Why did the Native Americans do seemingly nothing throughout history in comparison to the rest of the world?
First, ask yourself… who wrote all that history? All history is written by conquerors and ascendant cultures. In every single case, they diminish or completely fail to mention the previous cultures or any achievements of the predecessor of that time. Now in the case of American Indians, not all has been hidden. There is monumental architecture all over North America including such places as Snake Mound, Ohio or Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, etc. Then there are the agricultural achievements such as developing corn as a viable dry-farmed crop, or all the strains of squash and beans. Then there are the cultural achievements. The Iroquois Confederation was studied for many years by Benjamin Franklin who adapted their consensus form of government to create the framework for American Democracy. Then, there are the arts, such as carving, woodcraft, pottery and jewelry, which are prized worldwide among devoted collectors. Then there are the many unique languages, including Navajo (Dineh), which was used by the US Army Intelligence as an unbreakable code (The Navajo Code Talkers) against the Japanese in the Pacific Theater and led directly to the defeat of the Rising Sun in 1945. Then there are the many healing pharmaceuticals, not the least of which is Aspirin, which comes from Red Willow Bark and was used for a thousand years before Bayer marketed it…I think you get my point, right? Just because a culture isn’t self-aggrandizing, in print doesn’t mean it hasn’t achieved anything.
How important is it to study U.S. history?
I am not american ,I am Egyptian.Yet,It’s super important to read history because :1-Reading history makes you powerful.you know what was in the past,how leaders was great and brave to take such important decision, like what “Lincoln” did ..this is the turning point of the american history2-reading history makes you older than what you thinkIt’s necessary to be older to behave like a boss, and to add more bricks to your super important building ,that building people call it experience.so you now see the whole seen clearly.3-reading history makes you anticipate what is going to be and what is going to happen.we all know that there is nothing new in this world .what had been is what is going to be …there is nothing new under the sun.So you are setting on your seat and kinda predicting the future like a God.
