Why Media Files Automatically Remove From Hard Disk

How do I recover my deleted data files from a hard disk?

Thanks for A2A.Can we recover the formatted files from a computer? How is it possible? It is possible provided that it was only a quick format and nothing else has been written to the drive since. If it was the System drive then you are going to have to remove it and create a new System drive. If it was an external DATA drive, then you only need to make sure that you have enough blank space on another drive for the missing data to be written.Download and install a utility like Recuva. The free version will usually suffice.Connect up a completely blank (full formatted) external drive.Get Recuva to scan that drive and it should reveal nothing.Connect up your hoped-to-be-recovered external drive.Get Recuva to scan the source drive and it should start showing lists of files that are potentially recoverable.Instruct Recuva to write all recoverable files to the freshly prepared target drive.Shut down the system and put the currently “damaged” drive in a safe place.Start your system again, and copy all the files that you want to keep (usually photos and music) to their preferred location.Once you have exhausted this recovery drive of everything that you want to keep, both it and the original source drive can be formatted again and returned to active service. If the “damaged” drive is internal to your machine, but not the system drive, then still use a large enough external drive as the target. Don’t complain about the cost of purchasing a 2TB external HDD. It’s nothing compared to what it would cost you if you need a professional Data Recovery Warehouse would charge and there’s no guarantee that the data is recoverable even then. Besides, once everything is on the External, you can disconnect it while you make sure that you reformat the internal and then copy the files that you really want back into the machine. You then have a backup drive in the hope that you won’t make the same mistake a second time.

Why can't I safely remove my external hard disk drive even after I stopped the device?

I have this SEAGATE External hard disk drive. After installing all the software content of the drive I tried to "safely remove" the hard disk, but to my disappointment it says, " Windows can't stop your "Generice volume" device because it is in use..." I cant understand why it fails when all the windows and programs from it are all closed. I tried restarting my computer and "safely remove it again without even opening the drive but still it gave the same warning. Please help me ASAP! Thank you all!

I recently consolidated my itunes music library, can I delete the files from its original source?

Of course. Consolidating is for people who keep their music all over their place and want to COPY them to a central location. After this is done, they will be safely inside the iTunes music folder. However, if you play the duplicate that is NOT inside, it will still play the iTunes version. So yes, delete them

However, in order to make sure that they are automatically added to the folder, and that you can delete them with no questions after importing, go to iTunes settings and change them to "Automatically add files to itunes music folder" or something like that.

As for the person above me, never shoot your computer. The neighbors WILL call the cops. That's never good.

trust me, i should know.

Missing Folders/Files From WD External Hard Drive?

With external drives, there is a scenario where you can lose files/folders without explicitly deleting them.

I use Windows-XP Pro and I have a Western Digital USB external drive that I bought about 6 months ago, and I have experienced this problem a few times. Here is a possible reason for that problem.

Inside Disk Properties for your hard-drives, Hardware tab -> Properties, Policies Tab, there is a Check-box labelled 'Enable write cache on the disk'. You really want to uncheck this box for your external drive. If you always use the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon (that Windows put on the Quick Lauch Bar the first time you pull a USB connected device off), you will be told sometimes that you can't disconnect your external hard-drive yet. When that happens to me, I shut down my PC first, then wait for my external drive to turn itself off (with an audible click), before I disconnect or turn off its power.

Assuming you had Disk Cache enabled for your external drive, it is possible that your USB drive was disconnected or powered off before Windows copies the cached files back to your external drive. You can try to run Scan-disk (Disk Properties: Tool tab: Error-checking option, Check Disk button, check 'Automatically fix file system errors', Start.)

This may restore the 'lost' files/folders back to your external drive. I haven't seen a Windows Help that says this would help, but theoretically it can hurt. I would like to hear about how it goes.

Trojan problem in maple story gameguard?

I know a LOT of people play maple story, and I've never had any problems with it before.

However I was scanning my computer and AVG said that it had found two trojans inside maplestory gameguard.

I also talked to another player who found the same two trojans.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or knows more about why there would be a virus in gameguard?
