Why Is Geometry So Hard For Me

Why is Geometry so hard for me ?

Don't worry too much on the proofs. I had troubles with the proofs too. I'm just like you. I love everything except Geometry. I love to deal with numbers, not words. But I still got A in my Geometry class. Geometry isn't everything about proofs so just master what you're good at. Unless you want to major in Pure Mathematics, you don't need to be good at proofs. Personally, I find Pure Math to be very useless because Applied Math is the most important subject since you can apply the formulas for sciences in real life. Pure Math is all about proofs, very useless.

WHY IS GEOMETRY SO HARD FOR ME?

I pay attention in class and take notes etc but i cant understand how to do geometry especially the proofs!!! Everyone thinks its easy but i cant even figure out the simplest proof in the book. What do i need to do in order to get better at proofs and understanding the concept of geometry????? Its really frustrating when i try so hard but i cant do it

Why is geometry so hard?

Geometry is about thinking logically, as scientists do, or lawyers, or auto mechanics. There are facts you have to know: the definitions, postulates, theorems. And there are procedures you have to know: how to assemble the facts in a sequence that proves something.

In truth, not everyone is up to it. Lots of people prefer to run their lives on a combination of emotion and simple beliefs and let other people do the thinking. Maybe they're even happy. But understanding the world well enough to make changes takes the kind of education that's based on hard mental work.

Why is geometry so hard?

That is an opinion. I found geometry very easy. To me it all seamed like common sence. It made sense to me, stuff like 2 intersecting lines have the same angle on opposite ends. Then how a triangle's angles always add up to 180. Makes this stiff easy to figure out. It takes a mathematical mind to grasp and visualize things differently. Everybody has their niches. On the other hand I can't spell to save my life, I also can't memorize facts. Both seam to be related but were handicaps to me in other classes. Like in English clase, or in Chemistry where I had to memorize a formula. Which seamed useless to me as you can just look it up.

Why is geometry so hard for me?

i took algebra 1 last year. got an A+- easy
this semester, geometry honors- B-
its so hard for me. i feel like i understand, i study and try hard and at the time of the test, here's another 70.

i'm taking algebra 2 trig next semester so i can take chemistry honors which i was reccommended for. will it have alot of geometry in it or jsut a litte- alg 2 trig i mean.

how much geometry is in pre cal and cal?

is geometry used alot in other math classes?

Why is Honors Geometry so hard?

Don't take it personally, geometry hates everybody, but not as much as everybody hates IT :)

You seem to be on the right track getting yourself a tutor! But it's only September, so there's plenty of time left in the semester to help yourself understand it, try not to stress too much about it just yet. And as much as I hated geometry too, I'll admit there were plenty of easier sections to learn, it won't be all hard forever! I think the concepts of geometry are more difficult to grasp, but the actual measurements that you learn hands-on may be easier to understand. Just keep working with your tutor, ask questions, and maybe look online for some geometry tutor sites; or, if you have a geometry textbook from school, check the front and back cover for a possible tutor site that goes along with the textbook itself (or the site may be printed on the first or last few inner pages of the text).

Many textbooks these days set up helpful sites that go along with the chapters and sections to aid struggling students. If your text doesn't offer a site, you can probably go to your local library and borrow a geometry study book that may explain concepts better than your teacher or tutor; I remember when I started Algebra III in my senior year, I started off struggling, but I found a nifty Algebra study book from the library that elaborated on the formulas and equations that once had made no sense to me. It really helped!

Good luck<3

Why is geometry so hard for me?

Geometry is like morse code too me. What should i do to get better at geometry? In Algebra 1 i had an A the whole school year. All i do in this class is piece bit by bit together to get some of thing in this course. (Geometry Honor)

I would be thankful for hints and tips!

Why is geometry so hard for me guys?

in algebra 1, i used to sit in the back of the room quietly and barely pay attention.
i only did it for class participitation. i got an A+ without trying, with my lowest grade being a 90ish.

now i'm in geometry and its so ahrd. i understand one or 2 sections from a chapter and thats it. everythign else is in a different language.

i don't even think geometry is math. i beleive its just a whole different subject on its own.

i'm used to being intelligent but this isn't how my mind works. i have a C in the class and progress reports go out next week.

when my parents see it, i'll be dead.

they jsut don't understand that my mind doesn't work like that.
the guy i used to tutor in geometry gets 100s while i get 70s

nothing works. i go for extra help but it phases right through me. i understand certain things but for the test, i don't see it.

its not even fair i need to do this.

does algebra 2 trigonometry and pre calculus and calculus have geometry in it? is it alot?

i'm good with memorizing mathematical formulas.

i really hope so orelse my love of math is dead.

why does everyone agree geometry isn't for everyone cuz they're minds jsut don't work in that special way but its still a mandatory part in the school curriculum?

Why is it so hard to get an A in math class? I’m in geometry.

I think the most difficult part with math, as compared to all the other subjects, is it is an exact set of rules, or forumlas that you constantly have to memorize. This is especially true for geometry, as each 2d shape has their own specific rules, and the rules become more complex for 3d shapes. On top of that you have many, so to say, vocab words, each with their own set of rules. Add that with the algebra equations (find What “x” side of the triangle measures), the proofs (prove the shape is a square), and eventually it just seems overwhelmingNow comparing that to the other classes that are commonly taken. For English class, it seems many things are based on theories. Yes, you may have to answer questions based on the story (where was the girl at 6pm in the story?), but those questions don't change. You do not have to plug anything in. For the theory side of it, you may get questions like “Why Do you think that happened” ‘what do you think is the moral of the story”, etc, in which multiple questions could be right, and even if they aren't right, you could argue your answer for why it's possible and still get the credit. With science and history classes, the answers are unchanging. You may have to remember the year world war II happened, or the parts of a cell, but those aren't going to change on a test (simple example, you may learn 5 x 5 + 2 in a math class, then on the tests or homework you may be given 80 + 10 x 7 — 21)I agree with the other person who posted on how to understand the class better. Do all the homework, attend all the classes, join study groups, draw diagrams, etc. I know in my geometry class, we were allowed to bring a small notecard with formulas on it. If you are given any type of aid like that, definitely take advantage of it, and it's always better to ask questions if you aren't sure.

Why is high school geometry so hard?

There are basically 2 kinds of people who like math. They can be easily described by using a jig-saw puzzle as an example.Sequential learners are those who like to see everything in a proper order. A follows B which follows C. These persons look at the shape of the jig saw puzzle pieces and try really hard to find the appropriately shaped piece to be inserted next. Taken to the extreme, these sequential thinkers would almost as soon do the entire puzzle upside down. These are the persons who love Algebra the most, because it is all very logical and sequential. You build things up from little pieces.Holistic learners like to pick up a piece from the pile, and try to figure out exactly where it goes based upon the picture on the puzzle piece. After they can see the whole picture in their heads, then they can break it down enough to find the pieces. Persons who like geometry are generally persons who solve problems in this manner.Algebra people like the end result, whatever it is, and enjoy the surprise they get upon following the steps correctly.Geometry people like to figure out how to make the picture they desire, and want no inessential pieces to confuse them.Sequential persons make great accountants.Holistic persons make great artists. Most people who major in math or science can think both holistically and sequentially, and enjoy both. One way of thinking is not superior to another, but if you are mostly a sequential thinker, geometry seems much harder to you than persons who are holistic thinkers. God made us all how we are because society needs people of many skill sets. If we were all sequential thinkers, there would be no architects. If we were all holistic thinkers, accounting would never have been invented. If we think both ways, a job which requires only one way of thinking soon becomes very boring.
