Why These Actors Keep Making Movies

Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?

He really missed the mark when he made Pearl Harbor. Ben Affleck had a role far too large and Cuba Gooding, a superior actor, had a role entirely too small. Somehow people still went to see this pile of poo. Can someone please explain what's the big deal with Michael Bay films to me? Thank you.

Why Does Hollywood Keep Re-using the SAME ACTORS/ACTRESSES Over & over again?

In part because no one knows for sure what is going to be "big". You've read about companies putting a ton of money into a movie that bombs. And you've read about the small movie that makes it big (like 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding"). So companies are taking a risk when they put a ton of money into a project. Famous actors and actresses have fans who will pay money to come and see them. It's a business. Companies want to make money. If they know an actor/actress can bring in X amount of money, why take a risk on an unknown actor? Plus if they've worked with these actors before and know they can do the job and do it well - again why risk it with an actor you don't have any personal experience with?

Plus famous actors are generally in the business because they love acting and it's something that they want to do. So they WANT to work just as much as the unknown actor wants to work. Yes, famous actors make a lot of money per movie - but they also have a lot of expenses from their agent, manager, publicity people, security people, etc. and they're not guaranteed work forever. You should realize that even famous actors fall in and out of favor in Hollywood. For example, John Goodman couldn't get call backs 3 years ago and now he's in everything. (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movie... ).

And acting is no different than any other career. No one gets to take turns doing a job. There are a ton of underemployed people in all different careers. It's not like they get to rotate into their dream job while the person who already has it has to take a break from doing it. That's just the way life is. (But as an actress - I do so wish it would work that way....)

My actor keeps on spoiling the movie that I’m making, how do I stop him?

You would have to be a bit more specific to the issues that you’re experiencing but I’m assuming if you cast the actor because of their skill in portraying the character, they are capable of pulling off the role.If you are the director, it is your job to pull the performance out of the actor. If they are behaving like a diva, then you should do the opposite. Actors can have large egos, but if they encounter an extremely down to earth director, their attitude usually subsides or at least is minimized. If the director sits on an apple box instead of a director’s chair, it sets a tone for the rest of the crew. “There are no egos on this set.” The biggest mistake a director can make when dealing with an actor’s ego is to display a bigger ego and try to outdo them. Behave as a professional and they should do the same. If they don’t pick up on the cues and then your explicit requests, it may be time to seek a replacement.

Do actors or actresses get to keep movie props? Like Chris Hemsworth keeping Mjolnir, someone keeping the Ring from Lord of the Ring, Chris Evans keeping the shield, etc.

Actors and actresses do not generally keep props or costumes they used in their movies, but occasionally the director or producer gives them a prop or costume as a thank-you gift at the end of filming, or the actor or actress takes one home without permission.

Do actors get to keep their wardrobe when the movie is completed?

No…. unless you are a very big star, and even then? Only SOME pieces.Movie wardrobes are generally purchased by a production company or for smaller shoots by a stylist (who has to PREPAYfor all of these things (from all of the stores )…then ? Anything used during the filming is bought by the production company and becomes their property.Generally after the end of the production ? If an actor wishes to purchase any part of the wardrobe he/she has worn , it is often available for sale at half the ticketed price that the production company paid for it ….and then they can purchase the clothing. But they don't generally just get to keep them .Needless to say? This is why wardrobe trailers are locked up TIGHT at all times, because people like to help themselves to the fabulous shoes , accessories , clothing , hats and costumes. My last commercial shoot was a 7 actors/4 day shoot… and we were responsible for nearly $ 1 Million dollars ( retail) worth of clothing … boxes of Dior shoes to die for, plastic earrings for only $875, and an amazing , metallic gold (spray painted) sweat shirt fabric cocktail dress from Barneys in NYC with a $8700 price tag.Sigh….

Why do Filipino movies always have the same actors/actresses?

If there is too much of the same thing, then it must mean there are very little of the other things. The entire local movie industry is not very deep or diversified and there are not too many bankable talents. It has been this way for the last twenty years.

There are only a handful of producers. Some say that the government step in and help financially like reducing taxes for certain projects.

Philippine production houses will only make movies for the sake of making money and not for its arts side of telling a good story. It gets so bad when they do not want to experiment on new things, improve their craft, and diversify into new horizons. There are so many stories to tell, and there are so many ways to tell it. So when these spoiled producers and talents tell me to patronize our very own local industry, well f*** them, I am not giving them my money, I know it's nothing but a pile of s*** anyway. I don't even think that these same producers and talents would patronize (or at least watch) Filipino movies for their own entertainment. And yet, they keep making and selling piles and piles of this.

Overly obsessed with love story movies, you say? It's the only story that is not only very easy to make but very easy to sell as well. Not only are there very few talents, but there could be only one main story line that is being told over and over again. This can be said as well to action flicks. One story line or concept, and every movie has it.

Not only is it too much love story, but too much love songs as well. It is sickening.

Why do actors keep acting when they are already super rich?

While some do seem like they really are being greedy, many love acting. If they didn't they would've quit. Besides, some people (like Will Smith) have kids who are going to want to attend college. Which is pretty damn expensive. Besides, would you want your favorite actor to quit making movies? Didn't think so.
But most importantly, acting is FUN. It's such a difficult job to get into in the first place, maybe they feel so blessed to have the honor of the best job ever, and to show their gratitude they make awesome movies for the public to enjoy!

"In porn movies, how do actors maintain an erection so long time?

When I was in college I worked behind the scenes on an art film as the director's assistant he was a friend of mine and had asked me to help out. The film had lots of graphic sex scenes which were actually filmed and edited exactly as Shiny Things described it in her answer here. As far as how the guys maintain there erections for a scene they actually don't most males can't hold it that long so the director calls cut and while on on break my job was to stimulate the actor either orally or manually so that he was ready when filming resumed. It was actually very difficult work, I actually got a taste (no pun intended) of whats required to make an art movie.
