Why Is It That The Local Police Always Illegally Park And Block Access For People .

Legally, if someone parks in front of my driveway, blocking me in, do I have to give them notice before I have the vehicle towed? What if I don't know who or where the owner is?

Where I live, you just call parking enforcement (police department) and report a vehicle that is blocking your driveway. They are usually pretty quick at slapping a ticket on an offending vehicle, but it may take a half an hour or so on a busy day. If the vehicle is blocking my driveway completely I would ask the officer to have it towed, but I can’t do that before the officer arrives. It all takes more time and energy than some passive protection methods I use. First, the pavement in front of my driveway is clearly marked, so those that park can see exactly where their legal parking ends. One of my neighbors had the entire length of the curb in front of his driveway painted yellow. They never block him and they rarely block me. Depending on the jurisdiction, painting public roads and city curbs like that may be illegal.I collect discarded/lost parking tickets I find often on the streets (amazing how many people think they won’t have to pay it if they toss it :) ) and then use those to “warn” drivers that step over the line but not block me too much. By the time they realize the ticket is not theirs the desired effect is already achieved :). Sometimes they are kind enough to leave them so I can use them for the next violator :).Those non-aggressive methods, especially the pavement marking, dramatically reduced driveway blocking incidents. I think it’s safe to say that most people won’t do it if they are made aware when they are doing it. I am also much more confident that those that still block my driveway are doing that on purpose and with full awareness of the consequences. Therefore, I call parking enforcement whenever I see one parked like that and as soon as they get out of the vehicle. I call to cancel the ticket if they leave before the officer arrives, as a courtesy to officers and other people that may need their service more urgently. Also, parking enforcement won’t tag/tow cars parked in front of my driveway unless I call them. That allows me to let my friends and family take that spot if necessary. I avoid that though, lest it gives other people the idea that they can do the same with impunity.Just for context, I live in an area that is visited 24/7 by a large number of people that don’t live in the neighborhood. Most are from the suburbs where street parking rules are much more lax.

What do emergency vehicles do if their access is blocked by an illegally parked vehicle?

We rent a 3-bay garage in an industrial complex. There was a shop fire in the same complex but across the double wide drive. We stood and watched our neighbour's shop go up in flames while waiting for the fire department. When the fire department showed up, they needed access to the gas room which was blocked by a Maserati. The sign on the gas room door very clearly stated “No Parking Within 20 Feet”. The Maserati was directly in front of the door. The fire department already had their water lines out and dousing flames, their trucks weren't going anywhere and this car needed to move. NOW.The fire captain saw us across the way and asked if our Jeeps had winches. “Of course!” we replied.“Get rid of this piece of shit right now and I don't care how!”. A police officer standing near us said something like, “You heard the man. He doesn't care how”.We started the Jeeps, reversed out of our bays and turned around to pull line. But to where? The only direction that Maserati was going was sideways without running over fire lines. We told this to the police officer and explained that there was a high potential of damage to the wheels, suspension, driveline, etc. if we did a side pull. He reminded us of what the fire captain said. He “didn't care how”.We each hooked up a line to each passenger side wheel, thru the wheels to the opposite side for a safe pull (and hopefully the tires end up sliding on top of the winch cable) trying to be careful and weave it thru the spokes and back to the winch line. When we slowly started to pull, the car barely moved. We pulled a bit more and same thing. The extra wide tires of the glorified supercar were so wide that they provided too much traction for a gentle tug.We heard the fire captain tell at us, “Move it now! Flip the f-in thing for all I care”.The cop beside us gave an evil grin. So we yanked hard. The car rolled onto its side and quickly came to rest on its roof lying over our winch cables. After that, the car slid towards us and out of the fire department's way easily.Maserati roofs are excellent skid plates.

In India, is it illegal to park a vehicle in front of a gate which has a message board that reads 'Do not park in front of the gate'?

Yes. It is illegal. If a person has put a board stating ‘Do not park in front of the gate’, then there must be some reason for that. Basically every individual has a right to enjoy his life in a hassle-free manner. If someone parks a vehicle in front of his gate, his path is obstructed which would eventually cause him inconvenience. Even after putting up a board as a caveat, still someone disobeys, then that individual has following legal remedies. He can file a police complaint of Wrongful restraint under Section 339 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the person who owns the vehicle or who parked the vehicle in front of his gate.Under Section 13 of the Indian Easements Act, 1882 the person who has put-up that board has a right of easement of necessity. An easement of necessity means an easement without which the property cannot be used at all. Mere convenience is not the test of an easement of necessity. It can be claimed only when there is absolute necessity for it, i.e. when the property cannot be used at all without the easement and not merely where it is necessary for its reasonable, or more convenient enjoyment. A person cannot acquire a right of way as an easement of necessity, if he has any other means of access to his land however more inconvenient it may be than be passing over his neighbours. Furthermore, under Section 35 of the Indian Easements Act, 1882 the person can obtain permanent injunction restraining anyone from obstructing his right of passage.Simultaneously that person can file a petition under Order 39 Rule 1 & 2 of the Code of Civil Procedure (CPC) praying for a stay order restraining his neighbour blocking the said path.As it is evident, from the above three options that the person whose path is being obstructed or may be obstructed in future, he/she can exercise any or all of the 3 options mentioned above for the sake of his/her convenience.

Next door neighbor possibly running an illegal day care center?

