Why The Usa Had Attacked Libya But Not Willing To Intervene In Syria

Why won't the U.S. be punished for illegally attacking Libya, Syria and Iraq?

The United States, along with the United Kingdom, France, China and Russia are so called veto powers in an institution called the United Nations. The United Nations was an idea to promote world peace and to stop war after more than 60 million people died in world war 2. The idea was to speak to each other rather than killing. Nearly all countries are members of the UN.The problem , however, is that after Nazi Germany was beaten in 1945, the winners of this war declared themselves superior to the 195 other states and thus claimed a special status for themselves: The right to veto every majority decision. It takes only 1 veto by those 5 veto powers to nullify any proposal. That means those states are able to do whatever they want to, without getting punished because every time when there's a resolution to condemn an illegal action committed by any of those powers, the affected country will simply make use of it's veto power to block that resolution. That means that the United Nations may have started as a good idea, but currently is a worldwide dictatorship which only serves the interests of those 5 countries. The USA can start illegal wars worldwide and block a resolution condemning those actions.Russia can shoot down a civilian passenger jet in Ukraine, occupy and annex part of Ukraine or even other countries without proper punishment. One of the only politicians who demands a reformation of the United Nations is the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who called that institution a “fraud”. He runs a campaign called “The world is bigger than five”.In a rare moment, even the foreign minister of Germany, Heiko Maas has recently demanded a reformation of the so called security Council of the United Nations, which only serves those members with veto powers. However, chances are very slim that anything significant will happen regarding the security Council because even if the majority of the 195 members would manage to demand a reformation of the United Nations, those 5 veto powers, especially the USA, would simply leave the organisation. Given that the USA has the most powerful army in the world, there's nothing a damaged country like Iraq, Libya and more than 20 other countries affected by US war mongering can do to demand justice.

Why was Libya attacked by the US?

To understand the question, you need to look on Libyan history:Muammar GaddafiPeople often try to adore Gaddafi because of his achievements. This is totally wrong! Have you realized what happened after Libya went to chaos with the death of Gaddafi? The situation was…Gaddafi showed his arrogant when he talked with his Arab fellows as well as his insane ideology of creating the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya that heavily modeled from oil-rich of Saudi Arabia and North Korea’s Juche! He neglected his people when entire of Libya, despite gaining a high economic development, still too illiterate. There were less schools than hotels, and luxuries owned by Gaddafi used to banking, playing, dogma, etc.He supported terrorism against Europeans and Americans, leaving a great enmity among them. Even later he supported the West following September 11th 2001, the West still saw Libya with mistrusts. Notably? He had bombed planes, hijacked jets, sponsored terrors, etc.The Arab neighbors also hated him too, not just say, he never kept words. He caused war against Egypt, fought against Chad, supported Islamist rebels in Algeria. In the end neither supported him when the US bombed the country (although Algeria might have provided safe house for some of his family’s members). He wanted to kill his people as they wanted to protest against his crimes. He didn’t care on the poor nor even he cared on what’s going on at Libya at all.Foremost, Muammar tried to create a pseudo-North Korean dynasty surrounding him. He appointed his family members, making them like God, such as Al-Saadi Gaddafi (former footballer), Mutassim Gaddafi (foreign minister). He neglected the talents and tried to impose an air prison in Libya. That’s enough to say why no one wanted to help him and his loyalists when the US and allies bombed him and executed entire of majority his family members. The US was not good on preparing for the consequences, but they did the right thing - to remove this insane out of Libya. And Libyans accepted this overallMaybe he had begged “please, don’t hurt me” to “I will never want to do this…”, but an apology will never be enough. Had the US captured him alive, he would have been hanged even more painful

Why is Gaddafi being attacked in libya?

I think your question is a good question.WHy LIbya ? why not countries which had this issue more strongly back in Jan,Feb when this ARab Spring started ? Why not Yemen or Syria where the people held stronger demonstrations against the regime.

Because he is not a puppet.Libya has got OIl, it is the country closest to Europe.

Arab spring was in Tunisia,Egypt and perhaps Yemen, Seriya and Bahrain.

In These countries, people held demonstrations in the capital city . But in the capital of Libya people were not against Gaddafi. Infact in toke months to create disturbance in ( or the rebels to enter into) Tripoli, the cpaital of Libya. So clearly this is not the same as what is happening in other countries. There was no NATO intervention in Egypt, yet the ppl removed Mubarak...in 19 days.

More thn 19 days, even with NATO boming Gaddafi could nt be removed. That says something.

Why did NATO do airstrikes against Libya but not against Syria?

There are a few reasons. First, the two are connected. The UN Security Council, with the support of Russia and China, agreed to the intervention in Libya. However, what it did not agree to was NATO acting like the rebellion's air force, which is what happened. China and Russia felt that they were taken for a ride and deceived, so they refused to go along with any strong Security Council resolutions against Syria as a result. The other factors are more practical. The Libyan military lacked the weaponry to take out NATO jets. By contrast, Syria is just a better equipped state, so the risk to NATO forces is much greater. As others have said, the Syrian regime also has the support of Russia and Iran, which also helps explain why Syria is better equipped. The fact that the Libyan intervention turned out so badly has also made Western powers more reticent to get involved. At this point, they don't know what will replace Assad if he goes; most of the most credible alternatives are Islamic fundamentalists. The reason that Iran is so invested in Syria is that it is seen as a Shi'a state defending itself against Sunni incursion, This latter point is a bit simplistic, since the Alawites (the sect in charge of Syria) are not really Shi'a, but that is the geopolitical reality.

Why does the US want to unseat Assad in Syria?

The question is very similar to why the US wanted to unseat Saddam Hussain, why the US wanted to interfere in Yemen, Libya and Egypt. So, to understand what is happening in Syria, one has to look at the pattern of the US foreign policy. The US has a very bad habit of interfering in other nation's affairs and toppling governments in the name of freedom and democracy. In reality, the main reason is to make a subservient client state/nation that would be loyal to the US. So, it is like, whoever has a dissenting view point and a small economy, is a target of US imperialistic ambitions of control and influence. The main US argument against Assad is that he is a dictator and has no regards for human rights. Well, so who will decide who has respect for human rights or who is a dictator?? Who has given the US or NATO the right to certify who is a nice guy or a bad guy?? Who gave the NATO the right to kill Gaddafi in Libya?? And after all this, the US media starts to make a world opinion that suits the US foreign policy. Ref: Putin: Libya coalition has no right to kill GaddafiThe US is going after Assad because Assad is unwilling to toe the American line. If in reality the US was against dictators then before going for Assad, they would have gone for the Saudi Kings and the Generals of Pakistan, both of whom have terrible human rights record and are dictators in their own way. But, Obama will not do that, rather he will bend down 90 degrees and kiss the hands of the Saudi king. Obama will still sell F16s and give money to the Pakistanis. WHY? Refs: Amnesty InternationalSaudi Arabia: Five worst human rights abuses in the reign of King AbdullahHuman rights violations in PoK: NGO report had raised red flag over torture, repression in 2006 - FirstpostFor the US, like there are "good" terrorist and bad terrorist, there are good dictators and bad dictators. I think a Syria with Assad and without the free Syrian army would have been in a much better position to fight ISIS. Syria, with all its problems, would have been much more stable if the US had NOT intervened and, according to me, helped in the creation of the "free" Syrian army(rebels) to topple the Assad govt. The rebels and the ISIS are fighting almost like allies to finish off Assad with US help. It is because of the Russians that Assad has still survived.
