Why Is My Windows 8 Os Not Displaying Any Tiles Any Way To Fix It

In my laptop I had installed Windows 8.1 but it is not working now. It is just with a black screen and a working cursor. None of the app is opening and totally nonfunctional and system restore is also not working. What are any suggestions?

Insert the Windows 8 DVD/USB stick and boot from it. It will have options to refresh/repair, etc. If nothing works, use another computer to burn an Ubuntu ISO onto a CD/DVD/flash drive and use it to boot into Ubuntu (it can be booted directly from CD). Access your C:\ drive via Ubuntu, copy off everything you need to another drive/partition (Documents, Pictures, Videos, etc. Next time change the location of these folders to another partition so you don't have to do this step if Windows crashes beyond repair). Reboot, insert Windows 8 media, reinstall on C:\ (partition will be formatted).

How do I install Windows 8.1 64 bit over Windows 7 32 bit?

To install a 64 bit version of Windows you must have an 64 bit CPU.If you are not sure about this, press Windows+Break on your keyboard. In "System Type" you will read "32-bit Operating System". If after this there is "x64-based processor" then your CPU is 64 bit.Now the problem is that you can't install a 64 bit version of Windows over a 32 bit. So the only possible solution is a clean install. But if your CPU is 32 bit you CAN'T install a x64 version of Windows. Try installing the 32 bit version or upgrade your CPU.

Windows 7 vs Windows 8.1?

So I'm not a computer guy and I'm gonna preinstall my OS soon. I heard that windows 8 is really good and it has improved performance. My laptop is Lenovo G580
RAM: 8 GB
CPU: Intel Pentium dual core 2.2GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT630
Which OS would you recommend me?

Thanks in advance :)

How to take a Screenshot in-game? (Windows 8)?

Sometimes when games go full-screen, the 'PrtScn' button doesn't work to capture the image to the clip board.

I work around this often by setting the game to run in 'windowed mode', and sometimes if the option is there, in a borderless window.

In windowed mode, the PrtScn button works, and you can press Alt-PrtScn to capture the active window, or PrtScn alone to capture the entire desktop. Open up Paint and hit Ctrl-V to paste the contents of the clipboard into the work area.

Crop as needed, and save your screen shot.

What should I do to get my audio to start working again in Windows 8.1?

Download  a file DRP_14.x(maybe 7 by the time of my writing). Google it. Though its a hefty file(~7.5Gb). It contains all the drivers a typical windows hardware may require.  It has a wonderful installer which will detect your hardware and update the missing or outdated drivers automatically(no ads or crapware). It's well worth the effort, believe me.  Hope it solves the issue.

Windows 10 apps won't open up.How can I fix it?

Ok here's the easy answer fix that I normally have a quick phone conversation about this problem: Critical Error – Start menu and Cortana aren’t working.  We’ll try to fix it the next time you sign in. The thing is likely this will happen to every and I mean every Windows 10 user at least once and they should follow the answer I just linked because it works. I will even copy and paste the answer for you:We are aware that some customers are experiencing this error, and are actively investigating.  You may be able to temporarily resolve the issue by booting to Safe Mode, and then immediately booting back into normal mode.  This workaround may resolve your problem for a while, however the error may return later. To boot to Safe Mode: From Hold the Shift key down while you press the Power icon and select Restart.Once you are within the Windows Recovery Environment, select Troubleshoot, then Advanced options, thenStartup Settings, and Restart. When it restarts, you should see a number of options.  Press 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with networking.Once you sign into your account in Safe Mode, you’re done.  Just restart your PC to return to a normal boot.If you are running a 3rd-party antivirus software, we recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling the antivirus software, as this may also provide a workaround for this problem.  The easiest way to uninstall an app is to find it in the Start menu’s app list, right-click the app, and select Uninstall. Some customers have reported that adding a new local administrator account has resolved their Critical Error. If that doesn’t work, try removing the original administrator account now that you have a new one created. We would like to thank the community for providing logs to help us investigate this issue.  With your help, we now have enough information provided in the logs you have provided to drive continued investigations into a solution.  Thank you! Some additional content has been published here. It includes details on creating the new local administrator account as suggested above.
