Why There Were Pool And Hospital For Prisoners In Auschwitz If It Was A Death Camp

What was the purpose of the Auschwitz camp?

Auschwitz is made up of 3 camps: Auschwitz I, Auschwitz II Birkenau and Auschwitz III Monowitz. They were all build at different times, Auschwitz 1 being the first.Auschwitz 1 was put into use in May 1940. At first, the Nazis used it as a prison-, concentration- and work camp. The first official prisoners were Polish politic prisoners. In november 1940, the first executions were carried out. During the first year of Auschwitz 1, prisoners were forced to build the camp, 6 days a week for 11 hours per day. In 1941, Auschwitz I was being expanded to held 30.000 prisoners and the order to build an additional camp was given. Auschwitz I had 1 gas chamber, where they experimented with Zyklon B, the gas they’d eventually use.Auschwitz II Birkenau was officially put into use in 1942. Birkenau is the death camp most people think of when they think of Auschwitz. It was also the sole use of the camp. In spring 1942, the 4 gas chambers were put into use. It is estimated that around 1.1 million people were murdered here.Auschwitz III Monowitz was mainly a work camp and was put into use at the end of 1942. German companies (IG Farben, ThyssenKrupp) used Monowitz as cheap labor. Although Monowitz wasn’t a death camp, the number of casualties was notably high. Between november 1942 and february 1943, the population halved, from approximately 4000 to 2000. Until October 1944, selections were carried out in Monowitz. Sick or weakened prisoners were sent back to Auschwitz I or II and were killed in the gas chambers.Another thing the Nazis used Auschwitz for, was medical experiments. You might have heard of Joseph Mengele, SS doctor who performed experiments on identical twins. Other medical experiments carried out at Auschwitz include pharmaceutical experiments, sterilization of women by inserting different chemicals and using fenol as a way to kill. The Nazis had many purposes for Auschwitz. Their number 1 objective was killing as many people as efficiently as possible but slave labor was also one of the purposes of the Auschwitz camps, as was medical experimentation.Edit: added more information, rephrased some sentences for better reading.Edit: corrected some numbers.

What really happened at Auschwitz?

Zyklon-B insecticide, used to kill lice in the Auschwitz delousing chamber caused distinct blue staining on the walls. This is the same poison most Jews and historians claim was used to kill millions of Jews in the notorious gas chambers. In 1990, Dr. Piper, top Auschwitz museum official with the Institute of Forensic Research in Krakow, scientifically tested the walls of the gas chamber and discovered no staining and near zero residue of anything toxic. This data is being withheld from the public. Truth does not fear investigation.

Why did Auschwitz have a Grand Piano, Movie Theater, Swimming Pool, etc. for its prisoners?

You all say the same thing. I think everybody's been watching too many Bruce Willis/Colin Farrell films. This explanation is absurd..pianos, movie theaters, swimming pools!..to entertain the German soldiers?..preposterous!..Hitler would not have allowed precious resources to be wasted like that, his soldiers could get their entertainment when they were off. These things were obviously to entertain the prisoners because these weren't DEATH CAMPS! Do some research you naive sheeple!

What exactly happened at auschwitz during the holocaust?

Hi,
It`s Ray the Whale.

Plenty of good answers here. Auschwitz was a work camp and also a death camp.

Prisoners would be selected on arrival depending on the needs of the camp for workers. If they needed more workers then more people were spared. If they had a ful complement of workers then nearly everyone went to the Gas chambers and crematoria

Now to my friends the Fluffy Bunny and Kaps.

Yes, there was a football pitch at Auschwitz. Very rarely a Jew would be allowed to join the team, he would have to be good though.

It still amazes me that because a few Jews were allowed a little bit of leisure because they were useful to the Germans that the deniers claim that the killings did not happen.

Oh well.

Appropriate Holocaust Slide Show Songs?

Maybe something by Wagner (it is a sad, but true fact that his marvelous music was used during these tragic times)..."in 1933-1934 the guards at Dachau played Richard Wagner’s music in order to 're-educate' political opponents". I'll put some links below that talk about music in the death camps, "At each of the five extermination camps, the Nazis created orchestras of prisoner-musicians, forcing them to play while their fellow prisoners marched to the gas chambers."

Such an important project you are doing. I wish I could see your final result. Good luck! :)
