Why Is The Name Brian/bryan So Popular

Names that sound like Brian/Bryan?

I really love the name Brian/Bryan but it's my cousin's name and I would feel awkward naming my son after my cousin (don't ask why). I want to name him something similar, but not exactly that. His last name is Palmer, so anything that goes good with that works!
Thx in advance :D

Is Ryan or Brian/Bryan a more common name in the USA?

I feel uniquely qualified to answer this question, though google does provide some basic insight. In my childhood, I thought Brian was a much more popular name, but that has taken a drastic turn. The name Ryan has been a top 50 baby name over the last several years, and in 2017, it was number 43 in the US.Brian, on the other hand, was ranked 217.The name Ryan for a girl seems to be getting more popular, though notably not yet considered popular, as it came in at 410.While both Brian and Ryan are fairly popular names for young and old alike, I’d say that playing with the spelling is a great way to change it up. As you can see, I spell it R-I-A-N, but it’s still pronounced like Ryan. I’ve only met a few people in my entire life that spell it like mine, including 2 girls, which I thought was pretty cool. It is often mentioned by those I run into who say they like it (I reply that I had nothing to do with it, but I’ll pass it along to my folks…they laugh, albeit politely).Odd spellings can create issues, though. My name is often mispronounced REE-IN or REE-AN, and there are some that even get dyslexic and call me Rain. Auto-correct does this, as well…Rain.Despite all that, I’ve enjoyed it and wouldn’t change it if I could go back and do so. But at the end of the day, who cares? If you’re choosing your child’s name, stick with what you like (within reason…). Naming your child is one of the first official acts as new parents, so enjoy it and take your time to make sure you like it.If your question had nothing to do with naming a child, then please ignore everything you just read except the top 3 paragraphs and know that your question is really odd, but I hope this helped anyway.

♂ Spelling: Brian or Bryan?

I prefer Brian, as it's neater and looks more mature.

BQ: Brian Alan, as it's more handsome and doesn't just make me think of lollies. Though I wouldn't pair them together, as they're both two syllable trochaic names that end in -n.

The spelling Brian or Bryan?

I personally find Bryan more attractive in terms of appearance. It's also "easier" to read in my opinion. Brian can sometimes trick people and look like "Brain". I like both spellings actually, but I do prefer Bryan, and think it'd be better for a book.
