Why Is My Laptop Battery Draining So Quickly

Why is my TI-89 is draining the batteries so quickly?

It is not really possible to drain 4 AAA batteries in 2 weeks (!!!), unless:

1. Your AAA batteries are faulty. Try a different batch or brand to see if they are any better.

2. What applications do you run on your calculator? If you play games or run very intensive computation programs, then, of course, you will drain the batteries very quickly.

3. Do you leave your calculator on all the time? I know that there is a preset timer that shuts off the calculator after a certain amount of idle time, but do you shut off the calculator once it is done?

I think the most likely problem is number 2. I have played games on my calculator and it drains the batteries extremely quickly. It requires the full power of the processor because of the rapid redraw rate of the screen. Therefore, your battery life is going to suffer.

Why does my Laptop Battery drain quicker?

It is not a new computer. Most likely the battery will need to be replaced.

Some things to remember with running your laptop on battery:

The more running processes, the harder your cpu works, the more electricuty it uses, the more heat it generates, the more the fan has to cool it, running your battery down faster.
- Close or disable startup programs
- Set your battery options the most conservative option when not plugged in. There should be two power configurations, one for battery, one for powered.
- Lower your screen brightness when on battery.
- Get a program that monitors your battery. Trusting HP diagnostics to tell you correct information about problems with your computer is like asking the devil if hell is nice. You're not going to get a straight answer.

I do not recommend aftermarket or factory refurbished batteries. Get original factory parts, however being a 5 year old computer, this may not be possible. Find a reputable resale vendor online.

Hey guys

I just bought a new laptop a few days ago. I've noticed now though that whenever I use it unplugged the battery drains incredibly quickly. It'll say that I sitll have over an hour left but immediately shift to 6% after minutes. It was perfectly fine for the first few days until I played a game on the laptop without charging it

The laptop in question is a Lenovo G580 with a core i7

(Note: I have not overcharged the laptop at all which is why this is confusing to me)

Why do my batteries for my ceiling fan drain so quickly.?

purchased a ceiling fan remote unit in September 2012 and have gone thru nearly 6 small 12v batteries on remote unit. at first I thought it was disconnected at the fan and re-did the wiring. batteries seem to drain quickly. I watch to see that all the lights on the remote turn off and they do. I have this mounted to the wall next to the light switch to the room. any ideas what would be causing this unit to drain the batteries to quickly? thanks for your help

My laptop's battery is draining after I shut it down. How can I solve this problem?

The battery probably is worn out. If it is discharged more than 5% after shut down and next switch on, then battery is affected seriously and it might be the time for replacement. Also check for proper storage and charging & discharging best practices. Improper handling might affected the battery capacity, leading to self discharge. All battery types, be it lithium or lead acid, degrade in heat. so they must be stored in cool and dry places (18–25 C).It is recommended to store them at 3.6 V with 60 to 80 % charge . It should never be 100% or 0% , they can loose charge cycle under such conditions. Lithium batteries stored for longer periods, loses around 10% charge per month. so, it would be recommended to charge every 3–6 months to 80%. If the batteries are not charged for long time, they might reach less than 3.3 V which is an under voltage condition and it will affect the battery output

My Acer Laptop Drains Battery Fast.?

What can cause a laptop battery to drain so fast and what can be done to resolve this issue?

If you're doing any sort of video editing, or playing games that have high graphics and require a lot of processing power, your battery will drain a whole lot faster than if you are just checking your email. You can lower the brightness of your screen, which might get you a few extra minutes, or your laptop should have a low energy mode/power saver/eco mode or something like that. This will probably save you a decent amount of battery, but your computer will run a little bit slower. You can also try getting a portable charger, although they can get a little pricy.
