Is the age of consent in the USA too high?
Yes, it's pathetic. UK has it at 16, however can't drive a car until they're 17. USA can start driving at 14 and 8 months. We can drive but no backseating with girls.. hmm, irony. But in reality, teenagers don't really care about the "age of consent". If they're ready for sex they're just going to go and do it, it's not like they're going to go tell the cops they did.
Why is the age of consent so high in some of the most liberal American states, such as California?
Age of consent for California is 18. Alcohol is 21…marijuana is legal, and you can also marry your first cousin. You can't buy guns until you're 21, but you can get pregnant and make children before the age of 18 without letting your parents know. You now have to pay for plastic bags. They have not been banned they just put a price on them to prevent pollution…get this, if you use EBT to buy your groceries you get free bags. If you are buying clothing from a retailer or anything like hardware from a hardware store, or items from an electronics store, you still can get free plastic bags.

Considering the difference in culture, education, and maturity foriegn youth have compared to American youth, I think you need to do a little more research. The young people there are more prepared, and they are raised differently. In America, the average age of consent is 16, and even that is low as far as maturity goes for most. If you have an issue, move to another country where you can have sex at 14. Unless you are 14 yourself, in which case, you have no business even having an opinion on this, because you are one of the immature American youth who is unprepared for sex. Also, Birth control is 99% effective when used properly and in MOST individuals. I was on Depo, using condoms, when I got pregnant. There is no totally safe way to have sex, only slightly safer ways. Also, abortion is a very irresponsible way to deal with unwanted pregnancy. If you are going to have sex, you should be prepared to be a parent, and as such, 14 is way, way too young.

The minimum age to get a driving license in almost all U.S. states is 16, although you can get a permit at 15. So the driving age is either 15 or 16, depending on which way you look at it. Yet many states (including each of the six largest states) have an age of consent at 17 or 18. I think that driving is far more dangerous than having sex. Why, then, do so many states have an age of consent that is higher than the driving age? Since states set the driving age at 15 or 16, it doesn't seem logical to make the age of consent any higher.
Why is the age of consent so high if our bodies (male and female) are able to reproduce at a young age?
if there is a god or not "WHY IS THE BODY READY BEFORE THE MIND" And the reason a 13 year old is not mentally ready is becaue we are creatures of comfort and not given enough responsibilities at 13. It's ok for wal mart to make a thong and sell in the girls department but i cant look or want it. ok
