Why Is Soup And Gatorade Such A Good Remedy

Why is soup and gatorade such a good remedy?

When you have a fever, you sweat, so you lose water and a little bit of salt.

You want to replace that water and that salt. Replacing the salt is less important, since your body has plenty of salt and anything you eat has more than enough salt.

It also helps to have calories to keep your body running. Both soup and gatorade contain all three.

They do not contain much fat, which would possibly challenge your intestines, but if you're not throwing up or having diarrhea, fat wouldn't be a problem.

A glass of water and some crackers would work just as well.

Some people, based on marketing, think that gatorade is a magic potion that contains electrolytes. The three human electrolytes are sodium, calcium, and potassium. You lose these three when you have diarrhea or vomit, but you don't need gatorade to replenish them. Anything you eat has plenty of sodium. Your body has plenty of calcium stored. You can get potassium from orange juice, oranges, bananas, and many other sources.

Except that when you're sick, orange juice might feel a little too acid for your stomach.

Is gatorade a good thing to drink when you have a cold/flu?

I agree about pedalite but if you would prefer a tastier choice poweraid works too just look for one with the lowest sodium because it dehidrates your body. Hope this helps

My 2 1/2 year old toddler has a fever can he drink gatorade?

Yeah gatorade is fine. However the sugar in it may make his sickness worse that is if he's got tummy issues. Water it down if you can while he's not looking. DON"T buy the zero sugar stuff it's nasty and the artificial sugar in it causes daireaha.
Try a cold cloth wrapped arounf the back of his neck or on his forehead. Not too many bathes sometimes going from cold to hot and cold to hot too fast can make things worse.
I hate to say this but have you tried the sweat it out method? My son had a really bad cold and with a fever 101 when he went to bed I put a blanket over him. He woke up the next morning saturated in sweat but the fever was goen.

What is the best food to eat after throwing up?

Try something that does not smell too much like garlic, onions, or meat or fish. They used to encourage bananas, rice, apples and toast. You might enjoy potatoes, pudding, watermelon, pears, cucumbers for satisfaction and relief of dehydration and sore throat.
