Do black South Africans want white South Africans to leave the country?
Yes. Many do. There is a growing and disconcerting number of Black South Africans who believe that a nationalist point of view means their country belongs to "them". They believe in paying injustice with justice. An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth. Mercy for no one. However, I have noticed that there is a new age of "conservatism" that is sweeping many countries across the world. Disillusioned people are very easy to manipulate and work into frenzies. Not to make excuses for the German, but the psyche of the common German after the first world war is what made it very easy for Hitler's regime to become widespread and indoctrinated in Germany at the time. They were very disillusioned. I've seen it today with Greek friends, French friends, and now with my South African friends as well. There is a rise of conservatism in Europe that has outrightly racist, islamophobic, anti-Roma, anti-immigration views etc. It brands itself "nationalism", and it feeds off of fears, disappointments and disillusionment. In South Africa now, there is a compounding of disillusionment with the economic progress of the country, the leadership of the country, the distribution of power in the country. A lot of the hope that was There in the struggle has turned into disappointment. There is also fear spread widely about immigration into the country. The country is ripe for racist propaganda being fronted as "nationalist agenda". So unfortunately, yes. Many South Africans want whites to leave. And these ideas are propagated even further by leaders who constantly ingrained them in the people. Leaders who are preying on the psyche of disillusioned South Africans. South African history is very complicated. I don't think I will ever be able to understand the nuances of it all. I live in South Africa right now, and I understand a little better due to immersion. However, even when I make observations, I am unable to visualise what a viable solution would be. Similar to how it's incomprehensible to try and solve the Israel-Palestine conflict. I sadly don't know what the possible solution would be.
Why are there so many white people in South Africa?
South-Africa has a very complex history and heritage. Originally it was inhabited by Bushmen known as the Khoi-san, not alot of them left today; they have brownish skin and not related to the bantu tribes. from the 1500's to 1600's Black Africans or Bantus and white Europeans started moving to SA, the Bantus moved on land from central Africa, here they clashed with the Bushmen and in the 1600's the Europeans arrived, Dutch settlers to secure a shipping route for the Dutch east India company, not long after French hueguenots arrived, fleeing Europe because of religious persecution (Protestants fleeing violent catholic rule of the time) later England wanted a piece of the pie. Today, you've got more or less 11% White people over here, most of them are children of the old settlers from back in the day. My great great great Grand father on my mother's side is Francois Viljoen (Vullion) who arrived in the 1600's from France fleeing Religious persecution. South-Africa is a very, very colorful country, in many ways. Afrikaans a language widely spoken in South-Africa is also a result of colonisalism, it is the youngest language in the World and it is influenced by Dutch (mainly), French, German, English, Malai and portuguese. That's just a very quick summary..
Why are white south Africans so racist?
I go to South Africa to experience the motherland ya know, the real African culture and lo and behold.....More racist white Europeans who have settled in Africa. Its like you cant escape them anywhere! Why do white Europeans insist on spreading their innate racism all over the world? Especially in countries where they dont belong in the first place? A person cant even go to a place their ancestors are from without whites ruining that! I was so disappointed. It was my dream that was just shattered. Its like really if you are going to be racist, then why dont you go back to Europe where you belong?!! Really this is a serious question...Why are they so racist? Dont you find that very ironic? I do!!!! Where in Africa can I go where I can experience the true African culture without European interference? I am sorry if the question offends you but this is the truth as I experienced it and now that I have gotten back and done some research on it, it aint no secret. So there is no reason to be offended by something that everyone already knows! I have no problems with whites, I only have a problem with racism...And even then I dont hate them, I pity them if anything.... And whether I have a problem with whites that doesn't change the truth. And the The truth is, white Europeans have robbed the world of the truth and beauty of myriad cultures all over the world. This is not just my opinion this is history...They traveled all over the world, discovered everyone was different than them, so they invented racism, then committed crimes against humanity to gain empire...Its just so sad how this still affects everyday life all over the world and I am very disappointed to have had this rude awakening....
Are there any gay Blacks in South Africa?
Yes, of course there are. Homosexuality is frowned upon by many societies and religions..But that does not mean that there are no people in the black community who are gay. The black people may be ashamed of their sexual orientation because of their beliefs – So the reason why you dont hear of many black gay people, is that they choose to hide it. I personally know quite a few black gay people. Like the above post says – Sexual orientation is not limited by race or anything else.. Its a personal choce regardless of who you are.
Why are white south africans harbouring so much hatred for their own country?
I find racism disgusting. That said, there's something to be said for culturalism. Some cultures clearly affect more positive outcomes for their respective societies than others. South Africa has the highest murder rate in the world, it also has the lowest life expectancy. There clear motive to complain. Is this the fault of race? No. It is the fault of certain less constructive human behaviours overcoming more constructive ones you might see elsewhere. Until such time as all citizens of SA put aside their behaviours and change how they operate, they can expect more of the same which will result in more brain drain and more poverty, or in other words, business as usual.
Are black South Africans short?
It depends. Remember that black people in Africa are not all of the same ethnic groups. The Zulu people tend to be rather tall and some of the Xhosa people are also quite tall. However, many black people are very slight of build and rather short. The Coloured community also has some short people (especially those with predominantly KhoiSan ancestory). Finally, malnutrition is a problem in Africa and many people don't reach their full heights. This all plays a role to make the average less than what you'd imagine. Amongst the white men, the Afrikaners are especially tall. Although the English and Afrikaners tend to be the same height, the Afrikaners have quite a few big guys. Many Afrikaners have Dutch ancestory and the Dutch are known to be the tallest people in the world. So yes, I Imagin you'd be slightly above average if you came to South Africa, but not really by much. I'm the same height as you and I was actually one of the shorter guys in my school (guys and girls).
Do black South Africans hate Coloureds?
The postings you read and talk about is limited to certain individuals. South Africans are a very proud nation. Especially about their heritage. Black, white, green, whatever kind of people have part in all of the South African culture and what South Africa has to offer. We may not look it at the moment, but we certainly are it!
