Why Was Protein Once Considered Unhealthy

Are nachos considered unhealthy?

not the healthiest thing to eat, but I guess you do get your carbs, your dairy, if you put meat on it, you get your protein, if salsa, you get your veggie. it's kinda like pizza I guess, it has all the good stuff on it, but it's really not that good for you. I'd say they're healtier than pizza though cuz they aren't dripping with grease, lol. I'd have to say the nachos you described would have anywhere from 380-450 calories. YUM! Nachos sound good now! I think I'll go make some! Thanks! haha

Why is eating eggs during the summer not considered good for one's health?

Eggs have two components - Yellow and White.White is protein rich (and hence takes time to get digested and absorbed by the body) and Yellow is other nutrient rich (such as fat, mineral, vitamins).Whenever a protein rich diet is taken, body generates more heat (and hence burn more calories) to digest the food. This generation of internal (metabolic) heat is sometimes confused as a reason to not eat eggs in summer.Actually eggs have same effect (be in summer or winter) and is entirely safe to be consumed in summers in equal amount as in winter. However, too much intake of eggs (in summer or winter) may affect your digestive system if your body is not used to that high protein intake.Bottom Line: Eating eggs in summer has no side effect and is advisable.

Why are burgers considered unhealthy?

I think most of other answers have gone into plenty of detail about the unhealthy aspects of commercial burgers. Another thing to consider is that cooking meat at high heat creates compounds which have been shown to be carcinogenic. As to your ideas about what entails “balanced,” it’s not enough to have elements of various food groups - you also have to take into account the amount of each element. A burger is primarily meat, then bread (most often white bread), with only tiny amount of vegetables. That is the opposite of most dietary advice. Then there is probably the most important thing to take into account, which is frequency of consumption. A person eating a diet high in vegetables, fruits and whole grains can have an occasional burger without it harming their health. But the average person does not eat that way - many people have burgers several times a week, or even every day, along with lots of refined flour and sugar, and eat very little in the way of vegetables and other “healthy” food.A burger is not a food that can be eaten every day as part of a healthy diet, unless it is a VERY small burger. That’s probably the biggest reason why they are not considered healthy - people use that word to refer to the health impacts of a food when eaten in portion sizes and frequencies that are typical, not just as a one-off, once a year event. If you maintain a healthy diet, you can eat just about anything once a year and your health will not suffer. But there are many foods that cannot be eaten on a daily basis without having a negative impact on one’s health. Those are the foods that we call “unhealthy.”

Is Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner that unhealthy?

Ok, so I love my Kraft Macroni and cheese. prolly have it once or twice a week. Im 14, and get about an hour of exercise a day. I looked at the ingredients list and did not see MSG in it. no high fructose corn syrup. So why do people say it is so unhealthy. I use 1% milk and smart balance margarine. and only use 3tbsp. of smart balance margarine...ingredients list- enriched macaroni product (wheat flour, Niacin, Ferrous Sulfate [Iron], Thiamin Mononitrate [Vitamin B1], Riboflavin [Vitamin B2], Folic Acid;
Cheese Sauce Mix (Whey, Milkfat, Milk Protein Concentrate, Salt, Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Calcium Phosphate, Milk, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Enzymes, Cheese culture)..
The only things I could see is the enzymes as I heard that is why hotdogs can possibly increase chances of cancer cause they have enzymes in them? and the high sodium content.

Are Indian food habits unhealthy compared to those of Western countries? Where's protein in our food? Isn't it all carbs, carbs, carbs?

Indian diet is very healthy. It is shift in way we started consuming food. Less food comes from original source. It is more pasteurized food (cheese, pasteurized milk, fruits imported from western countries) which kills your good bacteria in gut. We should not forget that India is very big and old country with diversified culture. What is eaten in your state and consumed by your ancestors is the best food for your body. But we have to make conscious choice. Increase fiber intake- remove simple carbs and consume in moderationOur ‘thali’ consist of Rice(simple carb your body need), chapati made of wheat and other whole grains(complex carb) Lentils and beans (fibre rich protein) vegetables, yoghurt and pickle(probio good bacterium you need ), Ghee (if comes from good source and consumed in moderation is considered best form of fat your body can consume)Diversity in our food and different type of food consumed different states suggests that we emphasised on eating locally grown produce rather than imported pasteurized produce. If you stop eating packaged food and snacks and start eating indian home made snacks and food, you will see difference.

What happens if you eat too much protein?

1.Weight gain. Excess calories from excess protein may be stored as body fat.
2.Intestinal irritation. Too much protein has been linked to constipation, diarrhea and/or excessive gas.
3.Dehydration. Experts advise drinking a half gallon of water per 100 grams of protein.
4.Seizures. Seizures have been linked to excess protein intake – but only if insufficient amounts of water are consumed.
5.Increase in liver enzymes.
6.Nutritional deficiencies. Just focusing on protein intake causes some high-protein dieters to overlook other nutrients. Ensure that your diet is balanced and nutritious.
7.Risk of heart disease. This is a bit misleading. A healthy high-protein diet is not associated with heart disease. But if you are getting all of your protein from unhealthy sources that are loaded in unhealthy fats, obviously the risk for heart disease will increase.
8.Kidney problems. Some believe that high protein and low carbohydrate diets – when done long term – can possibly cause kidney issues, but more research needs to be done.

Remember that many of these side effects are only associated with highly excessive protein diets coupled with unbalanced nutrition and/or dehydration.

Is it more healthy or unhealthy to drink a quart of chocolate milk after working out?

Depends on your goals. Are you attempting to gain mass? Ultimately if you're lifting weights to gain muscle mass, you'll want to consume at least 50 grams of protein a day. Milk contains a decent amount of protein. The chocolate contains sugar, which would be better before the workout. Ultimately, it would be better to consume regular milk, but if you want the protein, there are much better choices like 100% whey protein shake and kre-alkalyn (creatine). If I had to settle the argument, I'd tell your buddy that he's not in kindergarten anymore and drink something that has more benefits!
