Why One Of My Goldfish Looks Thin And Weak

A fish with a "crooked spine"?

i started maybe a month ago.. one of my favorite fish.. a molly if i remember correctly. we called him wobble cause he would wobble about, however a month ago something happened. his spine sort of seemed to bend or something. the fish cant help but to be bent over and would pick at the bottom only he just wasent able to swim up with what looked like a crooked spine. he just got weaker and weaker and a few days ago he settled to the back of the tank just lying down looking like he was ready to die. I cant stand it anymore, fish or not i just cant bear to watch him suffer like this.. any chance anyone knows what i can do to help the fella get better other than just flush him now and make it easy for him?

Can goldfish go for 3 days without food?

Not a problem. It's actually good for them. Fasting helps to clean out their gut and stop bloating and constipation. All fish should be fasted at least one day a week. Many people only feed their fish every other day on a regular basis.

My goldfish poops long thin white poop.?

It seems to be a bacterial infection, and at the moment I don't have enough money to buy antibiotics. x.x Is there any other way other than buying antibiotics? I don't want my fishy to die. :(

Why ate Neon Glofish so expensive?

They are more expensive than normal danios because they are genetically altered. When they are still eggs, the eggs are soaked in genes from sea anemones, which makes them "glow". Not only does this process in itself make them more expensive, but they are also illegal to breed (though people still do, I am sure). The fish are actually part of a project to "create" a fish that will detect pollution in water. Scientists are working on making the "glow" part only occur when the fish is in polluted water. So they will be able to test the water by putting the fish in it. No glow, no pollution. Glow, pollution. Part of the profit from selling these fish goes toward the research to make the pollution detecting part become a reality.

So, re-cap:
1) genetically altered
2) illegal to breed
3) profits from sales being used to fund research

Edit: all danios are very hardy fish, and so are great fish for beginners. How long has your tank been set up for? If it wasn't cycled first (4-6 weeks of aquarium running BEFORE adding any fish), that can easily kill any fish.

Can two different breed goldfish breed?

It is possible. However they have to be around two years to reach sexual maturity. It's hard to tell the gender of the goldfish before then. It's not easy to get goldfish fry if you're not a goldfish breeder. The goldfish may eat the eggs, they're known to put just about anything in their mouth.

All my goldfish are under two years, so I have no way of telling. However I bought an oranda from Petsmart, well I thought it was. It was labeled oranda, but as it's getting older it's clear it's just not oranda. It's half bubble eye half oranda. Which does make it cute. But I don't know how it will fare in the future. Right now it's about 4 inches and it's little bubbles around the eyes are doing fine. I check on him a lot throughout the day.

So it is very much possible for goldfish to breed with one another. But you have to factor in gender, temperature, settings, & the fish themselves.

I think my fish has internal bleeding?

I think that was a good diagnosis on your part. Hemorrhagic septicemia is VERY common in stressed fish, and is only likely to beome serious in already weak fish (if they're getting picked on, sick, poor water quality). Between getting chased by the Betta and a fungal infection, it's probably plenty stressed, which compromises its immune system. Septicemia is caused by bacteria that essentially burst blood vessels, causing internal bleeding, often manifesting themselves as red blotches near the gills, mouth, or fins.

I would begin treatment with tetracycline (Maracyn TC, Fish Cycline), Triple Sulfa, Trisulfa, Furan 2, metronidazole (Fish Zole, Metro), erythromycin (Maracyn) + minocycline (Maracyn 2), or similar, gram negative effective medications. Be sure the carbon is removed from the filter, as this will suck all medications out of the water, making them useless.

Okay, I have a fish with a bleeding eye. HELP?!!?

This is a bit of extra information, because it might just be that this occasionally happens to the species of fish as it grows older, or it's vulnerable to that kind of thing happening:
Yeah, so I'm not sure what kind of fish it is, as my dads friend gave it to me after her husband died.
Its grey, it has a yellow belly, it's about 2 inches long, maybe half an inch wide and it's about 1 inch vertically. It has a top fin a little bit like a perch - bigger at one end than the other, a bit spiky, and will reveal the spikes when stressed. It has a greyish black blochy stripe on it's body, too. Oh, and it's tail is funnell-shaped and flat (obviously flat, but myeh x])

Anyway, I gave those details because that might be a part of why it happened?

It's usually a very docile fish, keeps itself to itself, too. One day, while I was inspecting my tank, I noticed it's eye was a little bit swollen. It looked a bit like skin and stuff was hanging off of it, too. My dad said another fish probably attacked it, but I'm worried it's something else, as 2 other fish have died within 2 days. My clown loach and a guppy.

Anyhow, the fish's eye has popped right out as a bag.. of blood. It looks really painful. =(

I've filled a 3L container with water from the tank, and I've put a thin layer of aquarium sand at the bottom in the hope of not stressing it out too much as it appears to be a bottom feeder. So, yeah, I've isolated the fish in it so that
1) the other fish don't nip at it while it's in a weak state
2) if it does have some kind of disease, the other fish won't catch it.

If it is a disease, what kind of disease is it and what are the chances of all of my fish dying?
Do you think my fish have just had a disagreement or something?
And what else can I do for my fish?
Have I done the right thing by isolating it?

Thank you so much in advance! =D

Goldfish swim bladder disease URGENT PLEASE...?

So for weeks now I've noticed my bubble-eye goldfish swimming upside-down. The first days I figured he would die soon... but obviously, he didn't. He's over a year old so I looked up info about it and discerned that he has swim bladder disease. Things I've read told me to give him peas smashed / cut and out of their skins, which I have done but to no avail. it's been a few months now and i read somewhere that after a certain point it would require surgery to cure this disease. I hate to sound evil but I can't afford surgery on a goldfish.

What I DO want to know is this:
-Does swim bladder disease cause considerable PAIN in goldfish?
-What are ways I can get him to eat peas? (I've fasted him for a few days, put some in there but he generally just ignores them... Even if he does want them, they float to the bottom and it becomes possibly too difficult for him to reach them because of the buoyancy issues
-What are other ways of curing swim bladder disease?

thanks for reading... any answers are helpful :)