I've asked this question before, but I was called "mean" for asking it because apparently I'm trying to take away this woman's income just because I'm an evil person, so I'll rephrase it and hope I get a real answer to it.

My next door neighbor has had parents dropping off their kids around the time I leave for work and the parents will pick them back up when I'm getting home. Every morning and every night, I have cars blocking my driveway, which is irritating. My grandfather called the police a couple months ago about that part of it, and unfortunately they couldn't do anything because by the time they got there, all the cars were gone.

There are at least six or seven, maybe more, kids that this woman is watching during the day. She also owns a very small house, as do the other people in my neighborhood, so I think that many kids for one woman in a tiny house is a bit excessive. Over the past few weeks, I've noticed even more cars coming and going with kids.

I have gone over there with my grandfather to see if she could ask the parents to not park their cars in front of our driveway. She said very rudely "There's nothing I can do about it" and slammed the door in our faces. Hence the reason the police got called to try and resolve it.

Yes, the cars are a problem. But I also do not agree with a woman who may not even be licensed to watch these children running her own little daycare center. No, I'm not trying to be mean and take away this woman's income, and I'm not trying to get back at her for the cars, but I don't think it's right if she's doing something illegal right next door, especially when it involves children.

I know for a fact that you need to be certified or licensed to have that many kids in her house in my state of VA. So what I'm asking since the possibility that this could easily be illegal is what steps should I take to ensure that these kids are being taken care of by someone who is actually licensed to do so? Since she was so incredibly pleasant when I asked if she could get the parents to stop blocking my driveway, I really don't want to have to speak to her again.

Is toilet papering houses illegal?

It is 100% illegal. It's not worth getting caught, and if you're 18, it'll go down on your record and will remain there until the day you die. And at 17 or younger, having your parents called in the middle of the night to come pick up your sorry a$$ at the police station, is probably even worse. That said, the following is for entertainment purposes only...not a suggestion to commit crime.

Know your escape routes before you begin, and know that neighborhoods with fences around the backyards make you a sitting duck, while access through the backyards make for the best escapes. If the police arrive, drop EVERYTHING and run like hell. (Leaving behind $10 worth of toilet paper pales in comparison to the big fine you'll receive.) Wear dark clothing. Always park several blocks away, and leave no rolls of toilet paper behind in your car (very important in case you are later pulled over and searched).

And remember, buying in bulk during daytime hours is cheaper, less suspicious, and provides the material for you to create a picturesque winter wonderland in the middle of July.

Of course, if you live in the desert, forget the TP. Just go marshmallow a cactus or something!

How can I stop people from parking in front of my garage?

If it’s a public parking situation, you really can’t stop it. You can post signs, but you’d have to follow up with code enforcement or the police to determine if the signs are appropriate and/or legal. If the signs are ok, and someone parks there, you can call a tow company to remove the car, and the people will have to pay the tow company to retrieve their vehicles. You should probably post “retrieval” information, as well.At least in the United States, I think this is a tresspassing issue, but if you are just “insisting,” with no grounds for complaint, it’s often better just to get over it.If someone is impeding your ability to access your garage, I would leave a notice on the car and if it’s still there in an hour or two (unless you need immediate access), call a tow company.

Police car parked in a fire lane?

@duke casey

the officer lastnight around 11:30pm was behind me when i was pulling off the highway, and went around me, and turned right at the stop sign but didnt stop or use his blinker. i watched him as he drove behind walmart, i went back behing there to tell him that he did not stop at the light and as i pull behind the building i see him behind his car, so i roll down my window and proced to say, "officer" hurgently zipped up his pants and turned and said can i help you.

i just see a bunch of hypocrisies in the municipal force. if i were to do that and get cought i would be ticketed and be a registered sex offender

Can a police officer give you a ticket for parking "crooked"?

So there is this one police officer that, i feel, is anxious to give me a ticket for anything. Every morning I go to a cafe that's on my way to work, this is the ONLY place is the that is convenient and is on the way. So one time I messed up, there was no parking in front and I parked on the red zone. I get inside and there are 4 police officers sitting in front of the window and waving their fingers at me. I asked them if I should go repark my car and they said no that they will let me slide this one time. Ok so about a week later I drive by the coffee place again and there is no parking,I find a tiny spot, so I park really fast and run inside to get coffee. I'm gone 2 minutes, I come out the same cop is standing next to my car waiting for me. The back of my car was touching a curb and the front was sticking out into the street past other cars, so it looked really crooked. But to my defense, it was still within white lines drawn on the ground for parking. I said I was really sorry, but its 6 am and I really needed coffee, and he replied that he gets the impression that I just don't care.
Every day since then, whenever I ran into him, he keeps staring at me. This morning I parked beautifully! and right in front of the cafe. When i was coming out I saw the same police officer crossing the street and really focusing on my car, like he was trying to find something to give me crap about. WTF, aren't they supposed to be impartial? i really feel that he has a grudge against me now, should I just avoid that cafe from now on or should i politely ask him to stop staring and that it makes me uncomfortable?

If a vehicle is blocking my driveway...TEXAS?

Lately a truck has been blocking my driveway. And it's been bugging the hell out of me. It' always the same person and yesterday he let me know he wouldn't take long, but today he actually parked right in front of it.

If i call a towing company, would i be charged with anything? Or just the driver of the truck?

Thanks
