Why did conservative political pundit Ann Coulter attend an ACLU fund raiser last week? What was she thinking?
When Coulter published her book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism", she was asked what church she attended (where she might be getting her religious instruction). She responded Holy Redeemer Presbyterian (in Manhattan). When reporters asked how often Coulter attended, church officials knew who she was from the TV, but didn't know of her having EVEN attended. Conservative "Christians" who adore Coulter and eat up everything she says, including about God and religion, question MY take on the lessons to be learned from the teaching and example of Jesus, because I've only been a preacher for 40 years after having been a full-time student of Christian philosophy and theology for about 8 years.

Why do so many American right-wingers think Angela Merkel is left wing?
Two reasons:Because America is comparatively right wing. On the global political spectrum, the Democrats would be centre-right, and the Republicans would be off the scale, approximately ten miles to the right. As a country they naturally swing towards the right, which means their definition of “the left” is far broader than the rest of the world's.Because Germany is comparatively left wing. Even though a moderate-right party is in power, Germany is an inherently left-wing culture- university is free, public transport has been heavily invested in, etc. Even beyond politics, the national attitude is left-wing; a season ticket to Bayern Munich is equivalent to around £50, which is less than a quarter of a season ticket to, for example, Manchester United. There are rules in place in the German system to stop wealthy foreign owners from bankrolling and over-commercialising teams. Their culture naturallly swings to the left.So overall, the natural bias of the German and American political systems make Merkel (and her Christian Democratic Union party) seem more left-wing to America than they are in comparison to other German parties.
What do you think of Donald Trump saying this during a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference: “Right now we have people in Congress that hate our country and you know that”?
Anyone who wants open borders with the implication of millions of illegal immigrants being allowed in does not support the concept of a nation state. If someone does not support the concept of America as a nation state with its own culture, traditions and beliefs and are happy to replace these or alter them fundamentally through mass immigration then one could argue that they have no real love for the US which could be interpreted as actual dislike.There are also people in Congress who genuinely hate the economic system of the US which has always stood for individual freedom to go out and make what one can through their own hardwork (the American Dream). As such they wish to fundamentally change what it has always stood for and change it into what it has always opposed. One can argue that this is only a difference of opinion, but in reality it means they hate the America of today and as such hate their existing country.That is what the US understands by Trump’s remark. People who hate the existing country and wish to fundamentally change it through mass immigration and real socialism.
Do liberals hate Russia because it stopped Hitler from succeeding in eradicating Jews?
Okay, lets break this down.I hear a lot of liberals saying that Israel is bad and Palestine is goodActually this is only a tiny fraction of liberals. The position of most liberals goes along the lines of “Israel is better, but still needs to watch itself.” Of course, that’s a fairly reasonable position, so right-wing news outlets know it would make them look bad to point out to you.and I hear a lot of liberals say Trump cooperating with Russia is bad.This is actually something a lot of liberals say. The next part would then be to ask them why. The answer is (at least for most liberals) is about a foreign country messing with our government. On top of this, liberals in the US tend to have a far less rosy view of similar actions American has taken than US conservatives — so this isn’t unique to Russia.Do liberals resent Russia saving the Jews?Yes, Russia was key in stopping Hitler. The problem is that Russia really didn’t care about helping Jews. Even if you ignore the treatment of Jews within Russia, its kind of hard to miss who supplied the weapons used by the nations that waged war against Israel.Do liberals hate Russia because it stopped Hitler from succeeding in eradicating Jews?Now we get to the actual question, which I must admit doesn’t make much sense. First,the standard liberal position is that no one should get eradicated. On top of this, most liberals want as many groups as they can get on board. In the US (at least) Jews lean heavily toward the (more liberal) Democratic party, so Jews being eradicated would give liberals a weaker hand in government.Eradicating Jews goes both against liberal ideals and practical implementation of those ideals. Why would liberals be upset about Hitler’s attempt to do that being stopped?
