Why We Got Shifted To Cricket World Cup 2007

Should South Africa host the Cricket World Cup in 2027?

Yes.Last time South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya co-hosted the cricket world cup in 2003.After that West Indies(2007), India-Bangladesh-Sri Lanka(2011), Australia-New Zealand(2015) have already hosted the limited overs cricket world cup.England and Wales are going to host the 2019 world cup followed by India again in 2023.So the only two probable countries to host 2027 cricket world cup are South Africa and UAE.

Have people in India started to shift to other sports from cricket?

I would like to share my experience here. I was a hardcore cricket fan.If cricket was on,every other thing took a backseat. I still remember Multan test as I watched it ball by ball, like all other tests and one dayers in that series,in between my 12th boards. I never missed any test involving India with South Africa,Australia or Pakistan. I could recite the names of players country wise who played in world cup along with statistics of top 4 teams. Then came 2007 world cup,the lamest of all. It also brought downfall of Aussies and rise of controversies in Indian cricket alongwith Greg Chappel. I had seen match fixing saga in 1999,but this was too much. Dravid was projected as a villain who wanted every senior out. Although it was good that team was becoming young, but the way my favourite players were treated by their teammates and countrymen really hurt. Then the unceremonious exits of those greats just broke my heart. I had seen Steve Waugh getting a hero's farewell,I wanted to see that for Rahul Dravid,Saurav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, but it was not meant to be. 2007 also brought IPL and tons of matches, which were mostly run fests. It destroyed bowlers and now there were no Brett Lee,Wasim Akram or Shane Warne. If you can throw the ball after running few feets, you are a bowler.  Also nowadays cricket is predictable to the height that bookies could run out of business. Test matches on foreign soil-India will lose,on Indian soil- nobody can beat us.And now it feels like if India loses one series, they will win the one starting next week.Furthermore,we have a politician at the helm of affairs who does not consider cricket to be a sport but a money spinning machine. This made me watch other sports and after retirement of Sachin I have not seen a single cricket match. This sentiment is echoed by many in my peer group.

Why was the 1999 Cricket World Cup conducted instead in 2000?

After 1987 world cup in India , next world cup was scheduled in 1991 in Australia/New Zealand . But as due to miss management by Australian and New Zealand board world cup got delayed by 1 year thus happen in 1992 and since immediate actions were not taken to rectify the next world cup, it happened in 1996 in India. But in 1999 this delay was rectified and worldcup was preponed by 1 yearAs a kid in 1996 I was very happy at that time knowing world cup is just 3 yrs after this time . You can imagine how sad I was after 1996 semis humiliating defeat of India :(

How do i hit a six in ea sports cricket 2007?

shift , s, and the direction i just won the t20 world cup in that game

Why is the next T20 World Cup scheduled for 2020 rather than 2018?

There will be no T20 world cup in 2018. Because World Twenty20 will be held once every four years starting 2016 instead of the current two-year interval. What makes it special is the tournaments have come few and far between, which adds to the excitement and the level of anticipation for this event and that's why the step has been taken by ICC.Planned ICC Tournaments 2016-2023 :ICC Test Championship 2017 host: EnglandICC Test Championship 2021 host: IndiaICC World Cup 2019 host: EnglandICC World Cup 2023 host: IndiaICC T20 World Cup 2016 host: IndiaICC T20 World Cup 2020 host: AustraliaICC Under-19 World Cup 2016 host: BangladeshICC Under-19 World Cup 2018 host: New ZealandICC Under-19 World Cup 2020 host: South AfricaICC Under-19 World Cup 2022 host: West Indies

I'm sure India got the taste of cricket from the British who played it here when they ruled us, but why didn't we start playing soccer too, since the British played that as well?

First of all , I beg you please, it is not soccer, it is football. Soccer is a time coined by Americans , as football is something else for them. Most of the world knows this game by the name of “Football”.I will not go on about the splendid history of football in India, about Mohun Bagan beating the East Yorkshire Regiment, about other historical events regarding football.I ll just put forward couple of points.1)1983 World Cup Win and 2007 T20 WinFor any sport to have a mass following or fanatical following there needs to be some basic trigger points in that game’s history for that nation. India’s win in the 1983 Cricket World Cup against the much fancied West Indies was a trigger point and so was the 2007 T20 World cup win for T20 cricket in India. 1983, was a turning point for the cricket’s future and long term popularity in India. Kids wanted to a Kapil Dev or a Sunny Gavaskar. Who does’nt love a true under dog story.Football has not had any such trigger points in India to exalt itself as the one of the popular games in India.2) Cricket as a well marketed productCricket as a product has been success story in branding and marketing. It does not really matter what the product is , if the product is great package of entertainment and is marketed very well. BCCI has done this to the best of it’s ability. Cricket ‘s popularity is more a marketing success , than a products success.3)Indian sensibilitiesIn my opinion, Indians in general , apart from some pockets in the northern part , avoid confrontations in any form or manner. Body contact games are just not our cup of tea. We would rather , watch a batsman , wrapped in the choicest armory , facing a red ball , for 8 hours each day , for 5 days. We take things nice and easy that way. India generally does well in mostly team games which has no body contact and is slow , nice and easy. That’s our thing maybe.

With a clear generational shift in Indian cricket, what can we expect from the new team?

Can they? Yes surely, they can. Will they? That remains to be seen.Firstly, Dhoni's words after India's victory in World Cup 2011.Now we can close the chapter. We need to build a team againIt meant rebuilding from scratch. It meant past laurels were not going to matter. That's where the arguments for getting in Yuvi, Gambhir and Sehwag fail. The trio didn't make their opportunities count. Apart from Yuvi's spark in an one off T20, it has been a total no-show. The averages of 18,19 and 20 speak for themselves from the pic below.A list of batting averages of Indian players for the past 2 years.India have picked a very potent side heading into the World Cup. The batting and bowling departments are oozing with confidence and key players are in prime form. Almost all the core players who are expected to be picked in the World Cup final 16, average more than 40. While most of the matches might have been played in the Indian subcontinent, the above players have fared exceeding well under trying conditions in England. Same goes with the bowling.  We have variety in this department. And for the first time our bowling looks promising. Bhuvi is a bowler who relies on swing, Shami can make the batsman dance to his reverse swings and yorkers, and Umesh can cause nightmares with his bounce and pace. Even our spin twins are on songs. (Read Ashwin and Aksar). As for Zak, injury hit him at the wrong time. From then on, it has been a downward spiral for him. Both him and Harbhajan  blew their chances. Dropping match winners like Yuvi or Gambhir who have brought laurels for the country will surely hurt fans across India. But, cricket in India is a demanding game. No player can have a guaranteed place in the playing XI. A generational shift was in the making, and we can finally say it is complete. When legends like Dravid and Ganguly can be unceremoniously dropped from the ODI team, I see no wrong in dropping the under performers. In a nutshell, the team looks great. A solid performance in the tri series down under should seal the favourite tag.Stats from: ESPN Cricinfo Thanks for the A2A Pratyush Singh.
