Why Is It When I Report A Question It Does Not Go Away

How can I remove an eviction from my credit report when I m not even the one paying any of the bills?

So, I m an young adult. I live with my mom and her boyfriend currently. I m in a really hard situation. The complex I live in REQUIRES anyone over 18 living in the apartment to sign the lease. So, for the record, I m not paying for rent or any of the bills but I was made to sign a lease. My mom and her boyfriend are toxic people and alcoholics and her boyfriend can get violent really fast when he s drunk. I am able to sustain myself at my own apartment but not without struggle. I just need to get away from this environment. But I know that will be very difficult with an eviction on my report so how do I remove it? I don t know if I went to the office and explained my situation if they would "pity me" enough to let me off. I have no idea what to do and I wake up feeling sick from all this stress. Any HELPFUL advice will help.

If I downvote and report a question, will it be deleted by Quora?

Not necessarily. When you downvote a question, it tells the system that you believe 1) it is a low quality question and 2) that it should not be shown to others. Nobody really knows how the algorithm works, but I would imagine that when questions receive ‘enough’ downvotes, the distribution becomes increasingly suppressed from peoples’ feeds until it reaches a point of not being distributed at all. Again, I cannot say that these thresholds are. Quora tends to be tight-lipped about the details of how this works.Reporting, in contrast, is different from downvoting. Reporting alerts a moderator that you believe one of Quora’s policies have been violated. The moderator will take a look at the report and they will either agree or disagree with your assessment. If they agree, they will take the appropriate action, which could include anything from a warning to the OP to removing the question entirely. If they do not agree, nothing will happen. In short, downvoting has to do with distribution, whereas reporting has to do with policy compliance. Users do not have the power or authority to press buttons and make questions magically go away. There are checks and balances in the system.

Do you report people for asking questions that do not pertain to your religion or your belief system?

I don't.

In my humble opinion, it is better to love the hater, than to treat like for like. If somebody is flaming me, I treat them equal to my friends, so they can see that their hatefulness does not bother me. Also, the fact that I am treating them with love and respect is likely to be something that will catch on, and they would then respect me also.

Although stopping the reportitrolls is likely to take a little more than love. Hey, this is R&S. Why don't we ask for some prayers to have them smitten? lol

Does a misdemeanor go away? How long does it take?

How long do you have to list it might be a better question. They don't go away. After a certain period of time they are simply not relevant. A misdemeanor a year ago is certainly more ‘serious' than that exact same misdemeanor ten years ago.How long does it need to keep being brought up? That depends on a particular job and its requirements and how the question is asked. But it's always there unless dismissed or expunged or pardoned if someone wants to dig that far and deep into the past.

What makes you not answer or ignore questions people ask on Quora?

Some questions are just stupid. I report them and they go away on my feed. Some questions are degrading or designed to provoke responses from specific groups. I report them and they go away on my feed. However, if the groups they intend to provoke are atheists or scientists, I provide them with all the factual rope they need to hang themselves and gladly let them appear to be the fools they are. Some questions are thinly disguised political propaganda or religious proselytizing. I may write a snarky reply before reporting it, and then it goes away from my feed. Some questions are so poorly written that their meaning is unintelligible. For these I answer the question I think they are asking. Sometimes the question is total gibberish. These I report and they go away from my feed. Some questions are actually thoughtful attempts to gain insight into topics that are confusing or hard to understand without a university science degree. These I answer to the best of my ability.

If my tenant did not report a leak, then what obligations do I have if the premise is uninhabitable?

Oh man, that's a tough one. Sorry for your troubles!

I think you'd have to prove that the tenant knew about the leak and didn't report it. If the leak stayed inside the closet, even with the armoire there, they may not have known about it. Just the fact that there was something in front of the closet, I don't think is negligence in itself. There's no rule about looking in there to see if it's leaking on any regular basis.

I think your best bet is to get out your landlord's rental insurance policy and just get it taken care of.

I found the Virginia landlord/tenant handbook here. It's a PDF file. It's the law code, so it's cumbersome to read, but...Go to page 31 to the section on fire or casualty damage. It explains that if the work is so substantial that the tenant has to move out of the unit, either of you can break the lease.

That said, I've had to replace kitchen floors in studio apartments here that took a week, in fact it was because of a leaking hot water heater (she didn't realize it was leaking under the linoleum until the floor started squishing) and the tenant just lived through it. I would think that your tenants should be able to stay through the repairs, too.

As far as mold, that is also mentioned in the handbook above. To search that document, click your curser anywhere on the document, then hit control F on your keyboard. A little search bar will pop up. Then put "mold" in the search bar and you can read what it says about mold. What I saw said something about they had 5 days from moving in to report mold they knew about. Other than that, what I saw by just skimming, was that you need to comply with any health depts, etc., to fix things if necessary.

Anyway, my advice is to just fix it, as I doubt you can prove tenant negligence. And if they're good tenants, might as well keep them happy. Hopefully, your insurance will cover it - and maybe they'll even pay for a nice new floor or carpet :-)

How long does a collection stay on a persons credit report?

I'd be glad to clarify!
Collections stay on your credit report 7 years after the date of last activity. Don't let this confuse you...normally 7 years after date of last activity means the date that it was sold to the collection agency. Usually your account must be 180 days past due in order for the company to do that. Basically, I'm saying that the collection stays on your report 7 years and 6 months. After that, it will fall off your report.
Now, to get to your question, the collectors don't just give up and stop trying to collect the debt. Legally, they are still entitled to their money since they were not paid as agreed. They can attempt to collect that debt forever, if need be. You're right. Many people would just wait out the 7 years and start all over if that was the case. Cheaper than bankruptcy, no?! But that debt will follow someone until it is settled or paid.

Why are my questions disappearing without any notification at all?

The only question for which I have any notification for the deletion was the one about a user who emailed me telling me that I was blocked for reporting him. What is going on here? Has somebody figured out how to report things so that the reportee doesn't get notified?

What happens if a police report was made for domestic violence and the victim (me) doesnt answer or return the detectives phone calls?

Your report will remain on record, which is a good thing. The authorities are used to victims pulling out of filed complaints in domestic violence situations due to fear or intimidation. However, if you have children and they are preceived to be at risk, there is a slight chance that there will be further involvement. It is in your best interest to follow through on the complaint in some manner. At least answer the phone. It sounds like you are afraid? Or maybe your abuser is in a honeymoon phase and acting especially charming? The cycle of domestic violence you seem to be in is typical and I urge you to speak to the authorities who are trying to reach you before your situation snowballs. All the best to you! Stay safe.
