Is it OK to sleep with electronics next to your head?(phone, ipod, clock)?

i've been sleeping with my alarm clock next to my pillow when i sleep, about 5 inches away from my pillow, for almost about a year. i also sleep with my ipod & phone next to my clock.
now i just changed my alarm clock. now it has a radio.

is it ok to sleep with them next to my head?
will if cause any problems in the future?

help? pls

Why is it bad to sleep with electronics in your room, especially tablets, cell phones, and devices that emit radiation (I notice a difference)?

There are 2 reasons why EMF radiation from domestic devices impact our sleep patterns. But before that - please be mindful of the fact that this is not just a case with cellphones, tablets and other telecommunication terminals. EMF is also a by product of electrical systems - such as stabilizers, invertors, UPSs etc - and these also impact the quality of sleep. All sources of radiation external to the body oscillate at a higher frequency. An idle brain in sleep has a frequency of 2Hz. However, electrical systems in home work at 60Hz, cell phone radiation is at 900-2400Hz and WiFi radiation at 2400Hz. These frequencies disrupt the idle frequency (sleep frequency) making it difficult to get to sleep. This in turn impedes the production of melatonin hormone (sleep hormone). Melatonin is produced by the human body for self reparatory functions. It is secreted by the Pineal gland that is located in the middle of the human brain. The Pineal gland activates the process of Melatonin production in the dark – and the process of release of melatonin in the blood stream induces sleep. That is why Melatonin is known as the sleep hormone. Melatonin production therefore follows the circadian rhythym (the body clock), and is in process between 9 in the evening and 6 in the morning. EMF Radiation disrupts the pineal gland working, upsetting the Melatonin production rhythym – thereby reducing the sporific effect (sleep inducing effect).Source: http://brightsandz.com/emf-radia...

What actually happens when you sleep next to or near electronic devices?

In the US, about 10 years ago, Southern California Edison issued a notice to customers about the chance that EMF - electric and magnetic fields could have a negative impact on people’s health. They said at that time that there was no proof of such but they did advise not to sleep with electronic devices near the head of the bed - and that distance decreased the potential impact.I believed them. I never keep anything electronic near my head when I’m sleeping, and cover the tv and dvr lights with electrical tape to keep the lights out.It is best to sleep in as total darkness as you can, so any devices you have in your bedroom, you should cover up at night so the light that is emitted is blocked. Now, some people will say I’m crazy. I’m not. If Edison thought enough to send notices to all their customers, it seems viable that there was something to it. Now, I have a chronic illness and became extremely sensitive to a whole lot of things - in particular, light, and the lights emitted from electronics, they will wake me from a sound sleep. My health issue is related to chemical exposure from the industry I worked in, and it’s not going away but has gotten worse over the years. I have to be very particular about my living situation. But the first symptoms I started getting were the ones related to emf emissions, so whatever rumours you hear, I can validate some of them. In my book, it is better to be safe than sorry. There are a great many things we’ve done in the past that we thought was safe at the time and now know they are not. I’d err on the side of caution. Put all your electronics past the end of your bed.

Should teens use electronics while sick?

My teen daughter wants to use her iPad while she has a mild fever/cold. I tell her she needs to stay in bed and sleep, but she wants to use her iPad because it "helps her relax". I still think that she shouldn't use the iPad because it makes things worse, but she says that it doesn't cause any harm to her, and she says it doesn't affects her at all. I'm not sure whether to let her use it or not. Someone respond quickly!

Is it safe to take electronics into a tanning bed?

probably not very safe...you should ask the people at the tanning salon.

Is sleeping next to a device with WiFi bad for you?

Since radio waves follow the inverse square law – like light, sound and gravity – then each time you double the distance, you get only a quarter of the energy. In other words, the signal strength falls off very rapidly. At normal operating distances, Wi-Fi's intensity is generally so low that it's not worth worrying about: it's just part of the "smog" that is generated by radio and TV signals, AC mains wiring, the motors in home appliances, and the universe in general. The intensity of a Wi-Fi signal is around 100,000 times less than a microwave oven. The oven is a targeted device that operates at very high voltages and short distances, and Wi-Fi routers operate at very low voltages, broadcast in all directions, and are used at relatively long distances. (The wavelength of Wi-Fi signals is the same as the cosmic background radiation: 12cm. If you're worried, don't go outside.)Chances are, the heat generated from electronic equipment would have more effect on someone than the small amounts of electromagnetic radiation it emits, such as a laptop reducing the sperm count in a male, for example. It would probably be best to keep your distance from any transmitter -- especially for extended lengths of time -- so it may even be advisable to not sleep with a cell phone or connected WiFi-enabled device under your pillow or in your front pocket. If you're worried, arrange your bedroom so the access point and where you sleep are at opposite ends of the room, or better yet turn off your wireless when you go to bed if it's going to be unused. (The reduced light emitted from the WiFi device's blinking lights might even help you to sleep better.)

Do your parents let you have "electronics" in your room overnight?

My parents do not allow me to have my phone, ipod touch, or laptop in my room with me overnight. I used to be able to have my phone, but then my Dad saw me texting late one night, and I guess they didn't realize I was texting before or something, so now I am not allowed to have that either. I was just wondering if this is sort of a normal thing to do or not. I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone who has these same rules.

Also it's a bigger deal because I am prone to waves of severe depression and sometimes I need to talk to someone late, or someone else needs to talk to me. Talking to my close friends is a very important coping mechanism to me, and my therapist has agreed that it is unreasonable for my parents to do this, especially because of my depression.

I fell asleep on top of my phone?

I am a 14 year old female and I have an iPhone 5c and last night I was really tired and I was in bed with my phone just looking at Social media and such, and I woke up this morning, on top of my phone. I know that you are not supposed to have your electronics next to you in your sleep. But it was an accident. And it was plugged in charging. I was also next to my iPad that was also plugged in. So I was on top of a charging phone and next to a charging iPad ALL NIGHT. I am so terrified. Can this cause cancer? I know making that mistake for the first time may not cause anything, but I have done this before. Not waking up on top of them but waking up beside them. It hasn't happened a lot though. Please help. I am really scared. (Ps. I woke up on my back and I don't move a lot in my sleep so I was probably laying on my back on the phone all night)

Is there anything wrong with sleeping right next to the radiator?

In order for bedroom material to reach combustion, it would require more heat than a radiator is capable of putting out. It doesn't means other material won't melt, accidental burns and I wouldn't be concerned about dry skin.

We all know heat rises, and radiator heat does the same thing. Do you have a ceiling fan or portable fan to move the warm air around in the room?

I am going to send you to a website that actually shows images of temperature, energy losses in the winter, etc. The info may help you keep the place warmer without spending much money. http://www.thermoguy.com/globalwarming-heatloss.html
