Why Many Brits On Here Hate Americans

Why do Brits Hate Americans?

Whatever gave you the idea that "Brits" hate Americans? Based upon the British public reaction after 9/11, they are a compassionate and have generally good feelings to Americans. They may not like the American policies (especially the G. DuhW policies), but on a person to person level, I don't think that there is a general animosity.

Why do British people hate Americans?

I have met a fair amount of people that thinks Americans are all arrogant and ill-informed rude and even bigoted. I don't hate British people. I absolutely love England! I'm pretty cool with Ireland and Wales. I just don't get it. I love England as a country all together. The culture, th places are all so great. Some people are nice and friendly but others I just really wanna slap them. I'm not here to offend anyone. I just wanna know.

The people I've met thinks that we are hot dog eating, self-centered, fat people. They also think that the US is a poor imitation of the UK.

What's so bad about America? Everything is good except the President. I root for England in every World Cup but meeting those people really make me think. Is England that really good of a country? And why they hate us so much?

If I offended anyone, I didn't mean to. Its just I want to know.

Do the British and Americans hate each other?

My family and I went to Florida a few years ago for a holiday. Whilst we were there we met some of the friendliest, most personable people I have ever met. People who would approach us to say hello because they heard our accent. People who would go out of their way to help us from service industry people to normal members of the public. One day we went to a range so my son and I could shoot a few guns. A few customers wanted to ask about our gun laws and we had a really interesting conversation for quite a while. Whilst we were shooting a gent next to me was using his new shotgun and approached me to ask if I wanted a go. Americans may be brash, their society may have problems such as with an unashamed love of guns and healthcare. But every society has issues. Every single one.Americans are a lovely group of people. I am lucky enough to have friends from there I talk to on a fairly regular basis. Most normal people from the U.K like America. We are two sides of the same coin. Enough differences to interest each other yet enough similarities to recognise people we enjoy the company of and trust when the shit hits the fan. We have a centuries old friendship for a damn good reason.Stop trying to create questions that have no underlying basis in any type of fact.

Do Americans hate British accent?

Americans have loved British singers. They loved James Bond movies. I don't think they hate the accent.

Why do some (many) British people hate Americans?

...errrmmm... you do know that you just lumped all British people together and made assumptions about us based on what you've seen on TV and in films, don't you? :-)

OK, seriously. I'm British, and have no problem with Americans, nor do I know anyone else who has. I've never even heard of the slang 'septic tank' - rhyming slang is pretty specific to parts of London and isn't really in common use. And, although football hooliganism has been and sometimes still can be a problem, most people think it's thuggish and unpleasant, and wouldn't share the opinions of hooligans.

To answer your other question, Britain is made up of several countries stuck together - England, Scotland, and Wales. (There's also Northern Ireland, which is part of the 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'). They're not so much different countries as to require a passport to move between them, but there are some political differences and strong regional identities. Everyone from England, Scotland and Wales, in addition to being English, Scottish, or Welsh, is technically also British (although some people wouldn't choose to describe themselves as British, it can be a bit of a political hot-potato of different loyalties!). I, for example, would describe myself as British because my mum's English but my dad was born in Scotland, so I'm not technically all-the-way English.

I hope that makes sense! It's all pretty complicated - just like you said about America, Britain is very diverse, and people have differing opinions on many subjects. Perhaps some people do have a problem with Americans, but it certainly isn't a matter of great day-to-day importance for the majority of us. Personally I take people as I find them, and wouldn't presume to be able to judge someone based on their nationality.

I hope this answers some of your questions. If you ever get the chance, come and visit Britain to see for yourself!

Why do so many Brits hate Libertarians and the American second amendment?

@geordie but you dont need guns to rape, kill, or to do a robbery. Also most of the ganstas in the USA are Mexican and Central American illegals. They came here illegally. I dont mind immigrants but atleast they should follow the laws.

also Geordie if you are a student of history you will realize that govt do go corrupt and kill people like in Chile, or in Argentina. The USA has a evil govt, that has killed over 1 million Iraqis, imprisoned millions for posesion of ganja. Know the US govt has legalized torture without warrant. That does violate the constitution but Obama does not care.

Guess what it will come to the UK as well. The UK will turn into a sadistic police state like the USA. But even worse cause UK is more densely populated than the USA.

Why do Brits insult American football?

It's in response to the many americans who put down soccer and associate it as as a sissy sport, while claiming their brand of football NFL is king.

do a search on yahoo answers and look how many anti-soccer comments there are and where do they all come from? americans

especially the media, experts such as Colin Cowheard from ESPN who continuously insulted david beckham and his sport on his arrival to the MLS
