Why Is This Job Frowned Upon

Why is this job frowned upon?

Do you think it's strange for a 24 year old guy to work at an ice cream shop?

I currently live with my parents (like quite a few cool guys from high school I know!), and worked my 1st day yesterday. Everybody was treating me like I had mental retardation or something.. It was so weird.

Why is it frowned upon for people my age to work there, but not jobs retail cashier, sales associate, etc., which i've done and make the same exact amount of money??

Why is it frowned upon to ask how much a job pays? You want a job in order to make money to live on, so what's the problem with asking?

I totally agree with you. Pay is something people care most about in a job. You might not be willing to bother interviewing for a job that won’t pay enough. It’s ridiculous that companies take the attitude that you must not care much about the job if you’re asking about pay right at the start.I think they make it a problem because they have the upper hand regarding the job, and they want the upper hand regarding pay. They want to keep it a secret, so they won’t discuss it until they decide to offer you the job. Then they still want it to be secret, so they try to forbid employees from discussing their pay.The rules reverse when your skill is in high demand. When I first got into IT in the 1990s, all kinds of IT jobs were in demand, so employers and recruiters often brought up pay first. I’m not sure if it was to entice workers or to cut their losses if someone was looking for significantly more, but it wasn’t a problem then. You often hear that the pay is “commensurate with experience,” and that’s reasonable, but the employer certainly has a range in mind. There is no reason the range can’t be made known at the outset. And they don’t have to be cutesy about it:“The range would be $60,000 - $150,000, depending on experience.”“Really? That’s quite a broad range.”“Well, the low end would be for a junior developer and the high end would be for a senior developer, of course.”“My understanding was that this was a mid-level developer position.”“Yes, that’s correct.”“Well, what part of that range would be for a mid-level developer?” (At this point, you’d be feeling like you’re pulling teeth and trying to maintain a courteous tone of voice.)So, you have to play their game. Ask everything else about the job, make sure it’s a fit for you, sell them on you being the best choice for them, and then you get to ask about pay.

Why is it frowned upon being a stay at home mom?

a lot of people seem to think that if you are a stay at home mom then you aren't living up to your "full potential" To me it is all a load of crap brought on by the extreme woman's right movement from the past. They told women that we had to make something of ourselves and "free ourselves" from the home and the rule of men. I am a stay at home mom and I'm proud to be one. It was something that my husband and I decided before we were even married. To us there is no other job that I could be doing that would be as important to the world! No matter what the pay I couldn't stand the idea of me leaving my children in the care of someone else to raise them and teach them so that I could go and "help out" our family. In most cases when a mother works outside of the house she really isn't bringing much money in after the cost of travel, childcare, clothing and what not. When I was little and people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would say a mommy... they would then turn to my sister and ask her what she wanted to be and she would say a doctor... they then would turn to me and say "see your sister wants to be a doctor when she grows up.... what do you want to be when you grow up" I would say a mommy.... even then they just didn't get it! Stay true to what you feel is best for your family!

Would getting a nose job be a sin? Frowned upon?

That is a tough one. God wants to give you the desires of your heart, but at the same time, the bible instructs us to be a good steward of our money. Is using thousands of dollars on a nose job that has no eternal value the best use of your money? Would it be better to use the money to spread the gospel, feed starving children ...

God has gifted doctors with the ability to perform these surgeries, so I think it inevitably comes down to your own conviction. What the Holy Spirt convicts 1 person on is not the same as another.

For instance, a recovering alcoholic may be convicted to hang out at a place that has alcohol all around him, while at the same time, not convict me because alcohol has absolutely no appeal to me and I am not tempted to get drunk.

This is a question no one will be able to answer for you. Pray and ask God to reveal His perfect will to you.

What are the most "frowned upon" jobs in the air force?

I take my ASVAB this week and I know from there I will then know what jobs I qualify for. I was just wondering, what jobs would airmen consider to be the "worst" in the air force and why? I'm looking more into the mechanical feild but also considering other fields depending on my scores.

What's the earliest one can quit a job without it being frowned upon by his next employer?

I suppose they must have given you job profile and explained you about your roles and responsibilities. However, if it is far from what they have explained you have a sky full of options.Since, you have told its only 2 months, Managers often assign such tasks(fixing issues, testing etc.) to make you understand about the features of the products. So that when you will start working you will have better understanding about know-how of product. You can confirm this trend from your senior team-mates in project. If above cases are not in you favor then please communicate your unwillingness to work on current tasks and tell them you can do better in other tasks as well such as coding, testing( whichever excites you).If all the above things do not work then you can search for a better company in terms of you expectation. Don't be hurry to accept offer from next company. Be patience and try for best. Good Luck !! FYI. I have left my second company within 20 days. I am in third company, my current employer didn't have any issue upon my last exit as I explained them my circumstances very clearly.

What are some professions you look down upon and why?

There are jobs I would not ever consider, particularly the ones I would be really bad at.There are jobs I would not want my kids or family members to have, but that I would stop worrying if they are happy with it.But there is no profession I would look down upon. Looking down upon any person and what they do for a living, generally is lack of empathy from the looker. That being said, there are professions I believe should be banned, and nobody should conduct; but still you should recognize the professionals as they are humans that can work hard or be lazy, and can polish their skills up to mastering an amazing level of skill. A simple example is the Assassin profession.
