Why do many people like David Bowie so much?

I clearly remember waking up at about 3 in the morning to go to the bathroom and opening up the CNN app and seeing the headline “BOWIE DEAD”. I was devastated. I don't care about celebrities much but his death particularly hit me. I had been waiting to get his new album for a couple months since he had released his videos “Blackstar” and “Lazarus”. And to see two days after the release of his last studio album that he had died was just too much. Bowie transcended music. He was a great talent that had a great ear for taking ideas and sounds from other musicians and styles and using them in different ways to create something his own. Every album of his was different and changed with the times but each one was Bowie. He collaborated with many other great musicians as well. Bowie was also one of the first musicians that made being different acceptable. He was extremely influential. From what I have read and heard he was a pretty good human being as well. He had a few demons in his past but overall he was a good person. I have been going back through his music this last year listening to the albums I loved and discovering ones that I never listened to. And better yet my 6 and 3 year old are enjoying many of his songs with me and request their favorite “David Booowie” songs everytime we are in the car!

Why is the statue of David so famous?

It's hard to say for certain why any one piece of art captures the public's imagination, while equally good pieces languish in obscurity.
