Why Is Everything Such A Ripoff In The Usa

Why does Canada copy the US in everything?

Its a pretty simple answer actually. Back in the early 1400's when Canada finally got the internet up and running, they saw all the cool stuff the US had, and were like "we totally need to get iPod and what not, eh?" Emails started flying and something had to be done and the social evolution of Canada (SEOC) had begun.
Eventually this social evolution was maintained by The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC) of Canada. By the late 1940's and 50's, the JCPC concluded the US had fun holidays and integrated them as well, while still maintaining their own (Queens Day, Maple Syrup Day, and the Canadian favorite Wayne Gretzky Day). Recent voting in the JCPC has outlawed the progression towards complete integration into the United States, but the vote was close with 67 y'ehs, and 41 n'ehs. Further voting on this issue was banned by the JCPC fearing future loss of the Canadian provinces. As late as 2006, changing the name of provinces to states was voted on, but voted down again.
The US congress claims to have no comment on the issue, but I think they are secretly planning to take over Canada. Who wouldn't want all those moose?

Why does china rip everything off?

is it mandatory in china to teach their children that original ideas are bad? I simply do not understand what compels them to produce so many knock off items. Including about 3 fake apple stores which is by far the most bizarre thing I have ever heard of. Actually now that I think of it, even more bizarrely, they did decide to make starcraft and warcraft themeparks, and Im certain it violates copywrites on blizzards behalf. damn china I don't understand why you do this!

Do you think vets try to rip us off?

I find that I often have to ask the vet for certain tests, procedures, and drugs. There are so many people who are reluctant to take proper care of their pets that they are afraid the dog will stop getting health care altogether if someone thinks it's too expensive. Personally, I have never had a vet recommend anything I felt unnecessary.

I don't know how vets could be in it for money...nurses with 2-year degrees make more money and have less educational debt than most vets do. I don't think that many vets make what they "should"...I know that my vet spends a small fortune on running his own lab, buying new equipment, and having a small army of staff. Trust me, I am happy he doesn't charge more for what he does, but if he did, I'd pay it.

Why do people sue for everything in America?

Well, to get the legitimate reason out of the way . . . there are a LOT of people and companies out there acting irresponsibly and carelessly, causing injury to people and property (e.g., a grocery store letting a broken jar of mayonnaise sit in an aisle for hours until someone slips and falls because of it, or a business polluting a river until people downstream are harmed by it). And people have a right to be compensated for losses incurred thereby (I’m sure you’ve seen Erin Brockovich (2000) and Silkwood (1983)).But a big reason for court-clogging litigation until fairly recently was . . . easy $$$$. Until about 10–15 years ago, many companies, people, etc. would sue over every fender-bender, and the defendant would just file an insurance claim, and let the insurance company pay the plaintiff a token settlement for a minor-to-moderate “wrong” - just so the plaintiff would go away and the defendant wouldn’t have to take the time and trouble to deal with the trouble of the judicial system. THEN at some point, the camel’s back broke, people “scamming the system” skyrocketed, jury verdicts skyrocketed, so insurance rates skyrocketed, and companies/people could no longer afford to just “roll over and pay” (Wal Mart was a major factor here . . . they have a formidable legal team and a notoriously strict policy of taking EVERY claim - from the smallest “slip and fall” to the largest environmental lawsuit - ALL the way). In other words, don’t sue Wal Mart - or most other large American companies - unless you’re in it for the long haul. And trust me, you’ll be broke from legal fees LONG before they will.So now, the money is not quite as “easy,” but as Bill Null says below, the U.S. does not have a “loser pays court costs/legal fees” system like England (one element of their legal system we did NOT adopt), so there is still a lot of questionable litigation, because there is relatively little disincentive - short of cost - in the U.S. for someone to bring a lawsuit (a lawsuit has to be pretty bad for a court to decide that it is a “nuisance” lawsuit and actually sanction someone for that).

What good came from Clinton's NAFTA? Before everything was made in USA, now everything is made in China?

I am not making this just about politics, both side both left and right sold out America for NAFTA. When I was a teen and young person, I rarely even saw a Hispanic. Now in my later 30's, and Hispanics are 45 million strong in America.

Jobs made in the USA are gone for ever. Now we have to pay tariffs (taxes) just to import goods from China. It is asinine!

Why do Filipinos take so much pride in copying other?

bingo! - They have little originality and seem to embrace anything push on them.

to be fair, you are right in most of your claims. no doubt koreanovela is or was a big hit on tv some time ago and korean dance songs were making my ears bleed. there are still good filipino pop songs or singers but most of which are being replaced by a newer generation who have a whole new set of personality and choice

japanese comic is a popular one, defying american comic style, but with regards to the filipino artist, there's little to choose from, so far there's only japanese or american style of drawing toons. btw, manga (involuntary art) and mangga (the fruit) are different.

as for the tv shows, yes most of which are from US - survivor phil, phil's top model, who wants to be a millionaire, talentadong pinoy

Charice - she's entitled to her choice of songs and she does have to sing in English for international tv show (she did sing national anthem for pacquiao in Filipino), well yeah, who doesn't want to be an American citizen anyway?

When will Filipinos have anything that's distantly Filipino? - when manny pacquiao is president, he will be the first boxing president in the world, now THAT is or will be soon, original and distantly Filipino

@dunno - we are not the only ones "tanned" in color, Hawaii is closer to US than Philippines perhaps, and mind you if you watch tv, commercials, read papers, magazines, all of the "gluthathiones" and skin peel whitening are all over it (apparently we are not proud of being "tanned" too). Koreans don't want to live here, they just want our cheaper education. Japanese invaded us for our land. im just saying...

Why is everything in Canada so expensive compared to America?

Dude I know!

We get ripped off hardcore. I hate it when people even try to defend the fact we get ripped off... this is such an enabling factor! The only reason we get ripped off so much is because we allow it.

It's like when customs makes you pay duty at the border when you buys stuff in America.... becuase they feel it's unfair to Canadian merchants. Well perhaps if we didn't get ripped off at home, we wouldn't feel the need to travel to another country to go shopping!
