Why Is My Car Still Turning Off

Will turning off the car while still in drive hurt it? ?

I have never heard of any problem as a result of that and I have done it several time before too, but I would not be surprised to learn that it can cause problems. In my opinion it is best to put it in park, set the parking braking to take the load off the transmission, then turn it off!

When i turn off my car it still sounds like it running?

After run is different than an electric fan. Since your description has more than one possible answer. Also consider this. I once owned a Buick that did not turn off after I turned the key off, and pulled the key out. When i say running, i mean that the car was still firing on all cylinders. I would have been able to drive it places, except that the removed key had locked the steering wheel. I took it to a repair shop. An electrical short in a switch on the dash, was keeping the ignition circuit hot. Even though the key had been cut off. I had never seen anything like that before, or since. So, when you say it is still "running", I hope you don't mean that it is still Actually Running.

Why does my car sound like its on after i turn it off?

It could be just your cooling fan that is staying on after you switch your car off. That is just a normal thing. Check your car if its overheating coz the longer your cooling fan stay on after switching it off it means that your engine is a little bit hot than normal. Hope this help!

Turned off my car, and it was still making sounds?

I was driving my Mazda RX8. I parked my car in the driveway, I put in first gear like always, foot down on clutch, pulled the hand brake. the usually parking stuff. When I took the key out, everything inside the car was off. Like I wouldn't be able to drive it, or turn on any of my electronic devices. I get out of the car, and I hear a sound, sounded like a fan, I thought at first it was coming from my house, upstairs since the window was open since my mom is painting her room, but I noticed it came from the car. I went back in, turned the car on, and then turned it off. The noise went away. So my question is: what was the fan-like sound I heard, and is it okay to shift gears in your car while its off? (I thought maybe it had to do with the gear being in first (I just learned how to drive stick like a week ago), so I turned on the car, foot on brake n hand brake up, n put in into neutral, and then turned it off, (heard the sound go away) and then I put it back into first (my driveway is on an incline) and I heard sounds from the car while shifting into first (noting bad like a horrible screeching sound), is that sound normal (just making sure)?

Car makes a rumbling sound when turned off?

When I got out of my car, I noticed that it sounded as if the car was still running, but my engine was completely turned off. It was making a low rumbling /bubbling sound almost as if you were boiling water on the stove and it just started to bubble. I left because I was scared the car was going to explode or something. When I returned about 5 to 8 minutes later it was no longer making that noise. I did not try to start it up again. No way. I'm parked next to several cars, on campus. Cant risk being sued for something happening to their car because of whats happening with my car.
Its late and the weekend and nothing much I can do about, what are your opinions on the problem. All help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Car: Plymouth Neon, 2001. Used.
The only trouble I've had with it was the starter, a year ago.

Why does my cooling fan come on once the engine is turned off and ignition back on?

The main work of cooling fan is to remove the heat from the radiator. Ideally, when the vehicle moves, the forward induced air allows to dissipate the heat of hot engine. The radiator has thin fins which allows the air to move fast and remove all the heat from the running engine. When the temperature of the engine becomes very hot, a thermocouple sensor is linked to the engine which notifies the ECU (An Electrical circuit Unit) of the vehicle which allows the cooling fan to be turned on and that allows more air to be induced in the radiator to cool down the temperature. So, if your engine is turned off, then the cooling fan will automatically go off. But, it doesn’t reduce the temperature of the engine. So as soon as you start your vehicle, the sensor sends the signal that the temperature is high which allows the cooling fan to be turned on.
