Why is my USPS package at an international sort facility and stuck in San Francisco for two days?
Tracking tells you where it was at the minute listed in tracking. Most tracking data is taken during sortation and then the sorted mail is loaded on trucks for transport to the next location. When you don’t see an update, it does not mean the item is still there. It is moving and when it gets sorted again at another location, there will usually be an update.

It's stuck in customs. They will release it once they have finish their inspections and whatever else it is they do to the packages that come in and go out internationally. Patience is key here. If after two weeks it is still there then contact the person who sent it to you or if you are sending it, call the main office (1-800) # and request a claim to investigate the whereabouts of the package.
What does "Processed Through Sort Facility" mean for USPS?

Unlikely it is lost, but since packages are sorted by machine, it may have gone to the wrong city in error. It should be returned to 10199. You could take a printed copy of your tracking to your local post office and see if they have it. Things can occasionally go wrong. Millions of pieces of mail are handled at 10199 during each of the three shifts each day.

It caused confusion with people thinking that their items were lost or never going to be delivered. Now, if missent, it is returned to the mailstream and goes through the scanning process again, with the same event descriptor. It was missent to a delivery unit and then returned to Jamaica to be rerouted

My package is international registered mail from Nigeria going to a certain address in UTICA, New York. Normally it should take 1-2 working days for it to get to UTICA from New York Usps facility 10199. I have tried all available means to reach the usps customer service on phones but no one is there to pick up the call any moment I called them. Pls help me. Hope my package hasn't got lost?
