Why Is It So Hard To Fall Asleep When You Decide To But Easy When You Don

Why do i fall asleep when i read the bible?

Why when i try to read the bible or a spiritual book i get sleepy and cant finish reading? Thats why i dont read the bible too much because it makes me sleepy, does this happens to anybody else? Why?

Why is it that you wake up more tired when you fall asleep again after waking up for the first time?

Yes it's quite true. When you wake up refreshed; you finished a sleep cycle. Going back to sleep to wake up in less time than it takes to complete another sleep cycle means you interrupted a sleep cycle. You could feel headaches, severe drowsiness, and weakness in your muscles. When your brain puts you to sleep, it releases a chemical into the body to cause a kind of "mild paralysis" it's this paralysis that prevents you from acting out your most vigorous dreams. A natural safetey system for your protection and those around you at night. (also explains "night terrors" in some people)You thus feel weak, groggy and unrested when your body hasn't had time to exhaust and eliminate the paralysis chemical that was produced by the brain.

Having a hard time with putting my dog to sleep..please help?

I am so torn up about this. I have a Labrador who is 11 years old. We rescued her from the pound literally hours before she would be put to sleep when she was 10 months old. She was always a pretty healthy dog until two summers ago when she was 9..she lost her sight almost overnight from SARDS. Originally her vet told us that she might go on for a few more months; usually SARDS dogs died within a few months from various complications. Well she surpassed our fearful expectations. She seemed to adjust as best she could without her sight and has always maintained a hearty appetite even until now. Over the last few months, she has started this destructive chewing on herself so we have had to have her wearing a cone 24-7. She still wanted to play a bit but then started to slow down gradually. We are in a hotel right now due to some stupid termite tenting and since we are here, she has reached a new low..she has barely moved the few days we have been here and this morning, she did not move even an inch from where she fell asleep last night. I know in my heart that it is time to let her go. I always said that if her quality of life were drastically reduced, I would not let her suffer. Now that it is time, it is the hardest thing ever. I have an appt. to have her put to sleep this evening but I don't know how I can bring myself to do it..I feel so guilty and worried "What if..??" I tried to give her a nice evening with all her treats last night and make it special but I just can't get all the things done that I wanted to do with her one more time.
Has anyone been through this? Am I doing the right thing? Should I wait? This is just so painful, I feel like I am losing my mind..

Why is it so much easier to fall asleep on the couch unintentionally than to fall asleep in bed intentionally?

You are trying to force yourself to sleep in one situation and the other is a common thing. People usually fall asleep on the couch because it’s usually the first spot you go to when you get home from a long day. You are still dirty and you are just needing to lay down for a second. While on the other hand, you usually go to bed after a nice warm shower. That’s how my routine works. Simply you can’t force yourself to sleep. All you have to do is close your eyes and wait. You have to ease your way into things like how a relationship works. If you rush a relationship it mostly doesn’t turn out well. That’s why sleep is a bit hard for people since some people close their eyes and boom it’s the next day while others have trouble easing their way into sleep. You don’t try to force yourself to sleep on the couch it usually just happens. It’s as simple as that.

If my boyfriend falls asleep first, I feel so lonely and nervous that I cannot fall asleep. What can I do about this?

owner of The Meaning of My DreamsI like to sleep before my husband does, because I feel a bit lonely if he falls asleep before I do, which means I sort of understand you. If we go to bed at the same time, he always sleep before I do, but luckily for me, he likes to stay in the computer or smartphone in bed before truly sleeping, so I get to sleep before he does often. However, I do wake up several times during the night and I may feel a little lonely, especially if he rolled away from me to the other side of the bed. It helps me to hold his hand when I decide to sleep, or touch his arm, so I know he is there, and close. Also, it is nice to talk a little bit to each other before closing your eyes to get to sleep, it may calm you. As far as I can understand, what is keeping you from sleeping with him is that you're getting anxious (and not the fact that he snores or something like that), so you need some trick to relax. The problem is not him, it is you. You should not feel guilty if you cannot sleep as quickly as he does! Stop being concern if you can or cannot sleep, if it takes you a little longer to sleep when someone else is in your bed, what is the problem? I doubt any couples in the planet always fall asleep exactly at the same time every day. Very unlikely. I also read somewhere (sorry I don't remember where!) that men sleep better with company and women sleep worse (and by worse I mean lighter, more likely to wake up, et al.). So, it may be perfectly normal that you behave differently when sleeping alone and with your boyfriend. You should not be concerned about that. If you don't get to sleep, instead of crying, get out of bed, have some water, listen some relaxing music, watch your pretty boyfriend and how he looks cute sleeping and come back to bed once you feel tired and relaxed. ;)

How can I fall asleep with anorexia?

Glass of skim / 2% milk before bed, warm or cold depending on your preference. Less than 100 calories, I'm sure even an anorexic can fit that into their diet.

Cant sleep cause I am scared......please help? (long)?

So this is just a warning: this may sound totally pathetic and stupid but please remember I am only 13 and I have a big imagination. SO! When Summer started I realized that criminals and robbers are probably more active in the Summer due to numerous reasons like:
A) They don't have to go to school or work.
AND
B) Cause my brain tells me that it makes sense. :P
So ever since the beginning of Summer, I have been staying up till 2-4am having panic attacks because I am terrified I am going to get murdered in the night. When I do end up sleeping I have to sleep with the lights on so I can see every corner of my room and make sure no one is in there. I have never been robbed, nor has anyone in my family ever been murdered, but when you watch the news, all you hear is talk about people getting shot, and knifed, and killed for no reason and it TERRIFIES me! I just get siked out and my mind starts wondering and my brain starts making assumptions that someone is in my house whenever I hear a noise. I am fine till about 1am cause I distract myself with facebook, and youtube and such, but when I decide that it is late and I need to sleep, my brain starts freaking out. Its driving me insane! I cant sleep anymore! I know it is unlikely that someone will break into my cottage, which is in a friendly little neighbourhood, and come up stairs and murder me but the scary thing is that it is happening in the world somewhere at this moment it just freaks me out!!!! I just lie in my bed with the lights on for like an hour just watching the door. My dad once told me that when you think about how something is going to happen, it normally happens. WHICH TOTALLY FREAKS ME OUT! So then I freak out cause I am freaking out!! It is just a disaster!!! I have to be COMPLETELY under the covers except for my face cause I feel like if my leg or arm is about the sheet someone will come and chop it of and it up. I haven't slept for more than 6 hours in like 2 months!!!!!! If you guys have any ideas on how to calm myself down when I have these panic attacks or any facts that will help me realize how unlikely it is that i will be murdered or something then please let me know. :/ Do I have like OCD or anxiety or something? Or is it normal to be this freaked out by robbers and murderers?

Thanks, Shannon.
