Why Is Liverpool Seen By The English As Untrustworthy

What some england slang words?

erm, I think that abc must be unfortunate enough to live in some real dodgy area because most of those words mean nothing to me (although I am probably older - maybe it's teen-speak around London these days).

there you go - dodgy is a slang word, meaning a bit odd. You can have a dodgy geezer (untrustworthy man), dodgy boiler (that could literally mean that your hot water boiler isn't working or it could indeed mean an unfortunate looking woman).

Butty - sandwich (mainly used around Liverpool)

Old bag - another unfortunate woman - usually older!

Dole - unemployment benefit

Shank's Pony - method of travel involving walking

Smoke - another word for London

Blighty - the UK (or possibly just England)

Neeps & Tatties - (Scottish) turnips and potatoes

Knackered - tired

Gasping - needing a drink "put the kettle on, I'm gasping"

Filling up - about to cry

...............there's loads of it

Why do the McCanns evoke such strong emotions?

I was always confused by references to the McCanns' class. Kate has a strong Liverpool accent, far from the cultured, posh circles that everyone assumes they both belong to. Can you imagine her and Gerry listening to a night of Messiaen, or at a Shakespeare play, or even reading Dostoevsky?
I honestly believe their 'origins' came a close second to where little Madeleine may be, and was being made important be the day - making Joe and Josephine Public more irate than they really should have been. And it still continues today.
It is part of the McCann P.R. myth that they belong to a much higher class of people than most of the rest of us. Lots of other doctors are prosecuted for careless driving, bad accounting, sexual harassment. And, in the case of Harold Shipman. Murders.
Merely being a doctor does not make anyone above investigation or accountability.
