Why Is My Right Eye Still Dilating

Why did my heart beat, eye dilate, and feel dizzy after putting eye drops?

Make sure that the Prescription that the Dr. gave you is the RIGHT MEDICATION. Sometimes mistakes do happen at the drug store due to Dr’s handwriting etc. Make SURE you are giving yourself the RIGHT AMOUNT of DROPS and in the CORRECT EYE or if it is both eyes. Also, that it is the RIGHT TIME. Eye drops are specific. Then, if all of the above IS CORRECT, CALL the PHARMACIST where you get your medications. Have them review your eye drops to see if that is a side effect possibility for that eye medication. Also have the pharmacist check your other medications to see if there would be a possibility of interacting w/ any of your other meds. If so, CALL YOUR DR. Dr’s do NOT have the time to look at all of your meds you are taking besides your eye meds. USUALLY however, if this ONLY happened when you put in the eye drops, it would be due to THAT MED and not your other meds unless there are OTHER eye medications that you are also having to take (which is usually the way it is after eye surgery) So, good luck. Definitely let YOUR DR. know! Also, was this the first time you used the eye drops? That makes a difference to. So, call your pharmacist first.

How long do eye dilation drops last for?

In 2009 (at 11 years old), I had a severe eye trauma, which involved some sort of displacement/detachment of the vitreous humor in the posterior cavity of my right eye. During treatment, I was required to take this eye drop that dilated my eye. I’m now 19 years old and my right eye is still dilated. Is this supposed to go away and go back to normal? I just find it really annoying because I can never really take good close up pictures. And that’s because the dilation of my right eye obviously lets in more light, thus my eyelid naturally stays slightly more closed than my left eyelid, making me look rather stupid.
Any information related to this is greatly appreciated.

How long do eyes normally stay dilated after visiting the ophthalmologist?

Dilation involves the use of special eye drops to relax the muscles surrounding the pupil. It is mostly done during comprehensive eye examination allowing doctors to identify and diagnose eye problems that they may otherwise not see.I have Glaucoma and every six months I visit Apollo Clinic for an eye checkup. The condition was diagnosed by dilation. I find their service to be extremely professional and convenient. The ophthalmologist said that the eyes will remain dilated for 2-4 hours. In my case, the dilation lasted for 2.5 hours. The process is not at all painful however it can be a little uncomfortable for the eyes. As per my information, the effect of dilation can vary from person to person. It depends on the drop that has been used by the eye doctor. Based on the examination, the doctor decides on the drop that should be used. The types of eye drop used for dilation include Phenylephrine, Tropicamide, Hydroxyamphetamine, Cyclopentolate and Atropine. Also, the colour of the eye determines the duration of dilation. Pupil dilation lasts longer in people with light coloured eyes.

How long should your eye stay dilated after an exam?

It could depend on various different things. One being your eye color but also it depends on how your eyes react to the drops and the strength of them. I had eye surgery and my eyes stayed dilated for three months! Now considering you didn't have surgery it will probably be fine when you wake up.

Depending on the time of my regular visits my eyes are back to normal during the night time or morning. I wouldn't be too worried about it, especially if your eyes were fine.

Is it safe to play video games after getting eyes dilated?

As of right now (7:30 PM) I had an eye exam and my eyes dilated at around 3 (so 4 hours ago as of right now). The effects aren't as strong as they were but my eyes are still slightly uncomfortable. Is it safe to play video games, with my glasses on, with my eyes still dilated?

Dogs eyes fixed and dilated after dental cleaning?

Friday I took my dog to get a dental cleaning in which they put him under anesthesia. His eyes were funny after I picked him up but I figured it was just the anesthesia still in his body. 2days later he finally started acting himself, happy and excited and playing with my other dog. I noticed his eyes were still looking funny to me. I looked good into his eyes and realized his eyes were extremely dilated and fixed. They would not change. I took him in right away to the vet but they could not figure out what is wrong they said there are no signs of glaucoma and they gave me eyes drops to put into his eyes. I am suppose to go back to see them tomorrow, however, I been searching online and one of the medications that they prescribed him after the dental cleaning, Rimadyl, has serious side effects. Could that be one of the reasons why his eyes are like that? Or what else could it be?

If I cover one eye and point a flashlight into my other eye, will my pupils dilate equally or separately?

Well, first of all, your pupil will not ‘dilate’ when exposed to extra light. It will constrict. But to answer the question, if you have normal pupil response, then your covered pupil will indeed constrict along with the uncovered eye, but may not stay constricted as long.

Right after I yawned, when there were still tears in my eyes, I started smiling and there was a feeling of pressure on my eyes. What was that?

This is just a guess but I imagine it is related to air pressure, when we yawn, usually, its an indication that we are physically tired, and don't have sufficient air in our lungs. We are sucking in air during the yawn, which, since the ear, nose and throat are connected passages, would put pressure on the back of the eyes, causing them to tear up, and the ears to pop, on occasion, so that's my theory for what it's worth, but it is just a guess.
