Why Is My Car Squeaking And Trusting

My car is making a squeaking noise by front wheel well.?

Not sure if it is related but my drive belt also makes a chirping noise upon start up when the engine is cold. I replaced the belt not too long ago. it stopped making noise for about a month then started again. It makes noise for only about 2 minutes in the morning then its good until the car has cooled completely off. Is it possible that the two could be related? could one of the pulleys be bad causing it to make noise upon startup and the noise that Im hearing by the wheel wheel when warm.

Why is my car creaking when turning at low speeds?

Could be a lower ball joint , they can make a loud creaking noise over bumps or turning

Squeaking on 2003 Chevy Cavalier?

I have the above mentioned car and for a while it's been squeaking toward the right side of the engine when I turn it on and while I drive it. My dad looked at it, drizzled some water over a belt in the front and the squeaking went down/almost silenced but that obviously only lasted a few minutes. And then he said it may be the alternator (how he got to that conclusion from messing with the belt, I couldn't tell you...)

I know nothing about cars, or what that means, and frankly I don't trust my dad's opinions about cars because while he claims to have been a mechanic 30 years ago, he also drives all his cars to the point you can barely sell them for scrap anything (parts, exteriors, you name it).

I've heard it could be the alternator (not 100% sure what that is), the serpentine belt (do cavaliers have that?), a belt tensioner, or some combination of the above. Has anyone had this problem? What is it? I can't afford a mechanic. Once I figure out the problem and the part(s) I need a friend offered to help fix it.

My car squeaks while driving.?

My car squeaks while driving. It also squeaks when pushing down on it. Its so annoying. I want to fix the problem.I sprayed lubricate on the parts under it, but it started back in 2 days. Anybody familiar with this?

My car's brakes/wheels make a screeching/squeaking sound every time I brake. What is wrong and how do I get it fixed?

One of three things is making that sound. Most probable is the wear indicator described by Brett Williams. The cure is to replace the brake pads (generally an inexpensive and uncomplicated job, but may involve also replacing the calipers).Second most probable is simple "brake squeal". The pads are not securely connected to the calipers, and so tend to vibrate in place under certain conditions. Most brake-pad manufacturers include "anti-squeal plates" along with the brake pads; these plates provide a little spring tension between the caliper and the pad, mostly eliminating the squeal. It may be the case that the last person to do a brake job on that car failed to replace the anti-squeal plates. This is a very cheap fix if you find a shop that happens to have a set of anti-squeal plates that fit your pads. In a pinch, you may be able to do the same job with high-temperature silicone, but I'd recommend the plates. If necessary, one can always buy a set of really cheap brake pads for your car just for the anti-squeal plate that come with them. As a bonus, you have a full set of replacement brake pads onhand for next time. This should be a very inexpensive fix.Third most probable is completely worn-out brake pads, with their friction surfaces completely worn through - wearthrough generally happens sooner on the leading end (clockwise on the left side, counterclockwise on the right side). Again, the cure is to replace the brake pads (and maybe the calipers) but this time you'll probably also need to replace the rotors because very few shops these days ever bother to turn rotors, and replacement aftermarket rotors tend to be less expensive than the labor of turning them). This is the most expensive fix because of the additional parts, but labor is not significantly greater than either of the other two first causes listed above.

My brakes are on my car are squeaking but I have plenty of brake fluid in it. What does that mean?

Original Question: My brakes are on my car are squeaking but I have plenty of brake fluid in it. What does that mean? There are various reasons for squeaking brakes. If the pads are worn down to the metal, they need to be replaced today. (And probably the rotors will have been damaged by metal-to-metal friction and they will need to be replaced too.)But sometimes brakes squeak harmlessly. In many cars, there is a thin piece of metal (a shim) between the brake pad and the hydraulic piston. It is there specifically to prevent squeaking. If the brakes squeak nonetheless, you (or the garage mechanic) can put a thin film of anti-squeal grease between the brake pad and the steel shim. Note: it has to be special brake grease - other grease may not stand the temperatures and may contaminate the pads. It’s very effective and will normally stop all squeaking .

Why do my brakes squeak.?

Could be dust. Have you been anywhere particularly dusty or dirty lately? If not, some brake pads are designed to squeal when they're getting low enough for replacement. Kind of like an alarm that you need to get to the mechanic. The brakes will still work when there's no pads, but you'll be damaging your discs and those can get expensive. Better have someone you trust check it out. The pads are fairly inexpensive.

My car's brakes squeak, but only if it has been parked for a long time at night. Help?

I would not think it is due to rust on the rotors... usually rust gives you a grinding feeling ... sounds to me as if you have semimetalic pads on the car... they will squeak until the pads get warm due to the fact that the metal fragments in the pad are very rigid when cold then they soften up as they heat up... I would have the brakes checked and if there is plenty of pad left and you can deal with the squeal I wouldn't do nothing at this time wait till you need to have the brakes changed then go with a higher quality brake pad and make sure that who ever installs them greases all contact points and slides as well as putting some grease in the back side of the pads this will keep any squeaks from happening... a squeak is just a vibration... the grease in the back of the pads will absorb this tiny vibration eliminating the squeal... also when your brakes are replaced have who ever does the job put an non directional finish on your rotors this will also help from any squealing...

My breaks are squeaking can I WD40 them?

Oil on your pads or rotors will make it worse, do not oil them!. The squeak is built in, as your pads were down almost to the end, a little piece of metal obtrudes to grind against your rotors creating the squeak. This is telling you that your almost metal on metal, if you wait to long instead of just new pads it will be pads and rotors.
