Why Is It So Hard To Find Something To Believe In

Why is it so hard to believe in myself?

Because there's so much work involved.Believing in yourself isn't an overnight thing. You've got to put in the time, put in the effort, and put in the initiative to actually follow through with your new beliefs.Having gone through years and years of crawling, stumbling, and the entire process repeated has taught me that a lot of times the only thing that's holding us back is ourselves (yes), but more accurately, our reluctance to put in the work to actually get there. It's so much easier to let other people believe in us; let them determine the trajectory of our lives; let them tell us right from wrong. It's much more difficult to look into the mirror and tell ourselves: “Hey, you did this wrongly/you spent too much time playing video games today, set a limit/you are enough.” But it is what's necessary.Picture your life as a journey: you have a starting point (where you are now) and a destination (when you start believing in yourself). Along the way, there's going to be setbacks, challenges, and potholes that you're either going to have to navigate through, or avoid. Yes, the journey will be difficult, but how'd you forget about the gorgeous scenery?Believing in yourself is only difficult because you think that it might not be worth it; that your current life triumphs it hands down. And it will, for awhile. But once you get the momentum going, and your vehicle’s cruising down that highway, you'll have the time to sit back a little more and enjoy the scenery a lil.Like all other things in life, the starting will always be the most difficult. However, that shouldn't detain you from actually doing so. And as long as you can keep that in mind, believing in yourself, it gets much easier.Good luck rider. I hope to see you on the road.

Why do people find it hard to change beliefs?

Beliefs are harder to change because they become a pervasive part of your everyday life. A belief is something that attaches itself to every other thought, in fact, a belief is actually a perceptual filter. A way of seeing the world. A way of existing, of being.
The reason it is hard to change a belief is because in order to build a belief you have to validate it, give it a sense of truth, and acknowledge it as basically written in stone, an unchanging fact of life. The very process of validating the belief is enough to convince the unconscious of the importance of the belief, so instead of having to constantly prove why your belief is correct....it simply falls out of consciousness and you do it AUTOMATICALLY....you don't have to keep telling yourself you believe in something, you just do it. You just believe it. It becomes more and more unconscious, and the more unconscious a behavior is, the more difficult it is to change it.

I want to believe in God but i find it so hard. Help!?

I am a very intelligent individual. At least literally scoring off scale on several IQ tests would seem to indicate that, so in order for me to accept any religion, it had/has to make sense, it had to be rational. I was raised in a Southern Baptist home/church but around age 8 started to question some of what I was being taught because it did not make a lot of sense. I went on to study all the major (or so I then thought) religions and a lot of divisions and denominations. I found something in each that I could accept, but too many contradictions, etc. Although skirting on the edge of atheism, I long ago realized there are very serious flaws in that school of thought. I heard about the Baha'i Faith and set out to prove it was a bunch of blarney. I was eminently unable to do so, though I spent well over a decade trying. I am now a Baha'i, but although I can say with certainty it is true, I will also assert if you can find a flaw in it, show me and I will withdraw from the Faith. I have given that challenge to thousands of people over the years. Some of them became Baha'is themselves. Never heard from the others. The Baha'i Faith is not just rational, however. It is also by far the most satisfying on a social, an emotional and on a spiritual level than anything else I have ever ran into. It is at the same time very simple, yet very profound. Simple? There is one God. All major (revealed) religions came from that one God. We are all one race, Human. It is finally the time for us to realize it and to start building world peace, and Baha'u'llah is the Messenger promised in the scripture of ALL those religions, the Bible included. Profound and esoteric? Email me and I will give you more, but how about in what is now obvious terms telling us that we would soon be discovering atomic energy, writing about the "Big Bang" of creation and us sending a space probe to the sun, and all this in the mid to late 1800's? The first airplane flight was not until 1903! How about in what is now Iraq and Iran proclaiming the equality of men and women?

Are you a Baha'i already but just have not discovered you are? Does the Baha'i Faith have something to offer you? That is for you and you only to decide, but if you decide to make the journey, I stand ready to help in any way I can. To borrow a phrase from a Baha'i brochure, becoming a Baha'i does not mean arriving, it means agreeing to make the journey.

May God bless!

Why is it hard to believe religion?

It is hard to believe in religion because there isn't any substantial proof that it is true. Religion and the idea of "God" were created by man I believe approximately over 10,000 years ago in Egypt, Asia and all around the world. We all know that the Red Sea can't be parted; people cannot resurrect from the dead; no one can possibly walk on water unless hanging onto a helicopter ladder or something of the sort.
I think that if you find it hard to "believe" in your religion, then you're not really a part of it, but you're saying you are. It is pretty hard to apply a religion that was created centuries ago, I agree; however, what troubles me is that the Bible is constantly being re-modified and it was translated a few times, going from Hebrew to English or to whatever other language it is printed. There is no possible way to say which version of the Bible is re-created.
I also believe that religion was created, partially for control of people. If you go look on my profile, I asked a question pertaining to whether it is possible if the government created religion for the sakes of control. I got some information out of some answers that I believe would very much interest you.
