your'e trying to ask ?

Do Minecraft Mods lower Framerate?

That depends on if there is an extra item constantly on your screen. For example, Minimap mod or Mo' Animals mod does slower your frame rate very, very, slightly (Not enough to affect you) where as some mods such as Railcraft only add items in your game that you can use by crafting do not slow down your FPS.

The only real way mods are going to slow down your FPS is if you load a crap ton and your computer is not powerful enough to handle it.

Why can't my great PC run Minecraft well? I am getting FPS drops from 60 to 45 all the time and it drives me nuts. Especially when I should be getting above a hundred on max settings.

My guess is you just need to upgrade your PC. Minecraft primarily needs Ram to run well, if you have anything above 8gb of ram you should be fine as long as your CPU and GPU are at least mediocre.I suggest you try out a site called “Can I Run It" (I would link it, but the link is unnecessarily long and I don't know how to link it to text) This site will have you download and run this thing that checks your PC specs, and when you look up games on the site it will compare your specs to the minimal and reccommended specs. If your PC doesn't match up with the recommended specs it will show you which hardware you need to upgrade, if any.Another possibility is if you're playing on a server, the server may be causing your FPS to drop due to some issue with the map.My tip: If you don't have 8gb of ram your PC Isnt “great" as 8gb of ram is sort of required if you want to be able to play almost any games. I honestly would suggest moving up to 16gb of ram if you can, and upgrading your GPU and Processor if it doesn't meet the requirements.Edit: When you say great, I'm assuming you're PC doesn't have terrible specs, which is primarily why I said upgrading those specific parts. As I read other answers, a few other things that could play large roles in it is your Hard Drive or SSD, Overheating Issues, and viruses.

Why does my Minecraft lag whenever I have Netflix open?

This is probably one of two things. First, are you trying to connect to a server for minecraft? If so, then the combination of Netflix + Minecraft is probably too much for your internet connection to handle. I recommend performing a speed test to see what your download and upload speeds are. If the numbers are low, you have your problem. I'll link a few in the source list.

The other thing it could be is you may be overtaxing your graphics card. What model of graphics card are you using? If you do not have a graphics card, and are running off the onboard video, that's going to be an issue. The onboard video (which is built in to your motherboard) is not meant to be used for anything major. About the most it can do would be playing flash based content, such as youtube videos. What graphics setting do you run minecraft on (fast or fancy)? If it's fancy, try switching to fast. If you are using fancy, and want to keep using it, look into getting a graphics card. I'll link you some sites where you can buy them in the source list. Hope this helps!

Online speed tests. Make sure you are not running any programs other than your browser when speed testing, in order to get the most accurate results.
