Why Is The Cdc Reacting Instead Of Acting

My kitten is acting strangely after getting neutered?

Just treat him as usual, you dont really have to lock him up somewhere quiet,he'll probably get stressed out more... he will go to a quiet place if he wants to.. he's just confused cause he just woke up hurting probably.. when my cat got neutered I always watched him going potty and checked his butt and cleaned for him sometimes (with wet tissue) ... the vet removed the stitches 5 days later.. my cat got really lazy since then... eats a lot .. sleeps a lot... I call him a fat ***.. I wasnt aware of the importance of diet? now im trying to get him a little skinnier but it's hard..

What are you guys talking about? Cats need to be grown up before getting neutered, it's best to get it done around 5~7 months ! As long as they dont spray it's not too late ! Also, dont try to feed him he'll probably throw up.. my cat did.

Why don't police use tranquilizer darts instead of real bullets?

I see this question on here a few times a year.

Tranquilizer darts do not work in real life like they do in the movies. In the movies ... dart hits target, target goes to sleep in seconds. In real life ... it might take 30 minutes for the guy to drop, if he ever does. During that time, he continues to be active and commit crimes.

The tranq would probably interact with whatever the perp is on ... and kill the perp anyway.

Dosage would be a problem. Too light and they shake it off, too heavy and it kills them.

If they use something made for intra muscular injection and hit an artery ... mainlining the stuff would kill the guy anyway.

Diagnosing and treating medical problems is a job for a doctor, not a cop. Inject a drug into someone without proper training ... lawsuit time! Getting that training would be expensive, time consuming ... and worthless considering the other problems with tranq darts.

Wildlife officers use the darts on critters because there is no problem if the critter dies anyway, the pesky varmint probably does not have a lawyer.

Why do men react this way?

Probably because the MALE friends are doing what men tend to do - think more in terms of problem-solving and rationally evaluating a situation.

On the other hand, the female friends are probably doing what WOMEN tend to do, on average, which is look at it from an emotional and sympathetic standpoint.

Which means the men are probably looking at the situation and realizing it's probably foolish for the wife to remarry too soon. Which it is. While the women are simply FEELING for her, and thinking "oh, yes, you were hurt and you deserve to be married and do what you want".

So, in this case, the logical approach is probably more accurate, for while it's good to feel for the divorced woman, remarrying in 6 months is probably a foolish thing to do and it probably will NOT last.

Especially considering that her LAST choice wasn't a very good one either.

Why do we use term pressure instead of force in the case of fluid?

Fluid having the flow ability has a tendency to have internal motion among its particles to any applied force. Hence the term pressure becomes more appropriate for the fluids contained in any container to express the applied force.

Why does increasing the concentration of acid speed up a reaction?

Increasing the concentration of the acid will increase the rate of collisions thefore the atoms will react faster as more of them are present.

Is the Swine Flu epidemic overblown? How are people reacting in your part of the globe?

Despite being in New York City and constantly hearing TV anchors screaming "Don't Panic" as many times per minute as possible, I get the feeling here in the streets that no one actually cares. New York Public Radio did a segment on the lack of any response to the swine flu by most people in the Metro Area. Actually I haven't met one person that cares at all yet.

However, outside of the U.S. people I talk to seem quite frightened.

Is it that New York's Flu season usually kills hundreds any normal year anyways? I remember plenty of years where the flu was much stronger. I'm aware of basic biology, and viral mutation etc., but human viruses can just as well mutate? So why the fear? I'm not aware of a mass pig death epidemic?

Am I naive? Or will this turn out to be even more hype than SARS?

(What scares me is that people are being quarantined now worldwide because of low grade fever and 1 day upset stomach, or regular cold like symptoms, and I see no animal kingdom epidemic that could even be close to a human mutation not to mention it would have to remain just as pathogenic with a very different genes)

It just seems odd to me. The media seems to be underplaying the fact that both people who died here in NYC had serious underlying health problems already incluing liver/kidney problems and possible gout? Consider that with how difficult Tamiflu and antiviral medication is on the kidney and liver, and then Swine Flu becomes even less threatening.

Something just does not seem right.

Maybe someone from New York can vouch for this. Is New York already "crisis'd out"? Are we numb? I'm actually glad to see that no one seems to really care despite the media sensationalism, but is this justified on my part?

Do we react or respond to our emotions?

"react," from re- "back" + agere "to do, act" (see act (v.)). respond (v.) c. 1300, respound, from Old French respondere "respond, correspond," from Latin respondere "respond, answer to, promise in return," from re- "back" (see re-) + spondere "to pledge" (see spondee). *spondee:PIE root *spend- "to make an offering, perform a rite," hence "to engage oneself by a ritual act" (cognates: Latin spondere "to engage oneself, promise," Hittite shipantahhi "I pour out a libation, I sacrifice"). Related: Spondaic.*****************************************************************************Do we react or respond to our emotions?Sometimes I really wonder which of these do we actually do. Reacting and responding are two different things and I would like to know what you guys think. Thank you in advance-I think it is an interesting question. I am going to say just my point of view, as I think it depends on the context. In this case..."react" is physical (a movement)   "respond" is mental (to think before saying something). It is like saying responsibility. Both can be done with or without consciousness. We do both since we are kids, but it is supposed that an adult have more comprehension of what is doing, more analytic/resolved. Saying so I will go straight to the point * Do we react or respond to the emotions? Emotions are impulses of the body(heart). So if the context is myself(just me)... * Do I react or respond to my emotions? I respond mentally to my emotions/impulses of my body, this is the healthy way. If  I react to my impulses I will be punching myself like some people do. I can hug myself too but it would be creepy. People generally transform the physical love of the ownself for other ways, like comb the own hair, eat healthy, do sports, etc.thanks for the question

What is your reaction on the teaser of Rajnikanth’s 2.0?

I really like the concept of taking all those phone's. I enjoyed it.Even just watching it in 2D version I can already see how cool it's gonna look in 3D because you got all those perspective like birds coming at you. It's gonna look really really good in 3D which is the format it intended for.I almost didn't recognise Akshay Kumar. His makeup is so well done as he looks like a complete different person, which he should. I could barely recognise his face.Such a creepy image like Akshay Kumar 3D thing is kinda blossoming out. I can imagine it's gonna more scarier in 3D.It's interesting to me that the flapping of phone's like a birdIt doesn't need to but they did it anyway. He (Akshay Kumar) is kinda like a birdman. Isn't he?The producers said that it's a movie on a level of transformers. Even though in terms of tune & stuff that's kind of movie you are expecting it's blockbuster, it's gonna be fun, light hearted, very-very big like you can already see from those visual effects.Even this shadow reminds me a bit of transformersIn terms of scale. You can see all the individual parts. As far as we know Indian cinema hasn't done this before on this scale, it's huge. The robots inside that stadiumThey did something similar but i don't think it quite a nice like they did in previous part of movie. This is actually a popcorn action flick film like just check your brain at door & enjoy the film. You go there and cheer Rajnikanth ( if you are a huge fan of him).Well I'm gonna cheer for Akshay Kumar as long as I can even I know he can't win against Rajnikanth. You be a badass Akshay. I'm looking forward to this movie.Who else?Edit: The movie was shot directly on 3D camera. So, the VFX looks a bit pathetic in this teaser as it is in 2D ( most of us saw teaser in 2D).I too hope that the story doesn't revolves around mobile phones & birds. Shankar is a different director. He always keep fans in suspense. I hope story will be different.

Why does the chemical reaction [math]\require{mhchem}\ce{H2O + NaCl -> H+ + Cl- + OH- + Na+}[/math] happen instead of [math]\ce{H2O + NaCl -> HCl + NaOH}[/math] in every day life?

The chemical reaction H2O + NaCl to make H + Cl + OH + Na doesn’t technically occur, but is the closest to correct. First off, the reason why the products of your reaction are ionized is because two products are a strong acid and a strong base (HCl, NaOH), and the reason why neither is technically right is because in chemistry people leave out these so called “spectator ions,” essentially ions within the solution which usually pass from one soluble compound to another in a reaction in a little thing known as a net ionic equation, which basically narrows a reaction down to its functioning components in order to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in the reaction by ignoring the non-productive elements of the reaction. This means that in the equation you mentioned, the only process that would actually be occurring would be H2O → H + OH. Again, to answer your question more simply, solubility matters in chemistry and dictates the dynamic of all chemical reactions. The reaction you put forth is a reverse acid base reaction, so, when you take its net ionic equation, and add energy to the reactants of this reverse equation, you just get hydrolysis. SCIENCE :P I apologize for my tangential writing, just something I have to work on. Hope I was helpful, thanks for the question!

Why do medical officers in the CDC wear a military style uniform if the CDC is not under the DoD?

As Jim Gordon explained, uniforms are worn by officers of the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service.  These individuals are not members of the military; rather they hold commissions as members of a "uniformed service".  The PHS provides support to the military in addition to its public health role in organizations like the CDC.  PHS commissioned officers have many, but not all, of the privileges and responsibilities of military officers.  For example, a PHS officer can be governed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, but this takes effect only when the officer is assigned to a military unit.  A PHS officer working at the CDC would not be governed by the UCMJ. The PHS uses Navy uniforms and Navy-style rank insignia.  However, if you look carefully, there are a few small differences that distinguish a PHS officer from a Navy officer.  The easiest to see is that where a Navy officer's shoulder board has rank stripes below a star, a PHS officer will instead have the same stripes below a crossed anchor-and-caduceus emblem.  The Coast Guard and NOAA Corps also use navy shoulder boards with the star replaced by something else, so you may have trouble telling the difference between those two and the PHS, but all of their emblems are easily distinguishable from a simple star. The name tag on a PHS uniform will normally have a PHS seal and the words "U.S. Public Health Service" below the officer's name, while Navy name tags usually have only the officer's last name.  Also, the seal on a PHS officer's uniform cap will be the PHS anchor-and-caduceus, not the Navy's eagle and seal with cross anchors. I remember hearing somewhere that most PHS officers not deployed to military units will wear their uniforms only on ceremonial occasions, but that may be incorrect or it may vary from location to location.
